A couple of questions:
1) Is it true that all Navy 3 year HPSP Scholarships are only awarded to people waitisted for the 4 year Navy scholarship the year before? Does Army and AF have the same policy for 3 year HPSP Scholarships?
2) How competitive is it to get a 3 year HPSP scholarship from any branch? How many positions and applicants are there each year? If any of you have been awarded the 3 year scholarship, please personal message me. I have more questions for you!
3) Do 2 year HPSP scholarships with a 3 year payback period exist for dental school? If so, how competitive are these scholarships?
4) Let's say I am selected for an HPSP scholarship in late January. Is it possible for me to tell the military something around the lines of "I will not accept the scholarship until I am notified of an acceptance from my top dental school (which could realistically be up until April)"?
5) Is it too late to apply for a 4 year Navy scholarship now?

Yes. I had a childhood hx of asthma (I didn't even KNOW I had asthma until I pulled my med records). They asked for my pharmacy records from over TEN YEARS AGO. Most pharmacies don't keep records for that long. I contacted mine and they said the records no longer exist. But then my mom by some miraculous chance found paper copies of my prescriptions that are 100000 years old, and I called the pharmacy on the prescription and precisely requested the exact date. Somehow, they had it. Not sure why they told me they didn't on the phone. But anyways, I got the records. If you somehow can't get the records, your recruiter will have you submit a memorandum for record, where you explain why you couldn't acquire the pharmacy records, blah blah blah. I know, it's frustrating as ****. The medical wavier process delayed my application by nearly 6 months

Did MEPS request your medical records and discover that you had asthma or did you discover it yourself and inform MEPS?

Good question. At MEPS I told them that I had used a breathing treatment once when I was a little kid. That's all I remembered. Ofc, they DQ's me, and requested med records from my physician. I went to my pediatrician whom I hadn't seen in years and got the records, and as I was looking through I freaked out because I saw she had diagnosed me with "asthma exacerbation" back in 2008 or smth. I called her because I was certain it was an error, but she said that my symptoms were suggestive of asthma. So I had to get a pulmonary function test done to prove that I am currently asymptomatic.

Edit: It was actually back in 2006 when I had the inhaler treatment. The scary part was, when I thought about it later, I remembered that I actually had an inhaler to carry around school. I NEVER used it though, which is why I completely forgot about it. I even asked my own mom if I ever had asthma, and she said no. So if it wasn't for me checking my medical records and speaking with my pediatrician, I never would have known.

Thanks for explaining your situation, it really helps. I already went through MEPS and qualified, but was afraid they would ask for my medical records afterwards and find something that I didn't know about. I guess they won't ask for records unless they find a specific reason to.

If you already went to MEPS and they cleared you, you're good! The military is not going to look for your past medical records UNLESS they suspect that you have a pre-existing condition that you did not disclose. If you forgot to tell them about a wisdom tooth removal, they won't care, since that's not a condition that needs a waiver. But, if you had a condition that needed a waiver (say, major surgery, mental problems, or asthma) and you didn't disclose it, you can get in trouble if they find out. That being said, as far as I know it's HIGHLY unlikely that they will go poking in your records after you join. They will only do so if they somehow find out that you did not disclose a pre-existing condition that is disqualifying or requires a waiver. Someone can correct me if any of this information is inaccurate

AF only meets once a year. Navy has 3 boards, but unless an applicant is submitted within the 1st board, chances are slim to get selected. I'm not sure about Army, I never applied to their HPSP so I wouldn't know.

Army is 1 board this year, January 19th I believe.

Both my waivers were approved. If they accepted you I’d imagine they’d be accepted...mine were accepted before though

I was accepted for the scholarship prior to a waiver being approved.

Hi sorry, I know this thread is old. Does the Army have a minimum mcat score requirement for their HPSP scholarship? I have been finding conflicting information online, and the Army website does not specify an mcat requirement.
