I've heard this is true for a lot of schools! I emailed admissions a while back who confirmed they're seating ~60/200 OOS and the waitlist is "quite long." They also said two years ago they went through the whole thing and last year it barely moved and said it could likely be because of the increase in class size to 176 and over-accepting students which they did again this year 😳. All we can do now is hope for the best! My partner is a student at Tulane so LSU would really be a dream. Fingers crossed and I hope the rest of you waiting hear good news as well.
exactly! I know they say that knowing our placement doesnt guarantee us a seat but its nice to know anyway. I think we all know a waitlist does not guarantee an acceptance but it would be nice knowing where we stand. If im on the very bottom I'd just pull my application instead of waiting 🥲
I agree! I asked about it in my email and they said your place on the waitlist is not a good predictor of whether or not you'll get pulled off which I fear is... not true. At least imo, LOL.
Fully agree like being #1 on the waitlist is a pretty good indicator.. meanwhime being #150 is also a pretty good indication 😭

Last year I got an email from Gretchen at ~ 9:00 pm on the 16th. She told me she would call the next day, but didn’t want to call so late in the day, so it seems like they primarily call between business hours but communication can come at any time!

I'm not sure, but my portal says it updated at 5pm EST and I received my email at 6.
Unless there's information you're actively trying to find, stay off of SDN. Genuinely. Since we don't know our rankings, there's no point in trying to see how much the waitlist has moved - we just don't know. You'll wonder if anyone else has been pulled off, but imo it's better not to know for sure. Checking over and over isn't gonna make that potential acceptance email come any faster. I told myself I was gonna stay off and then I didn't and now I kind of regret checking lmao, but starting tomorrow (or today ig, it's 2 AM oops) for sure I'm really not gonna come back on SDN for a hot minute!
Yeah i'm def staying off some I just am sooo scared knowing they already started sending out acceptances and knowing how they overaccepted and that last year the waitlist didnt move a lot. I know the odds are not in my favor but at this point theres nothing I could do besides hope for the best

yeah i saw it updated yesterday once! perhaps people are gettign acceptances but either not responding immediately or not posting on SDN! hopefully they're just taking their time sending out offers and they have a decent amount :/
For sure. I check reddit and discord too and haven’t seen any talk there, but lots of people don’t use any of these sites so it’s hard to actually tell. I wonder if updating the portal means anything at all in terms of offers going out lol. I have to assume it does but who knows. It’s easy to start doubting but I’m just trying to remain optimistic and remind myself that people have even gotten offers the first week of class!
I sadly have to give myself a deadline of when to pull myself from LSU due to having a seat at SGU but Im hoping for the best either this or next month! Once I get an apartment down in Grenada it would be tough but best of luck to us both! and everybody else!

Since they give 48-72 hours to decide I wonder if they’re sending out rounds of acceptances every 2-3 days? It could make sense those people who received them this week had to decide by yesterday and then a new batch on Monday.
