Hey all,
Applying to MD programs (possibly DO programs) this cycle.
Background...1st time applicant, NH resident...mehhh undergrad experience...3.57 cGPA/3.52 sGPA (3 W's)... worked as an EMT for my university, worked part time at a restaurant (to pay for some of my college expenses), a little psych research (1 presentation, no publications) club soccer, . Never got super involved with these things, only did enough to get by (no leadership roles).
Since graduating (2014), I secured an awesome full-time clinical position (at one of the best hospitals in the country) and a volunteer leadership position. Moreover, I have spent the past 2 years working on the MCAT...: 28, 508 (retook because of low CARS), 517 (most recent).
Scouring Reddit and Student Doctor and comparing my stats/EC's with current applicants and matriculants is discouraging (but also addictive)..at the very best I am borderline for MD programs. Although I do have some positives, nothing stands out during my time as an UG. Do you think my post-grad changes are (great clinical work, volunteer work, recent MCAT) strong enough to make up for my lackluster undergrad experience?
How do I fare for low/mid tier MD programs (plan on applying to 25-30 programs)? I'm considering:
-GW
-Georgetown
-Morsani
-Ros-Franklin
-Emory
-Stritch
-Rush
-Louisville
-Tulane
-BU
-Tufts
-Western Michigan
-Wake Forest
-Geisel
-Cooper-Rowan
-NYMC
-Albany
-Case
-Toledo
-Wright
-Temple
-Drexel
-Jefferson
-Brown
-SC-Greenville
-UVM
-Eastern V
-VCU
Thanks!
