(Not referring to FAFSA, loans, or other need-based grants/bursaries, etc.)

Anyone have any experience with being on the "waitlist" for a scholarship, research assistantship, or teaching assistantship, specifically, with respect to Master's programs? If we haven't heard by now, how likely are we to hear in the next month or so about such offers?

I actually emailed Columbia about this exact question. They told me that ironically, I was at the top of the waiting list for need-based grants and that I had just been awarded one! I couldn't be happier about it, considering that I have significant financial need. My guess is that as students decline admission offers, their awards get passed on to students on the waiting list and that would likely happen this month when students are declining offers.

So thanks to whomever declined and passed on their scholarship to me! :D

 Maybe it was my scholarship. I just turned down a scholarship from Columbia on Monday. It's funny to think how we all can be connected.
