Does anyone know if there is a method of sending out interviews? Like by last name, when the application was submitted, etc...or is it just random?
 
Yay! Finally got mine today at well for the 19th at 9:30 am. So excited that it's not super late like my last one. I'd rather just get it done.

We'll be taking the early morning shuttle over from the hotel!! I think the first shuttle run is at 7:30, and we need to be at the interview 30 mins before, so not a lot of room for error, lol!

I know!! I don't know if I should take a cab or something since mine is SO early! I'm gonna look into it and see how expensive it is. Although unfortunately this interview is the same weekend as my in-state, VMRCVM! And if I get an interview there, they will just assign either Saturday or Sunday and won't allow any reschedules, since it is the only weekend they do interviews. If my interview is Saturday, then I think I can do both interviews that weekend. I emailed to see if I could possibly switch interview dates to the other weekend, but they said they only do that in cases of extreme emergency (bold and underlined in the email). So I'm crossing my fingers that it will all work out!

I applied to VMRCVM too! Though I'm not expecting an interview, but what if?? Yikes! I could be in the same boat. Become super travelers for a weekend!

This is the only reason I'm holding off on a plane ticket for right now...but it is most likely a silly gamble I'm making.
 
If anyone is flying into Kansas City, Missouri on the 2nd, let me know, my mom and I are both flying from different states we would be happy to give anyone a ride. I had to fly into Kansas City, to fly to Manhattan from FL was going to cost over $1200!!!
 
Anyone else a bit nervous about not having heard back from KSU? I only found two OOS interview weekends listed on the calendar and it seems as though those invites have been sent. 😕 I still have hope. However, the longer the wait, the more concerned I get.

Can anyone provide the number of weekends from last year?

They have a lot of people applying to them so it's going to take time to send out all the invites. I got an email for an interview last year right before the week of Christmas for the 19th of January if that helps you at all. So yes, breathe and I'm sure it's coming soon.
 
Their are a LOT of interview spots for OOS. Last year 5-6 students would have the same interview start time and the interviews start like every half hour or hour. Each interview is individual (so no group interviews) but they had multiple interviews in different rooms going at the same time. Although it seems like they are filling up fast, they will most likely be sending interview invites throughout December. Don't fret yet-its just a waiting game. I didn't get my interview invite till the second week of December last year.

I have been feeling the same way. It's hard not to be nervous when it seems like everyone else has heard something! But I'm keeping my hopes up until I get a rejection letter 🙂
 
Hi everyone! I've been super quiet on this site, but thought I would send out my congratulations to those interviewing and good thoughts for those who have not heard yet! I have an interview on 1/19 at 9:30 a.m. as well. I got the email the morning of 12/5. Very excited!! Good luck to you all!!!
 
Just an FYI, anyone who is booking a hotel should try kayak.com (or something similar) before calling & using the group rate. I found much cheaper rates through kayak.
 
Good advice. I'm going to talk to my mom on Sunday when I get home about hotels since she is coming with me and she is kind of picky.

I have a question: my interview for K-state is the 19th. I applied to WSU as well and many of the people posting on that thread have interviews there that same weekend. I have not gotten an interview invite for Wash yet, but I am paranoid that if I do, it will be on the same day. Obviously physically impossible. Does anyone know if the schools would be willing to reschedule if they are, or will I have to choose one or the other?

I have an interview to K-state and WSU, but WSU is on the 14th for me so it's possible that yours will be earlier in the week as well. I plan on just staying in Pullman a little longer instead of returning home for 2 days and then leaving again. I'm also still waiting to hear from Iowa State which might mean I'm making 3 trips in the span of a week. Good luck and congrats! Your letter should be arriving soon. Mine showed up on Saturday and I live in Arizona.
 
Thanks so much! 🙂. That is a concern of mine cause I would like to go with either. Granted, if I get a happy letter from CSU, I'll be thrilled.

I applied to Penn, Tufts, Virginia-Maryland, Illinois, Purdue, Iowa and Florida.
 
I applied to Penn, Missouri, Colorado, Washington and Kansas (of course 🙂)
 
Seriously though, save yourselves some money and stay at the Econo Lodge for 44 bucks a night or Motel 6.

Of course those could be an issue if you don't rent a car...
 
Hey guys! Does anyone on here know anything about obtaining in-state residency in Kansas (after 1st year). I've heard that it is difficult, but wanted to see if anyone had first hand experience with it. Thank you!

It is like a 0.1% chance of gaining in-state residency for K-state. Basically, the only way it happens is if you have a spouse who is a resident of Kansas. Otherwise, they don't change your residency and you're marked an OOS resident for the entire duration of your schooling.

When I was reading the old threads it seemed like just a couple of weeks after. I'm not sure but it seems like they send out the acceptances as batches for each interview date. Don't quote me on that tho.
 
you two up there are not alone! So is it safe to assume that if I haven't heard anything from kansas, That I am rejected?:shrug: Are there only those two interview weekends in january? :scared:

I was really rooting for kansas too....

IS will here by the first of the new year typically and OOS won't hear till around Feb 1st

Im oos.... but do you mean for those oos peeps that got interviews that you wont hear until feb? cause if so... I haven't heard about an interview or rejection.... neither.....
 
Maybe they don't send out rejections until they've filled the class? Just a thought. In case they end up needing to interview more people or something.
 
I really wish there was some sort of system where we could trade interview times with people. I would kill for one of the late January ones over my early January one. So inconvenient. -.-
 
I emailed someone in admissions, she said that interviews are sent throughout December and applicants that are not invited will know about their status around January 1st!
 
EMERGENCY FOR CURRENT KSU STUDENTS (I'm talkin' to you, @Frozenshades & others!): I am leaving for my interview early tomorrow morning and do not know what to pack for the pizza party on Saturday! What is the attire? Business casual? Casual? Also, can we change into more casual clothes for the tours? My interview is at 8:00 am on Sunday. THANK YOU
 
the pizza party is totally casual, I wore jeans and nice sweater to mine. If you'd be more comfortable, you can change into something else for the tours (you'll just be going in 2 buildings though, so it's not like you need comfortable shoes for a lot of walking).

Also, would current students mind sharing what they love most about KSU/why the school is unique? The website isn't particularly helpful and I am having a hard time finding what the school is about. Also I want to be prepared for the "why KSU" question. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated 🙂

Exactly what I did. You don't necessarily have to do the tour right around your interview time either; I came earlier in the day in normal clothes, got my tour and hung around and chatted with people and faculty for a little bit. Then left and had lunch, suited up and came back for the interview.

The faculty won me over more than anything else truthfully. My interveriwers and any faculty member I talked to just seemed really passionate about what they do(and through my first semester here that has rung true; you really appreciate those days where you have a gross anatomy test coming up and it's 6:30pm and there are still instructors hanging around the lab to help you). I'm a fan of the facilities to; K-State is the only school out of the ones I considered attending that provides a personal lab desk for each student. And yeah, while they may not be the greatest computers provided to us, I really like how all of our lectures are ready to go for us in OneNote. Student resources are pretty nifty too, like fourth and second year buddies for each first year and faculty member groups. And first years are very welcome to hang around the hospital which is nice; the faculty and residents like seeing you around and wanting to learn. In a general answer, each school has different strengths and weaknesses, I think you should just focus on those particular aspects that are important to you. So if you have more specific things to ask about I'm sure myself or another KSUer on here can get you more specific answers.

Also forgive my typing and grammar, I am mildly drunk typing this 😛
 
OMG I AM FREAKING OUT... My flight got cancelled due to snow. It is rescheduled for 6:05 tonight, meaning I will 100% miss the pizza party. I should, however, HOPEFULLY (fingers crossed) make my interview at 8:00 am tomorrow. How big of a deal is it to miss the pizza party (especially after RSVPing for 2 people)? Is there someone I can/should contact about this? I am so sad 🙁🙁🙁
 
They will never know that you weren't at the pizza party, don't worry!!
You can contact them if you want to let them know your flight was cancelled and that you should still be able to make the interview.

There were a couple that I certainly wasn't expecting. Overall I didn't think it was bad, though. So far I can only compare it to my Tufts interview from last year -- both interviews were relatively laid back and conversational, but I thought that Tufts was more relaxed than KSU. One of my KSU interviewers wasn't as warm/nice as I was expecting, but it was fine. Don't worry and good luck! Also I'll post about my interview in the feedback section soon.

We definitely met @sblove17 !! I felt the exact same as you. One of my interviewers wasn't the sweetest. The questions were personal about my app but I didn't feel like I "wow-ed" them. We will see!
