Yea, I believe it just has to be done by orientation. Not 100% sure on that though.

Just sent all the paperwork from the matriculation packet in today (blood titers, physical, drugtest etc.). I sent in my transcripts a couple of weeks ago. I think we technically have until June or July though, right?
We will be buying in La Follette, so this may not help you at all. Our current plan is to just remain in La Follette for 4 years. It will suck on gas that my wife and I will both drive into Knoxville every day, but we feel it is the best option for us and will allow us to build a lot of equity. Houses in Knoxville are pretty expensive while houses in La Follette are dirt cheap. Also since I don't think anyone responded to my question before I'm going to be annoying and ask it again. What are the people who are buying houses planning to do with them after the first two years? I'm really afraid to buy a house since we will only live in the area for two years before moving off for clinicals.
I'll be in La Follette this weekend looking at real estate. If I see something I'll let you know. And if anyone finds any places for rent that allows pets and you end up not renting it please send that contact info my way. I'd greatly appreciate it.
I need to get an appointment to get all of mine done soon. I'm going to call this week to see if they can squeeze me in. I haven't sent in any of the matriculation packet yet, but I have filled most of it out.Oh and just to make this way too long I got all my titers and stuff done last week but I haven't gotten the results yet. I'm hoping I won't need any more shots. I do need to get a transcript sent and sign up for the background check. At the moment I'm more worried about a place to live.

How far away from LMU is La Follette? How far is it from Knoxville? I really need to study a map of the area.
Here are some google links...but roughly, my wife will drive around 45 minutes to work every day, and I will drive about 30 minutes to DCOM every day. To me, that is not a big deal because I have been driving 30 minutes to work for 5 years. How far away from LMU is La Follette? How far is it from Knoxville? I really need to study a map of the area.

Google says it will take 51 minutes, but it did not take that long when I drove it. It is a long straight road, and the only time I could imagine it taking a long time is if you get stuck behind someone that doesn't like to do the speed limit.
Blaze, when did they let you know about your pre-interview status?

Yeah, I think you're right. I just wanted to get it out of the way. I happened to already have a doctors appointment scheduled a couple of weeks ago, so I just had all the labs done then. 👍
I just finished mine today too 😀
Yup, all paperwork due July 1st
Proof of Health Insurance due July 15th
TN Housing address due Aug 1st
Happy waiting to those STILL waiting (sorry it is taking so long, it is really weird). Bivvie, I'm sorry you were waitlisted. You were a lot of fun to hang out with at Oasis, so keep up to date with the adcom by sending in additional LOR's, grades, EC's, LOI, etc. Make sure they know you really want to be here, it can only help you get off the waitlist. Good luck everybody!!!
Sweet! So, you're coming to DCOM then? YYYYEEEEEEYYYY! I haven't talked to you in a while and I wasn't sure. 😀
I was gonna have my physical and all the blood work done this week, but then my dad told me that I might be covered under his insurance by next month. That would mean a much cheaper doctor visit... But if not, then it will be even later before I get into the doctor to have all that done. So I'm about to just go and pay for it myself, just so I know that it is done.I just finished mine today too 😀

sheruns, your you tube posting privledges have been officially revoked
On a side note, if I have had some vaccines from working in the ER, could I bring copies of that to my doctor so he would know what to draw and what not to for the blood tests? I know my HepB was just finished up in late November, and I've had like 12 TB skin tests. And I know I had the Whooping cough and Tetanus all done while working there. I guess I should call and ask DCOM.....
Yeah, I had to take all that with me to the hospital before I could work in the ER. I'll just have to find it again. Sweet, so this might not be as bad as I thought. Out of curiosity, do you know the cost of your workup, or was it all covered by your insurance?Blood titers are required for: HepB, chicken pox (varicella), Rubella and Rubeola. For the others just bring proof of vaccination to your doc so they can sign off on it. I'm sure you were vaccinated for DTP and Polio as a kid, so ask your parents if they have a record of it. 👍

Haha, dang those insurance companies.... Lol. Well, I'm looking at spending around $4-500 for my whole workup, so a $40 drug test is the least of my concerns... at the moment... How much is the background check thing again? $50 bucks? Geez... they are gonna nickel and dime me to death before school even starts...They haven't billed me . . . yet! I'm not sure if it will be covered. I had to pay out of pocket for the drug test, though. It was $40! 👎

Sweet ***!!!! Thats so awesome!!!It will be a while before I am getting a new car. It will literally have to blow up. Or the wheels fall off. Or for diesel to go up to like $12/gallon, but its getting close...
So I didnt get any pictures of it while I was up there the other day, but there is a trail from down in Cumberland Gap that goes up to LMU. It follows the old train tunnel and goes under where 33 and 58 split and go to either KY or VA. You're bringing a bike, right? And some hiking boots? Cause there is a lot of that to be done around the area 🙂.
Seriously though, sweet car!
Have you been hanging around Cameljockey? Oh, and helz yeah! That will be hella sweet cruzin around in your new pimped out ride.
haha... I'm stopping there... 😆

Looking for a place to rent that allows pets is incrediably hard. I'm really getting quite frustrated with this housing search.

This is why I live in NE Knoxville.
I didn't want to move after 2 years...and knew that finding a rental that would allow all our critters would be nearly impossible.
My dogs are such a pain in the butt! But they can't help it.
So how easy is it going to be to get all of your rotations in Knoxville? I no longer have the sheet that lists all the participating hospitals. I'm just wondering if there is still a chance you may not get to stay in Knoxville after the first two years and then be forced to move to another big city. I like to worry about every possible detail

I'm gonna cop my new whip right after graduation.Right now I'm looking for a fresh to def 67 impala, dress it up wit some cherry red, get some 22 inch spinners cause dats how i be stuntin.
Yeah, I traded my car in yesterday . . . it was a 1996 Civic and it had to be towed to the dealership because it completely died on Friday!🙁 I had that car for over 10 years and they gave me $600 for it!! 😱 So sad.
I don't have a bike (had to sell it because of living in the city for so long), but I do have some good hiking boots! 👍
I don't have a bike at the moment.. but I might be investing in one this summer... and I haven't done a whole lot of hiking either 🙁, but it does sound like fun, and I'm thinking cumberland gap might be a good place to start! I guess I'll need some boots though... hmm
Does anyone know if there are good trails that allow mountain biking in the area? I used to be really into that before I moved to the flat-land. I'm definitely looking forward to the hiking trails that will be so close. I've gotten used to traveling to get to decent hiking trails.
I have that exact same car (mine is light blue) and I love...absolutely love it!! Congrats on the purchase!!
do we have to buy a parking pass for dcom?
