Marched 2006!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The spots here are already filled. Apparently got tons of inquiries, no shock there, and filled with people who apparently would have been ranked had they applied and interviewed from the start. We'll see. I think we will all be playing "guess which one is the scrambler" next year but perhaps not. 😉

Two years ago both UCSF and MGH didn't fill.
If my memory serves me right, the MGH spot(s?) was/were for CP-only. Same goes for that 1 unfilled Utah spot this year.

This should be easily verified if any of you wants to get on scutwork.com - they usually have UnMatch/Match info on the left-hand sidebar from previous years.

Looking at last year's unmatched list and comparing it to this year's results, it seems that several of the same places that didn't fill last year failed to fill this year as well...many of which are in the south. Is this because of a failure on the part of the program to interview enough candidates or just a reflection of disinterest in particular geographic areas in the south? Any ideas?

Strange that IM had such a large turnout this year. Only 99 unmatched out of so many spots. I thought the trend was shifting away from primary care.

We are going to need a new thread for tommorow...something like "2006 Match"...I nominate Beary to start the new thread 🙂 .Good luck everyone :luck: !!

There are probably some good scramblers out there, but people that use path as a back-up generally suck to work with compared to path enthusiasts.

Completely disagree about this. At our program we have more than one resident who scrambled in after failing to attain their top choice, and they are just as good to work with, if not better. There are probably some bad eggs out there, but you certainly can't generalize to all of them.

Wow, thank you very much! I am honored! 😉

I will start it and post where I match as soon as possible. My folks are here, and I am going up to my lab with some champagne, but am very anxious to see where all my SDN buddies end up matching.

Good luck everybody! :luck: Have fun! :hardy:

That is probably true. There are plenty of bad eggs who have always wanted to do path just as well as there are bad eggs for whom path is their second choice. It's also hard to tell what different residents are like to work with until you actually do. Early on, some of the residents I met at my program that I thought were going to be a pain to work with turned out the opposite, and some I thought were going to be great turn out to be something of a pain.

I wonder how many failed dermatology match people there are who go into path and start angling for a dermpath fellowship from day one.
