OOS waitlist as well
So who the heck got accepted????
I have been in committee review this entire time, like a couple other SDNers. and I just got an update--I was rejected. Why did they make me wait so long with this fake hope just to give me a rejection.... -_______-
I am so, so sorry. I REALLY don't like that ISU did that to you guys. I personally think it reflects poorly on the school. Us applicants invest a ton of time, money, and effort into these schools. No one deserves to be kept waiting THAT long, and for a negative outcome...Rejected. I expected it to be this way because of the long term sentence in CR. A real bummer though. I had a lot of hope for Iowa State. 🙁

Time for a new system! Both ways make them look terrible in my opinioni think they did it because in the past they had to rescind rejections which looks terrible on their part but either way it sucks =/

I'm really sorry. That is the lamest thing a school could do. I was OOS waitlisted too but I expected it. My interview was kind of crappy so I didn't expect to get far. congrats! Good luck on MN. Have you interviewed yet? If you get in to both, tough call to make. Both are great schools. Count your lucky stars on getting in to ISU!!!Accepted, OOS!
I'm waiting to hear from MN (my IS), and if I get in there I'm going to make a huge pros/cons list because I really liked ISU.

Received my portal message yesterday.....listed an an OOS "alternate." Is that different than being wait listed?
Ha! Like that makes us feel any better about ourselves. At least it wasn't a flat out NO!!!Same thing, just a euphemism...

This makes me wonder if they SHOULD revamp their system. Before I got rejected, I was watching everyone post about their movements into CR even though they missed the "Priority Deadline." I made that deadline and my application was not even touched until November. Strange.
I'm thinking that a system revamp would be very beneficial. I am really unsure of the reason they listed a "priority deadline" since the organization/system seemed very random. Speaking of CR, I'm still listed as such. They did however change my application result to "Deny".Gosh, they are so friendly!! Seriously, I think reading "Deny" would have been worse than "Rejected" or something less evil. I feel like I just received the dreaded read stamp you see in movies!! Thanks Hollywood, it's been real, but how 'bout we never have to mention CR again. Is that too much to ask?
Hey Guys.. a note on this post,
"Priority Deadline: Was an attempt to get applicants to submit materials early so they could get through the process quicker, rather than waiting until the process was bogged down with the onslaught of applications and application materials at the VMCAS deadline. They have evaluated this and determined that this did not work how they would have liked and therefore they don't think they will try that again."
In fact, the attempt at a priority submission date did, in fact, have an incredible response. Before this year, 85% of our applicants hit submit two weeks before the deadline. This year, 50% of our applicants hit submit two weeks before the deadline. So the September 1st recommended submission data saw a 35% decrease in the amount of backlog VMCAS typcially sees. That said, we will continue to encourage a September 1st submission date, but we WILL NOT be accepting late transcripts this year. If it's not in our office by October 2nd, we won't accept it. 🙂
The previous reply by deadvet specfically addressed Iowa State's statement of that college's PRIORITY DEADLINE. It had nothing to do with VMCAS Priority Deadline.
Well, if they should choose to try it again, I'd suggest ISU give it a much more accurate title than "Priority." It still doesn't make sense why some of use submitted earlier than the "Priority deadline" and didn't have our application looked at until after those who didn't make the deadline.
As for VMCAS, (this could probably go in another thread...) pushing a September 1st date is unnecessary. Just change the final deadline to September 1st then. There is no point in having a pseudo-deadline when you will still process applications if everything is in by October 2nd. Everything was very confusing and a lot of questions and doubts were created by pushing us to submit in September!
AVMA has them listed as fully accredited until their next evaluation cycle in 2017.Does anyone have information on why ISU is listed as having probationary accredidation?
