LECOM Bradenton Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How many of you that were accepted have or plan on getting a bachelor's?

Good luck to all of us interviewing tomorrow!

I'm soooo glad that interview is over, and I'm finally home and in bed, after flying into, and out of florida, in the same day... never again. Stupid exams the night before 😡 lol. Well we find out our fate soon!!! 🙂

Can you talk about your interview?

Those who already interviewed, what does your LECOM portal say on the admission tab?
Thanks

You and me both! Hopefully it paid off though 🙂 What does your portal say? Mine still says they will make a decision and notify me within 30 days.

I also interviewed yesterday. Overall, it was a great experience, and the students, staff, and faculty are very nice. The interview day is very well set-up and everything flowed very well. DO NOT be nervous...you'll work yourself up for nothing!

NOW is the time to be nervous...waiting on their decision! 😱

Good luck to you. Does your portal say anything different than mine? (See above posts)

Nope, mine says the exact same thing. I recall them saying that the admissions committee would meet today (Friday) to discuss yesterday's interviews. So, we should all find out something within the next week or so!

G'luck to you as well!!

hi henry,
how's it going?
i am wondering if you could tell us what your weekly schedule looks like? how much time you spend in class and other activities?
thanks,
ben

Class Schedule
Monday: Biochem, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutics Lab
Tuesday: Biochem, Anatomy & Physio, Intro to Health Care Delivery Systems
Wednesday: Biochem, Pharmaceutics, Intro to Pharmacy Practice
Thursday: Pharmaceutical calculations, Anatomy & Physio
Friday: Miscellaneous review, Pharmaceutics, Intro to Pharmacy Practice

You can expect to be in class between 3-5 hours a day. I usually study for about an hr before class and 2 hrs after class. We have an exam every Monday, so I also study about 2-8 hrs (depending on the exam) each saturday and sunday. Monday night, however, is party night.

Overall, I feel that this leaves me plenty of time to handle extracurriculars (Retail job/APhA/ASHP/student gov). Many of my classmates study just as much as I do and also have jobs and are involved in organizations. Some of my classmates are married/have kids and also do just fine.

In case you don't know
Pharmaceutics is a really broad topic. As a first year, we are studying different dosage forms and formulation studies that precede determining the optimal dosage form for a particular drug. We touch lightly on kinetics, but that's mostly saved for 2nd year. Lab consists of making drug vehicles (tablets, capsules, ointments, creams etc..)

Into to health care delivery systems teaches the different models of health care delivery, the legislation and history behind different models and discusses the future of health care.

Intro to pharmacy practice brings students who have never worked in a pharmacy up to speed on pharmacy practice (in all settings), including memorizing the top 300 most common drugs (brand/generic name, fda indication, dosage forms, contraindication and adverse reactions).

A&P and biochem are self-explanatory. Its not the first time you've had it and won't be your last.

Thanks a lot Henry!!!

3 to 5 hours a day does not sound too bad at all. I like it that Monday is "party day" 🙂.

For those of you that have received an acceptance letter, did you get a pre-req checklist with it? How do you know if you're squared away on pre-reqs?

I have the same thing! Once I see it says a decision has been made, I'm going to try to call them to find out, because I know the mail will take a few days. :xf:

You can check it yourself. Go to the LECOM portal (where you check to see if the decision has been made on your file after the interview). Then, go to "required letters and credits" -->view your folder.

For those of you that have received an acceptance letter, did you get a pre-req checklist with it? How do you know if you're squared away on pre-reqs?

Congratulations to those who just got interviewed!!!

The message on your portal could be one of the two:

1. The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 10 days.

From my experience, this most likely means that you are accepted.
It could also mean you are denied (yet, it is very highly unlikely because I have never seen anyone with this message got rejected)

2. The Admissions Committee has not made a decision on your file. We will notify you as soon as a decision has been made.
From my experience, this means you either have been put on hold or on the alternate list.

Good luck 🙂

Guys, I have not submitted my pharmcas application yet b/c I am waiting on my pcat score b/c I am applying to few more schools. I have bachelors already so should I apply right now to LECOM, then when I receive my score, apply to the rest of schools I had in my mind? Will pharmcas let me add more schools after the application has already been submitted??? Thanks

Neither of those messages have been shown yet for us who interviewed this past Thursday. Not sure if it's because Mrs. Grosser's last day at LECOM was Friday (not sure if she's the one that updates the portals) but most of us still have the message saying, "Thanks for interviewing.....etc". Hope they update it soon!

Ms. Grosser should have told you on the interview day when you could call her to ask. What do you mean that it was her last day at LECOM? She's not working there any more?

I would call the school on Tuesday and ask because the ad com have met on Friday and made the decision already. The dean just has to sign off on it (this might take a day or two).

NO, you DO NOT need the PCAT score to apply if you have a BS/BA. So apply ASAP to LECOM. Yes, you can add more schools after the submission.
Go to "pharmacy designation" --> "update designation"

I heard yesterday was her last day there....

Yes, Friday was Jackie Grosser's last day. We are all sad that she's leaving. I heard from the rumor mill that she is moving on to bigger things. Lauren Somers will be taking over for this admissions cycle. You can ask her anything about admissions that you would've asked Jackie.

I am sad that she's leaving before we get to know her. I hope that it's for the best for her. She's one of the nicest people I have ever met!!!

It was very relaxing. Go back to the posts around October 21st-NOW. We have shared what we knew there already.
Once again, know the answers to all the questions on this site:

Hey everyone...I just applied....I wasn't planning on applying out of state because I didn't take the PCAT but I just discovered that LECOM does not require it from applicants that already have a bachelors degree 👍 Good luck to everyone during the admissions process. I hope I still can get an interview being that I applied this late:xf:

My e-mail has been down for a good 24 hours 🙁 Does anybody want to e-mail admissions and ask if the portal will be updated as it was for the previous week's interviews?

You didn't hear it from me, but you can call... I was ACCEPTED 😀... But I also was accepted to Touro-NY... So now I have a decision to make, relatively quickly! 😎

Pretty sure he had just hung up with LECOM as he posted his acceptance on the board.

Sorry, working on a Biochem presentation. Yes I just hung up the phone and was posting... I called this morning. Believe me, if I didn't already have acceptance somewhere else, I would have also been TOO NERVOUS to call.

Did anyone check out the cost of living, apartments and stuff around campus?

I called on Friday, and found out I was *ACCEPTED* as well.:biglove: I have another interview next week, so I wanted to know if I had to buy a plane ticket or withdraw my application. From what I've heard, the cost of living is A LOT cheaper than areas like NY and South Florida. 😉 I did some research and found (for the most part) 2bed/2ba for ~$450-$600...obviously it'll increase with less roommates and decrease with more. In addition, our student ambassador told us 3bed/2ba townhouses are currently on sale for $60,000!
