I just heard from someone that was at LSU's open house this weekend that letters may be sent out by the 10th (next week) or at least within a week of the 10th. It is getting closer!!😀
 
I hope so. I keep looking at my status online and nothing has changed! When I went for my interview the head of admissions told me it might be late March before letters were sent out, so this is a relief!
 
Well, the subject line of today's email from admissions freaked me out a bit...:scared:
 
I just got an email from admissions. It states that the committee is meeting next week and letters will be sent out on the 17 and 18th. (which sucks, I am tired of waiting) Maybe we will be able to see the change in our status before we get the letters. Some students in the past told me that the also got phone calls and emails saying they got in before they recieved their lettters. We can only hope this trend continues this year!

I know, me too. The bit about not being able to pick up your letter reminds me of some friends that are there now. They drove 4.5 hours (one way) the day the letters were released to pick them up rather than waiting for snail mail.

At least now we know that they should be out this month! Here's for hoping!!
 
Anybody out there currently a student in LSU's vet school? I'd love to get some feedback on how they feel about the school, their opinions on PBL, housing, etc.
 
It looks like they've updated the status pages again...and I'm pretty sure they've tweaked my required courses gpa (not much, but enough to notice). I guess I have too much time on my hands, and I'm checking my status page too much😛

I must have too much, too. For a while there, I was checking it about 2 to 4 times a day. I stopped that this week after talking to Jared G. at the school. No matter what we do we are not going to find out till the week of the 17th. LSU or people in the area are not allowed to pick up their letters this year.

Post man better watch out that week!!
 
Just checked my status on the webpage. This is what was showing 😀!

Official notification letters are currently being processed by the LSU SVM Admissions Office and will be mailed out on March 17th-18th, 2008.
 
Hey guys....my status changed again, and now there is no status. It says 'official notification letters are currently being processed by the LSU SVM Admissions Office and will be mailed out on March 17-18th, 2008'. Does anyone else's say this?😕😕😕
 
Jared said that they are not able to show the status because the web program instantly drops people that are not being accepted. We will just have to wait for the snail mail. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Not sure if I understand this correctly. So if you have not been accepted you are unable to access your status page? But if you can and see the notice about March 16-17 you have probably been accepted or waitlisted? Or are there still rejections to be sent out?
 
From what I learned from emailing Jared awhile ago was that once you were rejected you would not be able to see your status page anymore. I know that they had narrowed the OOS pool down to 150 awhile ago, and I am sure the final notices would have some rejections out of that 150 considering they only take 20 OOS, but maybe everyone that was left got waitlisted. I don't know though....

I'm thinking the same thing....the trick is to find out how long that waitlist is going to be😉
 
No, the reason I posted that was last week I called and talked to Jared. I asked him if we were going to be able to know if we had been accepted by our status on the web page. He said because of web program problems they were not going to indicate out acceptance status online. So, the ablity to still able to access the site is not indicative of anything if you are IS or made the previous cut for OOSers.
 
They just emailed - decisions are on the site.

I'm an alternate! 🙂
 
I'm an alternate too! Although they were a little wordy about it...but I'm not complaining!

I withdrew from LSU once I heard from WSU, so I hopefully made it so you can get in!
 
I cant believe they posted it after Jared told me they were not last week, but I am accepted (IS).😀😀😀

....just wondering for those of you who said you were an alternate & that it was wordy, what it did say? cause mine's wordy too, & it gives me the feeling that i'm an alternate but i just wanted to make sure that's what it overall meant. thanksss!
 
Good Luck Mickeyspet. Making the alt. list is good news. Last year, many OOS people on the waiting lists got accepted!

Does anyone know how the LSU alternate list works? Do they rank? It looks like in the past quite a few got off the list, anyone have an idea of the numbers?
 
I'm on the Alternate list too...Not sure what I'd do if I got in...I'll keep you guys posted though.

Thank you!!!! I really can't believe it. To be honest, I will probably be turning them down for my IS school, but not until I see both schools and get a good feel for them.
 
so whats the group consensus on those of us who are still, "under review"?
 
The email that I received stated "About fifty percent of the new Class of 2012 has been chosen, with the rest of decisions being made next week. " It sounds like you will know something later next week. If you have made it this far, I would say you still have a good chance of getting placed on a list or getting a spot. Good Luck

Hey LittleBit! If you have any free time and are willing to be grilled on LSU, I have a ton of questions but these are the ones that popped up in my mind first...

1. What year are you? What field of vetmed interests you most?
2. How do you feel about the quality of the academic program, labs, lectures, professors, etc?
3. How much hands-on experience have you gotten thus far through the school?
4. What is the alumni network like in terms of helping graduates find positions after graduation?
5. What do you think of Baton Rouge?
6. What are LSU's strengths in terms of program (i.e. large animal, small animal, etc.)?
7. Are you (and the other students) happy? Do people seem satisfied with their experience at LSU?
8. Anything else you think we should know....? 🙂

I'm so sorry to bug you about all of this! Great to hear from a current student, though 🙂.
 
Bumping for little bit.

Anyone know anymore about the LSU waitlist? I got the letter saying the top 150 includes the alternate /accepted. Just wondering what the chances are.
 
Has anybody checked out the status page? It looks like they're 'clocking' the # of acceptances....

For those of you that were accepted OOS, were you given a deadline to accept the offer?

Welcome and congratulations! Are you IS or OOS? I was told that OOS waitlisters would be contacted, but I haven't received anything yet.
