I interviewed on the 23rd and my status changed to
The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days
It sounds rather ominous, does anyone else who recently interviewed have something different or is this their way of saying thanks but no thanks?

That means exactly what it says, it isn't a good or bad thing just the status when they make their decision.

Dan, did you already turn in your DO letter? I turned mine in back when I got the interview. I didn't get a new email

Big B, my portal says something like The committee requests LORs before a final decision is made.

My DO letter has not been sent yet. I called my letter writer and it was supposedly mailed to Interfolio today. Cross your fingers.

I'll be calling when I wake up in the morning I don't plan on coming onto SDN before I call. If I get waitlisted again I may spiral into depression though so I'll probably come back on here to get talked out of it hahah

Hey everyone! For those of you also interviewing on september 10th where are you staying? I am flying in and will most likely have to take a cab to the interview, does anyone know if there are cheaper ways - shuttles/public transportation? what airport are you flying into.. tampa?

A bunch of us on 8/30 stayed at the Wingate, it's like 5 minutes from the school. Just for reference, some of the interviewees in my group paid almost $30 for a 15-20 minute cab ride from the Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport, so if you're flying into Tampa... you might want to rent a car since it's almost an hour away from the school... I don't even want to think about what that cab ride would cost haha.

thx noshie! i think the day went well but def cant say for sure. i felt optimistic at first but i started thinkin about some of my answers to the questions and im not so sure anymore. just gonna stop thinking about it haha.

but i def enjoyed the rest of the day though. it was cool to finally see PBL in action. and it was def cool to finally meet some of u SDNers out there! hope we all did well 🙂

i was considering if i should call as well but i think they're gonna get bombarded with like a million calls. ill have to be at work anyway so thatll def take my mind off it. gl man, it def sounds like u had a positive interview considering they still remember u and all

and for anyone interviewing at LECOM-bradenton, definitely stay at the wingate. its cheap, close to the school, staff EXTREMELY nice, and the hotel is really nice for the price ur paying. i thought my hotel was awesome but some others had suites for the same/cheaper price.

oh and just curious, did you guys send an individual thank you email to each interviewer or just one email CC'd to both?

Sent individual thank yous that were slightly different and geared toward what they had said in the interview. I did not hear back

Its ok! You have to think that half of the people interviewing that day will be waitlisted... It's not a rejection! They had a tough decision I am sure.

Don't sweat it. Call them up and find out, otherwise you'll just find out later. Honestly, my interview was HORRIBLE! I really feel like I didn't answer a single one of their questions well and felt awkward the whole time. There are more interviews coming and even so a waitlist isn't the worst place to be. Quite frankly, I have no idea how I would have been able to plan my other interviews and drop the 1500 bucks anyway.

Seriously though, call them! They've already made the decision so you may as well find out. GL!

Anyone waitlisted have this on their homepage, right side, down a bit? I am going to drive myself crazy and breakdown and call. Ugh. I have crappy self control...

Allows me to go to my other interviews without feeling pressured into LECOM. But then it makes me wonder if I suck at interviewing. Thought that was my strength actually. Ouch.

Mine said this after the interview. I don't have that status. Mine says that I need a letter. So I'm not sure if the Background Check means anything.

I am not going to call, even though I'm going CRAZY, because I don't think they can tell me anything because my DO letter is missing. We'll see.

Like Peachy said, it's practice for the next one. I think you hit the nail on the head with the word "pressured." I hate to say it, but as bummed as I am to be waitlisted it's kind of freeing to not have to worry about the massive, early deposit.

Its ok... The hardest part about being waitlisted was that I had to find another colored highlighter to designate "waitlisted" in my notebook... Haha. I only had:

Complete=yellow
Interview=pink
Rejected=blue
Withdrew=green
Accepted=orange

And since I only have 5 highlighter colors, I had to go with:

Waitlisted=pink with blue around the edges...

Ya I have the same 30 day notice, I think everyone had that though.

Don't be jealous, its only because I don't have a job that I can work currently. I'd much prefer to be digging myself out of debt than putting myself in more.

So you called them back again and they said that you are actually waitlisted, not rejected? The physics grade is the only reason for their decision...

So it looks like my pending status will last a while longer....the DO I shadowed didn't respond to my email (her preferred method of communication) so I called her office and she's out on vacation until the 8th with "limited access to email"......starting to freak out a bit.....

We'll both be in limbo NMR. I called my doc and he (well his wife) said the letter was mailed (to Interfolio) on monday. Which means it should be arriving in DC any day now. Then I can turn around and have it sent to everyone including Bradenton. We'll see if was actually mailed.

NMR, since you called, do you think we'll get decision letters?

Called again and asked for an explanation as to why I was rejected - told to wait for callback

Callback from Ron Shively - says he doesn't think I should have been an outright rejection, talked only about my grades and what new classes I have taken. Said he is going to send me an alternate letter and they will wait for my physics grade before putting me back in front of the committee in December. FWIW, an A in physics brings me to 3.09sGPA and 2.96cGPA. I'm considering adding another class if I somehow mysteriously come up with money now.

I'm incredibly grateful that they are changing it to give me another opportunity but in all honesty it seems like its more of a pity/appease him waitlist than anything. I just don't understand how they interviewed me two years in a row and all but directly cited my GPA as the reason for my rejection...
