So I am a resident in my last year of residency in Emergency Medicine. My wife is also a resident in her last year of residency (But she is in a pediatrics residency). We have one kid in preschool, and we would love for my wife to be available to be with our child most of the day.
We have a combined 16 years of student debt (college and medical school for both of us), and we didn't earn enough during residency to pay off much of our debt. I am going to try to work about 45 hours a week, and my wife is going to join a pediatrics group, working 10-2 with no call, every Monday-Friday to earn some extra money to pay off our debts.
We both have great education and residencies, and could easily get jobs, but it is increasingly difficult to find a place with a job for me and this job for her. We would move anywhere in the country, except for big cities like NYC or LA. We also would not go to anywhere in Florida. Does anybody have any tips for us to find these jobs? Do we cold call? Do I use one of those national groups (EMCare type) and cold call at local practices to my job? Help!
