again - no updates. thats 3 weekdays in a row, perhaps they filled the OOS seats i just wish they would communicate it 😬 😬

Hey, has anyone been able to order their blue coat? I keep watching for the updated link. My LSU email, Workday, etc is all not set up right yet.

I didn't end up joining bc the link was invalid, but maybe someone else has it! I just thought it might have more accepted students who could answer. Or the FB group if you're in it could be helpful as well.

Thank you for updating it. It’s been so weird seeing all these updates like daily but not a single person saying they got a call, I’m like where are these people!?!? lmao.
 
I got a call about an hour ago offering me a seat!!! I'm planning on taking it once I get the email with the form, which she said will be early this afternoon. The waitlist is still moving! So people down the line know what number to look out for, 225 area code, and first three digits are 578, which looks like what a lot of LSU phone numbers are.

I think the class is full, FB group is up to 202 people. I emailed admissions to ask and they sent me the same copy and paste response that if a spot is open and you’re the next candidate blah blah blah lol. Idk why they can’t just confirm if it’s full or not 😭

someone said at one point there were student ambassadors or older students providing guidance in the group so technically there could still be hope if they r still in the group

Thank you for sharing! That’s good perspective to keep. To be fair I think there is still hope in that people can remove themselves from the class for any reason until 9/9, but the movement will definitely slow once the class fills which is what is scary 🫣
 
Finally applied to the masters programs I’d been eyeing for next year… watch tomorrow be the day LSU calls 😂

Be ready for a monster of a post:

At the time of application (GPAs have probably gone up a tiny amount since then):
cGPA: 3.93
science GPA (calculated by VMCAS, not considered by LSU): 3.89
Last 45 GPA (again, not considered by LSU from what I'm seeing): 3.94

A short list of everything I've ever done:
- 515 vet hours, about half and half equine/small animal
- 30 reported hours of pet-sitting
- treasurer for theatre-related student org (288 hours reported)
- sorority (300 hours reported, counted both leadership role and time as general member)
- general body member in theatre-related student org (100 hours reported)
- Pre-Vet club (a whopping 4 hours reported)
- theatre in high school (720 hours reported)
- gamemaster at escape room (300 hours reported)
- for my awards I included being on dean's/president's list as well as my scholarships for undergrad
- QPR ("Question Persuade Refer") Suicide Prevention certificate
Notice the complete lack of research and relatively low vet hour count, compared to many other applicants.

Personal statement: I started with the experience I had as a kid that drew me towards vet med, then briefly talked about my small animal experience during high school, then about the equine experience I'd had over the summer prior to applying, then sort of discussed how I retained my interest in vet med because of the variety of ways in which you can accomplish the same thing. It wasn't very good imo, I was gonna rewrite it if I needed to reapply.

LORs: One vet (didn't spend a whole lot of time with him so idk how good the letter was but he's a pretty big name so that probably helped), manager at the escape room job, cell biology professor

Honestly I think what saved my very middling application were my program essays. I've always thought of myself as a decent writer, and I generally got further through the admissions process at schools that required essays (although there were exceptions). I'd tell you what I discussed in my essays for LSU but I'm fairly certain the prompts are different this year. Also, gonna be so honest, I reread my essays just now and found a grammar mistake that I didn't catch last year.

This is not necessarily true, I'm in that fb group and alot of the people in there are current LSU vet med students and some are parents as well, dont lose hope, wishing the best for all of you!!

As far as watching the updates (I completely understand the anticipation) I’m not sure how much credit I would give to the updates if you’re thinking that the updates are based solely on people getting off the waitlist, it will also update whenever people send in pending transcripts/pre reqs that are required to matriculate. So put simply the system will update whenever someone accepts/declines a seat to the program, and whenever someone is sending in something required (like a transcript) and admission then updates the status. I hope that makes sense

From a phone call I had with admissions my understanding is updates only pertain to seat movement (any and all), but not transcript or pre req movement
 
i believe today(Friday lol its past midnight as im writing this), or by the end of next week (first week of june), i will be removing myself from the OOS waitlist and signing a lease down in grenada at SGU. although i am grateful to have an acceptance to SGU, i'm devastated about LSU and about taking myself off the alts list - i put a lot of time into looking at the program, the area, the curriculum, etc and i do love the program! congrats to everyone who got accepted - either from the waitlist or back in december!
and to everyone else still on the waitlist good luck! maybe tomorrow will be the day one of us gets the call!

It’s a hard call, but maybe it’ll bring some closure to commit to a decision either way. SGU is a very solid program, you should be proud! We’ll all be doctors one way or another! 🫂

Ohh I see! Good to know, maybe it changed after the April 15th deadline because it used to be that it would also update for transcript updates. Thanks for that information!

I could be wrong they’re so cryptic about information haha. The lady on the phone said your individual portal updates when you load transcripts but that’s not accessible to everyone only you and the school and then when it says at the top that the system updates it means a change was made to the class list.
 
hoping the update yesterday was someone declining their seat and today could be someone getting off the waitlist 🤞

I just started working with someone from SGU and she loves it!! She was a little worried to be going there at first but she said she wouldn't change it and the island is beautiful!!

Sloow week last week, but two updates so far this week. Trying to keep hope until there’s more official word that the class is full! Anyone here in accepted students pages know if it may be? I called again and the admissions officer who answered said they didn’t have that information.

Yeah not sure why they won't say if it's full. Lots of students will keep their name on the waitlist regardless. I called to ask and they said they didn't know and I asked if anyone in the office knew and the girl on the phone said "I'm giving you the best answer anyone here can." How is "I don't know" the best answer you have to whether or not the class is full 😭

ughhh - ive given up and taken my name off but its just so annoying not getting any closure. like i wish they would just give us some info, either how many waitlisters got off or if the class is full or ANYTHING

I agree! I just don’t understand why they treat the waitlist so differently than other schools. Just a lil communication would be nice 😅
