First 5k run in over a year. Down 40 lbs since June, and not hurting as much from the run. Weekend of house cleaning, with a few reports thrown in.
congrats. always exciting and stressful.Well, that escalated quickly. Pending inspection, I have a new home.
Serves you right for being so productive. Laziness has its advantages. 😉Submitted my T&P dossier (not going up, we just have to submit them and get formal reviews every year) and had to list the citation counts and IFs for every single article. So much tedious data entry!
With me it was all about the diet. I've always been pretty active, but over the pandemic year+ developed and even greater appreciation for all things aged, cured, fermented, and distilled. Cooking is a hobby and and escape, and with it comes eating. I started doing Noom in June, and it's working for me. While I'm already pretty well versed in the CBT and Mindfulness stuff on which it's based, it a nice refresher. For me, I really benefit from the feedback of the formal calorie logging, with the careful weighing and portioning. I tried walking around the other day carrying 40 lbs of dumbbells, and it really hit home the impact that type of weight has on the knees and back. I still have about 20 more lbs to go before i get my reinforcer (a new pair of skates).Kudos! I need to get on that train and drop about 10. Strength training is still going strong, but I've let cardio slide over the year.
Which mountains?Honestly, the last six months or so of the pandemic has been fantastic for my overall health, and especially my fitness level. I’ve dropped almost 20 lbs I’ve been meaning to lose for a few years, put on a bunch of muscle while improving cardio, and really kicked all aspects of training into high gear. Having an event as a goal to work towards, even long term, has been really helpful, and the positive reinforcement of having way more energy and ability to do the active things I enjoy. It’s also nice to have a very intentional, goal-focused hobby outside of academics.
On the Friday side, I’m headed back to the northeast for a wedding and thrilled to be getting back into the mountains!!
The White Mountains!!!Which mountains?
Nice. I was just up there a few weeks ago. Enjoy. The White Mountains!!!
Never done the white mountains but I've heard great stuff. I need to head up there sometime. NH is one of the states I have very limited time in.Nice. I was just up there a few weeks ago. Enjoy.
I went to college up there and have hiked basically everything, so let me know if you ever want recommendations! They’re my favorite place outdoors in the US.Wine release tonight. So time to pickup the whiskey aged red and see how it is.

Have you done anything abovecthe presidentials? North Percy Peak is very cool, and the Kilkenny ridge takes you to some nice views in a very remote part of NHI went to college up there and have hiked basically everything, so let me know if you ever want recommendations! I haven’t done North Percy Peak, but I have done all the 4000 footers, which included a Kilkenny Ridge traverse to connect Cabot and WaumbekHave you done anything abovecthe presidentials? North Percy Peak is very cool, and the Kilkenny ridge takes you to some nice views in a very remote part of NH
Wow, annual N95 testing. You guys are fancy. We had the fitting once and gave up and moved to surgical masks at my medical center. I still have am n95 I am holding on to.I just shaved my normally short beard into a mustache for annual N95 testing. I’m a little worried it being unprofessional. But, I kinda dig it. I also work with children. Hopefully I won’t lose any patients. We shall see if there is an uptick in parents hesitant about separating for testing…
I seldom use a masks with patients (I give the ados-2 a lot)... But, I usually just wear a cloth mask in common areas.Wow, annual N95 testing. You guys are fancy. We had the fitting once and gave up and moved to surgical masks at my medical center. I still have am n95 I am holding on to.
My boom journey faltered. But, what did you eat? With me it was all about the diet. At my wife's suggestion, we drove up to the new Treehouse Brewing location and picked up their Classic Sampler. She was thinking it would be Treehouse Classics (i.e. amazing IPAs). Turns out it was their take on classic styles- marzen, altbier, kellerbier, czech- and vienna pils, with some nicely hopped pale ales (all my favorites- much more than IPAs).
PS5 delivered yesterday, so i'm going to explore some beers and videogames. Son and I going to UMass Hockey tomorrow night for National Championship banner raising ceremony.
It was an Xmas present for son and I last year, that turned into a birthday present a few months ago. He's been regularly getting in the online PS Direct Queue, regularly waiting a few hours, only for stock to run out. 10 months later he got lucky.I'm holding out until Horizon Forbidden West comes out.
Only one patient today so things are sloooow. But I'm not complaining, lol. My husband is working all weekend so time will probably be spent sleeping, watching Netflix, playing video games, and entertaining my dog.

Something about self-disclosure and jinxing yourself (Just Say No to self-disclosure...ha!): 12 days straight....2 days off now.I have returned to my daily yoga practice for the past 10...no! 12-days straight! I needed it. I can physically tell the difference. Muscle memory is fantastic. Feels great. Friday night yoga, to start the weekend...it is. 🙏❤️

Why has this not been scrubbed from our collective memory yet?
I feel anger.Because every now and then we need to be reminded that we can feel shame.
