It is ruining all my searches...so its value on the site I think is negated by the purpose for the site. Some threads are very long, so you have to search for posts, but of course the only post that come up are the OFFICIAL 2005 Entering ACCEPTANCE THREAD because every school is mentioned there like a million times.

If you do an advanced search you can search only the thread titles - instead of searching through each and every post. This technique might help to avoid snagging some of the extra threads you're not interested in. Try that first...I like the acceptance thread.

And I don't want it moved until I get to post in it! 😛

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Do you think it only affects me? I am the only one searching on this site? Anyone doing a search by post is affected by that bloody thread. It renders that search completely ineffective, despite the fact it is the most effective way to search for a particular school/topic.

You just need to relax and stop congratulating yourself about getting into med school. I think I am special to for getting in too, but I don't pat myself on the back every second either. You just seem really smug and annoying...if you can't post something useful keep your comments to yourself.



Anyway, for those of you who want to read every possible post about a certain school, I came up with a solution:

under "advanced search", you can choose "search options". there you can filter threads with more than or less than a certain amount of replies. Simply see how many replies the acceptance thread has, and search above of below it. So in two searches, you will see every possible mention of you school. Of course, you should probably specify pre-allopathic or whatever.

i do searches all the time and am not bothered by the acceptance thread. i don't think it has had a noticeably negative impact on my searches and enjoy reading it. please do not remove it!

oh wow, you can search within a thread too...that has changed since before. All you ahve to do is go the first page of a thread. That's really helpful. Yeah, with a combination of techniques you can search for anything effectively now.

yeah i kinda agree with removing that sticky. the trouble is that yes you have to do searches wtihin a search to find what you want which is time consuming etc etc. anyways thanks for bringing it up medstyle

i've read other posts of yours too...you're just annoying sometimes, i am sorry. i feel desi's like you give us a bad rep. Like you arguing NJMS is the same as UCSF. No one who knows anything about medschool could possibly agree, but you just keep going on and on....You know, people stereotype us, right? We're the nerds, we're the grade grubbers. We got to beat those characterizations, and the only way we can do that is by being normal and by being successful. You're already successful, so just humble the game some, ok? If you don't put people down, that is a huge start. I read your posts, they are not mature. You're in med school baby, you konw it, i know it. So you got nothing to prove, ok? Now if you're nice and polite, people will think you're awesome, becuase you're successful and a nice guy. If you an ass, people will think you're a jerk, cocky, and naive. Its ok because this is online, but i have a feeling you may be like this in person, which is not cool.

Anyway, just chill out man.

i want to marry a doctor. i want someone who has the same strengths, interests, and priorities as me.

Yeah, some people think that is really snobby. I think the mentality of marrying someone no matter what they do, who they were in the past, and whether you have things in common other than mutual love is stupid however.

My parents want me to do the same, and they have my best interest at heart. After years of dating and more girls than i can remember, i feel the same. I used to think differently too, but after a few long term relationships, you being to see that there is some sense behind finding someone from the same social, economic, and cultural class. Its not all snobbery, unless you're on the outside looking in.
