This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I like this one a lot more.

Radiation Oncology
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Gastroenterology
Neurology
Otolaryngology
Dermatology
Orthopaedic Surgery
Ophthalmology
Allergy and Immunology
Urology
Pediatrics
Cardiology
Rheumatology
Neonatal - Perinatal Medicine

Yeah, that one is more accurate in my opinion

interesting...

radiology
derm
cardiology
neurosurgery
nuclear med
peds
urology
plastics
gen surg

My highest score is 46 for rads and my lowest is 37 for FP. After that everything else is 38, 39 and a ton of 40s. Does that mean I could probably adapt to any of them?

do the other quiz. it gives a higher variation - i scored 31.86 for my closest and 176.89 for furthest

Haha the Buffalo one listed Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as 3rd to last for me... and that's what I will be applying to next year.

I took this a few months ago and my top three were:

1) Colon and rectal surgery
2) OB/GYN
3) Urology

Thank god....

you really like people's private parts dontcha

This test sucks and is overly repetitive. I bolded my interests.

36 family practice 33

What does it mean if my top 3 are:
nuclear med
radiology
pathology

I don't hate people that much.

I guess the two aren't terribly different...I have plastic surgery, urology, and ortho in my top 10 on both quizzes. Peds surgery would be INCREDIBLE, though. Apparently, I'm just meant for surgery because I don't care that much about my time. :D But plastics? Count me out, please. [Unless they're necessary procedures.]

Dermatology and psychiatry.

Don't know about derm, but I'm definitely interested in psych.

Mine said rheumatology

I really do not think I will be interested in the first two, but I guess I will have to experience them first.

1. Thoracic Surgery - 46
2. Pulmonology - 43
3. Emergency Med. -42
Anesthesiology
Radiation Oncology
Occ. Med
Opthal
ENT

haha.. i was thoractic surgery #1, neurosurgery #2, plastics #3, and general #4.

I think I know what this thing wants me to do. Which is fine, I was thinking about doing neuro or cardiothoractic

This test on this site:

http://www.smbs.buffalo.edu/RESIDENT/CareerCounseling/intro.htm

is a more accurate test in my opinion.
haha I would agree...the one specialty that I for sure even now know I will not go into is at the very bottom lol, like so:

Pediatrics
Anesthesiology
Emergency Medicine
Ophthalmology
Family Practice
Infectious Diseases
Child Neurology
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Rheumatology
Dermatology
Allergy and Immunology
Geriatric Medicine
Internal Medicine
Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism
Medical Genetics
Pathology
Preventive Medicine
Radiology - Diagnostic
Psychiatry
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Obstetrics and Gynecology

and here is the closely matched one, mostly surgery-related, as I have known for like 5 years:

Vascular Surgery
Pulmonary / Critical Care Medicine
Neonatal - Perinatal Medicine
Neurological Suregery
Thoracic Surgery
Pediatric Surgery
Plastic Surgery
Orthopaedic Surgery
Sports Medicine
General Surgery
Cardiology
Colon and Rectal Surgery
Nephrology
Hematology
Gastroenterology
Otolaryngology
Vascular and Interventional Radiology
Urology
Medical Oncology
Neurology
Radiation Oncology

Pretty cool.

Ha! I took this once before but I forget what it said. I just want to sing the Dr. Cox "Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!" song.

Ophthalmology is the only specialty I have COMPLETELY ruled out. Eyes freak me out. Never ever ever.

The only things that remotely interest me from the top 10 are neuro, and, to a much lesser extent, anesthesiology.

The three specialties I think I'm most interested in are Ob/Gyn, Peds (specifically neonatology) and ortho.

It seems that the Buffalo more accurately predicted my top choices (yay ophthalmology :)), but the Virginia test knew what I would hate (family med, EM, colon and rectal surgery). Seriously, Buffalo test, colon and rectal surgery is #1?

You could be Cosmo Kramer, "The Assman", lol

You could be Cosmo Kramer, "The Assman", lol

If I became a colorectal surgeon, I would call the DMV in every single state to find out if the license plate "Assman" had been taken and if not, if they'd let me have it. First state to say "yes" would have me as a new resident.

Ha, no idea what nuclear med is or why it's at the top but I'm glad to see plastics...my long time dreeeam at the top. Anesthesiology is second on my list right now as well. Can't say I'm surprised that family is dead last...

I got Ophthalmology haha that's funny tcuz that's the last thing I see myself doing hah. I love the rest of the human body but the eyes are just creepy to me. lol

seriously, hope you are considering surgery....

lol. Yeah, I do a lot of art and esp sculpting, so I am def interested in integrating that interest into my career if possible. :)

Why are so many of the questions repeated?

I got hematology, med oncology, and anesthesiology...haven't really cared to look into them yet, but maybe now I should :p

psychiatry 44

If I had to say which specialty interests me the most, and I know I know next to nothing right now, I'd say either Pathology or an Internal Medicine subspecialty. I took both tests and the three that showed up in both Top 10s were Pathology, Allergy & Immunology, and Neurology, so I hope that means I'm not completely clueless.
