LMU 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

Gotcha. So if I get a rejection for this coming Spring semester, I won't be considered for the fall?

Correct. The rejection email will say rejected and to basically try again next cycle.

Does anyone know when they plan to send out the next round of acceptances? They have no active ones out right now, correct?

Multiple people have emailed and they’ve just replied that they’ll be sending invites out soon but that’s it. Don’t believe there have been any active ones.

So I just got accepted to LMUs spring cohort… i’m grateful but i indicated on my application that i was only interested in the fall… i applied to 20 other schools and won’t hear back from most of them until after LMUs start date. Has anyone declined their spring seat and got accepted into the fall?

Congrats! I have no personal experience with what you’re going through but I think you’ll get the best answers by emailing the admissions team.

Did anyone else hear? How long do you have to make your decision?

Same…I interviewed back in July and it’s been radio silence since. I’m bawling my eyes out at this point.

Would you share your stats please?

Interviewed in August and still nothing here either. Congrats to those who got in today though!!
Just 1 new person on this thread today, correct? There is nothing on the APVMA page on Facebook. Seems strange it would be just 1 person today?

I was thinking this too…I haven’t seen one post in the APVMA Facebook group…this cycle is weird..

I think with every cycle accumulating more and more applicants it’s more common for people to not have access to sdn/Facebook groups since the group is so much larger. I’m sure they sent out more than 1 acceptance

I got my acceptance yesterday for Spring Cohort! I think I’d like to defer to next Spring, but I can’t seem to find out how to do so. Does anyone know? Thanks!
Congrats! I was also accepted for Spring Cohort in August and I unfortunately had to defer till next spring due to some personal reasons. I reached out to admissions and explained my reasoning for the deferment.

My VMCAS was received and placed under review on September 25th. Did anyone else apply that late? If so, has anyone been contacted for an interview yet?

Curious of the deferment process! When you contact admissions, do you fill out any forms, provide documentation, etc in order to defer? Did they share the number of students they allow to defer?

I did not have to fill out any forms or provide documentation but I did discuss my reason for deferment. They didn't share the number of students that are allowed to defer. I think it's a case-by-case system and will depend on what circumstances you have. It also has to be approved by the admissions committee.

Anybody know how full the spring semester is?
The APVMA page on Facebook has several responses saying NOT full but I’d love a headcount too. You’d think with an early Jan start they’d want to give everyone 2 months to secure housing and all that. Since they don’t look at people IS vs OOS my assumption is (?) they pull people from all over. So that’s a lot of coordinating to get there if you don’t live near there.

Thank you for the extra information, I appreciate it!!

Anyone know when spring cohort orientation is? And if its in person or virtual?

Is it bad if I applied in early September for fall and haven’t heard back from them yet?

If you applied for fall only you more than likely won’t hear from them until December or even after the new year. They’re trying to fill the spring class first.

Schools will regularly fill their classes until literally class begins. I had friends pulled from LMU waitlist for fall 2 years ago like 2 days before class started. I’m sure the spring cohort is no different if it’s not full I’m sure they are accepting until it is

I've been struggling to find information about their interviews online. I understand that the interview will be 3 8 minute scenarios, and was under the impression it would be similar to CASPER where I'm given a prompt and essentially talk to myself, but I've seen some comments here and on Facebook about interacting with interviewers. Is it more conversational? Or are the prompts truly just shown on the screen?

It’s with interviewers they read you the prompts and then you discuss them to them. You don’t talk with them too much but I had 2 of my interviewers like talk back to me about my response last year. The others kind of ran out of time

Hopefully that is the case! I had a friend apply Sept 6th for fall cohort only and interviewed like a week and a half ago

She will more than likely be offered a spring start date depending on the rest of the application, etc. Even if people specifically put fall only they will sometimes interview them early on and then offer them spring start date and then they have to back track and figure out who else to accept. sounds counter productive to me.

I only applied for the fall cohort, and I interviewed on 8/26, so I'm terrified that they're going to offer me a spring start date since I absolutely cannot start in the spring 😭

If you aren’t in school still at spring start they very well might accept you for spring. They prioritize Spring over fall for pretty much everyone who isn’t still in their undergrad

Oh, I will still be in school in the spring-- that's why I can't start vet school at that time. I will graduate with my bachelors' in the spring of 2025. Does this mean they can't give me a spot for the spring, or is there still a chance that they will even though I can't do that option?

I’m pretty sure they won’t offer you spring start if you indicated you are finishing your undergrad degree in spring2025 on your application🙂 ..don’t totally quote me on that BUT every person I knew that was pulled for spring start (even if they indicated fall preference) had already graduated or graduated in the fall semester

This has me nervous. I put fall- BUT I’m done with UG as of 8/24. However, I have an IS school that may/may not answer before LMU would start in Jan so maybe they are keeping me in the fall pool because they know if I get my IS I’ll be headed there due to the cost savings.

I was interviewed within a week of submitting my application (early Sept) so it’s just been the cone of silence since. HATE IT!!!!

I’m nervous for the opposite reason, I want spring start but technically i’m enrolled in a masters until this fall, but I was planning on dropping the masters if i get in🥲

They won’t consider other schools when considering acceptances. LMU is a priv school so they don’t have IS/OOS designation. They assume if you applied you’d want to go there so they won’t matter what state ur from
