It depends on where you apply. Most PT schools prefer in-state, or at least in-region applicants for acceptance. I had a 3.5 overall GPA, 3.3 pre-req GPA, with 154V/153Q/4.0W GRE scores, 1000+ hours ortho outpatient (aide/tech), 75 sports, 15 subacute/skilled nursing facility, 15 acute. I applied to 6 programs, all out of state (including UW-Madison) and I was immediately rejected from 3 (UW-Madison, UNC, UCF) and put on 3 waitlists (MUSC, Regis, UF) 2 of which I am currently still on until a week before classes start in August (Regis, UF)

So my advice: bump your GRE scores up and apply in-state. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Retake a pre req class before you reapply. However this might be tricky given deadlines. Did you retake anything over the last year?

Seconding what starrsgirl said. If you have any chance to retake a prereq or two to push your prereq GPA up, that would be your best bet. Otherwise, make sure you're looking at programs where your cGPA and Pre-Req GPA are at least close to the average accepted GPAs. CSCS might be nice, but may not help you get acceptances, and definitely won't make up for low GPAs

You will get a variety of answers but I don't think your GRE score is a factor here. Your pre req GPA is the only thing that stands out. Do you have more than 1 C? Def look to private schools with no state preference too as you apply.

No, I only have 1 C, but unfortunately it was in chem 2, which is obviously a pre-req.
But yeah, now that this is my second application, I'll apply to more private even though it'll be a little more costly. Thanks!

Everything is looking good. I would say your best bet is to increase your GRE. Not that it's bad by any means, but considering your GPA is right around the average for most schools. Boosting your GRE would increase your odds a lot.

This is assuming you have a good amount of shadowing hours in 2+ settings, and good references coming in as well!

Since you're already re-taking the GRE, I would just suggest applying in-state, or at the very least in region. If you do intend to apply out-of-state, make them for private institutions. Also, make sure whatever institutes that you apply to have average accepted GPA and GRE scores similar to yours. Bets of luck!

My goal is to get into at least 4 schools. My freshmen year of college I attended a different 4 year school w/ a different major and received all Bs, so it hardcore brought down my GPA. Ever since I transferred to NIU, I've gotten straight A's. I'm currently retaking Anatomy this summer, and I plan on retaking Physiology in the Fall. After that, my only bad pre-req grade would be Statistics, which I got a B- in.

Any thoughts? Do I have a chance this year?

I would suggest applying early decision if you aren't already! You'd have a good shot. I heard they fill up a lot of their class with ED, and then the remaining seats during regular admissions becomes very competitive.

I'd be astounded if you don't get accepted to NAU applying as an in-state student with those stats.

Btw, I think I recall UNLV having a bit on their website about them looking down on CC coursework. I'm also a nontrad with CC prereq's and that kind of deterred me from applying there.

When do you start classes at UFlorida?

Classes start Aug 22nd. But with Miami I didn't ask. I know they really like research involvement, because it's an emphasis in their program and I had that going. I don't think I did great at the interview, so I kind of assumed that was a weakness.
