We all know that I am pretty verbose at times. I try to restrain myself by keeping my post count well below my like count. I figure that if, on average, at least one person finds something useful, amusing, etc in each of my posts, then it is worth continuing.

If the ratio gets too small, I police the quality of my posts for a while, aim for better, more helpful content. I have a wide margin at the moment, though, so I can afford to chatter on. Or re-evaluate my metric.

Screw likes. Just do you and if people like you they like you, if they don't they don't. Some of the posts I've received the most positive feedback on via PM were the ones that got few, if any, likes.

I just like numbers. Quantity is no measure of quality, but it is, at least, a measure.

It isn't a perfect measurement, which is why I am willing to vary it should it no longer serve my purposes. It is just a rubric that I use to gauge how much I am posting. Without some sort of external brake, I could easily post a dozen times in every other thread. I talk a lot. It helps me shush up sometimes and listen to what other people have to say.

What I don't do is *chase* likes. I say what I have to say and let it fall as it will. I make a point of not posting things just to get applause. This is all way outside the point... which is that I usually try to keep my post count trim, but that I am excited to be playing this game, and so I will temporarily suspend my self-imposed limitations so that I can participate fully.

Anyhow... gotta go to work. Will try to keep up during breaks while I am there, though I won't be posting much. My building is way too busy, and they run me all night. I will be back around about 11 hours from now.
