I'm at work. Can someone possibly ask if dental decisions will be released today the MHS program too?
When I asked I asked about MHS in general not just pre med side. So I believe he said all decisions meaning pre med & pre dent

Thank you to everyone who has called and got info. I'm not getting my hopes up about today (fool me once shame on..shame on you. fool me, you can't get fooled again) and why would they release requirements later. Would that not effect decisions?

Exactly. Some people that have other opportunities need to make decisions ASAP

Exactly if its a 3.75 gpa with a 510 mcat ummm..lemme just do something else with my life like reapply haha ?

Called and no answer. I’ll try again. Hopefully requirements won’t raise that much

I don't understand. If the requirements are a 3.5 and 501 MCAT why would they move a person on to the next stage of the review process who lacks one or the other? Or are those the requirements to matriculate into the next medical class

I just called and was told the same things. The decisions will be released today. The requirements will be changing (higher) and will be stated in the contract later on.

For matriculation into the medical school after the program. However, those stats maybe changing

Thanks for the info..... man they tripping tripping. Why increase the requirements this is starting to look pointless if it’s gonna be much higher scores needed to get in. Ppl might as well just reapply for Med school.
I agree why waste money for that high tuition with such high requirements; might as well spend that money with a one to one MCAT tutor for three to four months. Be a heck of a lot cheaper

Those are the requirements for matriculating as an M1 for next year. The 3.5/501 will be changing due to acceptance of more students.

Thanks to everyone that has taken time to call to get more info ! I am going to really pray for clarity ! I’m having mixed feelings for sure now. My MCAT is my weakness and I have struggled to get a 500. I was cool with 501. But know that’s it’s going up and that I won’t have that number before making a decision has me giving the side eye !

okay, understood. However I think its highly tacky that the new requirements won't be released until around orientation. They may find themselves with a class of much less than 100 if the requirements are too high. No one has 40000 to lose in a program that's not gonna get you any closer.

BIG FACTS ! The basically “guaranteed” was what drew me to the program. But idk now... especially when they’re factoring in more students but decreasing the security

Those are last year's requirements by the end of MHS to matriculate. (After getting in a 3.5 in MHS classes and 501 MCAT by January) Not quirements to get into MHS.

Guys I'm wishing y'all luck. Somebody got to let me know what the new requirements are. I'm heading to Tulane for the MPH and beginning my 6 month MCAT study plan in July.
If you pay attention to this thread still I'm sure someone will post it lol.

Same here.

My GPA is not the issue. I have a 4.0 Masters Program and 3.5 und
Same here.
MCAT is my weakness. I have 3.5 Undergrad and 3.9 grad GPA, I am now wondering if I should just getting me a good MCAT review even if its 5 grand. But Meharry is where I want to go to med school.

Right the MCAT is my weakness, so if they are increasing it much to where you need a 508+ it’s not ideal for those of us who are struggling to get a 500. That’s was the whole point of even being interested in the program, the fact that the required around. 500 score . smh

Same! I struggled to break it as well ! So stressed rn

Guys I don't think it will be a 507. If that's the case you could just right out with those scores. It has to be like min 503 to max 505. I mean you can probably apply straight out with those scores too depending on your application but 503-505 seems more reasonable for a linkage program

So if accepted, we will receive the contract later this summer . So do they still expect us to pay a deposit and commit to loans and etc. before we know what we are getting into ?
That's how it has always been with the program. You don't know the contract until you are on campus to sign. You only know the previous years contact.

If that's the case are you sure you even need this program? Why not just pay for the mcat prep and reapply since your GPA is solid for both undergrad and grad? I'm sure with those scores if you got a 504 you could get into meharry without the program

That’s how I interpreted it.

Yep. My issue would be the MCAT being higher than 501. My grad GPA was pretty solid (3.8+) so, a 3.5 would be reasonable for me to do.

I'm sorry J.Cole popped in to my head as I read this and now I can't stop laughing lol I'm childish

I kinda would be surprised about a deposit since previous classes have not had one I believe. Then again they are switching things up

Not to be disrespectful to y'all with the high grad GPAs. Are y'all grad degree in science? If so, why not just focus on the mcat since that's the thing holding you back and reapply instead of getting into more debt (if you have it)? It's cheaper. I know Meharry's min is like 498 and not sure what they took on the high end last year but I don't think higher than a 508

Thanks to everyone that called to try to get further information because I got so discouraged when she told me the “7,000 applications” thing. I thought we had cleared that up earlier in the cycle, so I was confused when she said that. But, I’m going to stay positive and think that it was for all of the programs! However, it does seem that we all get different information when we call, so we just have to remain hopeful that we hear good news this week!

I’m not trolling at all, just trying to get information and accepted to medical school like the rest of us.

From when I spoke to him he made it clear they PLAN/want to send out acceptances today. But if not it will be this week.

So I mean....we can hope worst case Friday. But idk there is no benefit to stressing out more lol. When it comes it comes ya know.

For me, I am sick of reapplying and taking the MCAT. I’m done after this. My MS degree was done at a medical school and was all science except the thesis course. I’m an old non-trad and would be like the grandma of the class.

If you're grandma, I'm like mama lol
