Choker,
My reasons for wanting to attend Emory are somewhat superficial (not all, but some), so don't rip out my throat for being honest. Here goes:
1) I know a couple people at the school who love it.
2) The campus is awesome.
3) When I visited the school, I met some wonderful people.
If you check out the campus the day after your interview, you will probably get the same treatment I did. People were more than happy to show me around their campus. If you tell them you are visiting from another university, they roll out the red carpet and really try to impress you.
4) It's within driving distance from my home.
5) The school has a traditional curriculum (my preference).
6) I've never lived in a city, and Emory is very close to Atlanta (it's on the outskirts).
7) Reputation
I can't leave this out and remain honest, now can I?! Sorry, I know some of you cringed when you read it.
8) Here's a REAL superficial one. I'm almost ashamed to admit it. Yes, it is ******ed! Sorry folks. Ok, here goes...
I resent having had to turn down, for financial reasons, an acceptance from Emory as a high school student. I think Emory is a great school. Yes, it's even better than my alma mater...not to insinuate that UF isn't great, it is. I guess that many of the above reasons were reasons I wanted to attend Emory out of high school and they still appeal to me. I just couldn't justify paying as much as I would have for an undergrad degree. I think a med degree at Emory is a worthwhile investment, however.
There is one thing that I don't particularly like about Emory. They have two hospitals: one for the rich and one for all others.
