LECOM-Erie Discussion thread 2007-2008

Hmmmm... interesting. I think there are separate committees for each pathway, but everyone has to go though the LDP committee first. So if LDP is your first choice, you might hear from LECOM Erie quicker than people didn't rank LDP first because you don't have to go through the extra assessments. This is just my guess so I might be wrong. Btw, I ranked PBL first.
 
I was wondering the same thing: Does Erie base your acceptance on which pathway you choose? So for example, if you chose PBL and it's very competitive that year, you will be rejected? Also is PSCP the most competitive pathway? Lastly, if you originally chose one pathway, but didn't seem to fit, can you switch to another pathway? Thanks alot.

no, you get accepted, then placed.

if you chose PBL, you can switch out at the end of anatomy if you want. If someone does that, then someone from LDP gets the opportunity to switch in. after that there is no switching because PBL doesn't really follow along with the other pathways.
i think with ISP you might be able to switch out of it later because they follow somewhat the same order as LDP but i'm not sure.

PCSP has the least slots open so theoretically it could be the hardest to get into.

First it is dependent on availability. Also, they ask you your preference during the interview and ask you to justify it.
LDP has most seats, so it is usually the fallback when other programs have been filled.
PCSP is a special program with its own application.

Have you had the interview yet/ been accepted already? If so, which did you choose during the interview?
 
Has anyone recieve the email with access code to initiate the loan process?
Its been 3 weeks and i haven't heard from them. Am i the only one?!

This is very interesting indeed. Mine was PBL, LDP, ISP, and then PCSP. For people who didn't rank LDP first, I hope we hear back from them next week, and I hope it is the case that we have been accepted because our applicants are being passed on to different committees for consideration. Gotta stay postive! 🙂 I don't have a preference whether the mail contains an acceptance, a waitlist, or a reject - I just don't want to be in the dark.

I'm in the same shoes but for me I'd rather be in over the other options. 😛
 
I had my ranking as PBL, LSP, ISP, and PCSP....and I was accepted to PBL the same time as everyone. I don't think that makes a difference as to when you're accepted, i just keep hearing they're backed up right now. Has it been at least 17 days since you all interviewed??

Yes, I interviewed on Feb 28th and haven't heard anything yet.
 
Hi All!

I'm starting LECOM this summer in the ISP pathway.

For undergrad I went to a commuter school in New York . . . always lived at home (no roommate experience).

I would like to room with someone from LECOM.

I'm 24, F, non-smoker, on the clean freak side, not big on TV, I can't study with music (like quiet studying). I get along with most people. I might have my dog come visit me once in the blue moon with the family (small).

I would be able to visit Erie after I quit my job in May to check out some places to live. I don't drive yet (in the process of getting a license-I got to drive on a highway today which was lots of fun! . . . I live in manhattan = great public transportation system)

-not a huge party person, MATURE
-want to LOOK INTO renting either a house or apt (whatever the better deal is) not too far from LECOM (5-10min) that's located in a good area.

As I sit here sipping on a cup of Johnnie Walker Blue I write that I am now going to be a part of the LECOM Class 2012. I don't know what the future holds but I do know this... Im going to really hate all that snow 😛

I have been accepted to the Independent Study Pathway! I'm excited but I don't know why I am in ISP. My order was PBL, LDP, ISP, PCSP. ???

They have recently added some more dates going to April 28th I think.
 
I hope something good in the mail comes this week. Congrats to all the people who got in! This is a great school and Erie is a wonderful city to live in.

Good thing its not April 1st because I'm very skeptial of that day for some reason although I do take caution on the ides of March but that's past this year. I wish them good luck. Although 4/3 is kinda late

LDP, the one i wanted. Best of luck to you, go buy a gallon of gas for a stranger and head over to the thread for people who haven't gotten in, it helped me out considerably.

I am in PBL and I am a bit worried. I spoke with a couple of the PBL students and they said that come test time you are pulling out your hair, but hey I am looking foward to it. What are you worried about?

I'm can't wait for PBL actually. I feel like I always learned the most while in groups, I enjoy bouncing ideas off of other people, and I think learning how to work together in a group (or a practice 🙂) to solve a problem is a great skill to always be working on.

Obviously all of the pathways have worked well and produced excellent physicians, so this is definitely more of a "I'm excited for PBL" post rather than a "the other pathways aren't for me" post.

That being said, I'm looking forward to the day Erie gets hit with 3 feet of snow and I can kick back with my books and a cup of coffee in my den while those LDPers start up the snowmobile 🙂

it feels spectacular. it's definitely a feeling i'm hoping everyone can achieve. best of luck to all other applicants, don't give up, if i can get in you can too!

I haven't yet 🙁 And I am checking my mailbox like it's my job.

I'm assuming you haven't received one yet either?
 
I interviewed March 14th and haven't heard anything either. We might have a long wait ahead of us considering some people that interviewed in February are just now finding out. 🙁

I just finished packing. I'm driving to Houston this afternoon after class and fly out to Erie tomorrow. My interview is Friday. WOOHOO!!! It is finally here and I'm excited. Just wanted to share.
