Plenty:

The Big Cheesy
The Rum house
Neyow's Creole Café (house favorite)

So many spots on the real.

Lol I’m actually mad you said The Big Cheesy!! You don’t come down here and eat grilled cheese. There’s not even one left in New Orleans anymore!

Nope. Only in Kenner and Baton Rouge. Lol but you don’t tell someone to go to New Orleans and get grilled cheese!

I used to like them but something is off about their cheese fries now and that's the only reason I had for going there so I haven't been in awhile. I keep thinking im getting an important email but it's just them...
Ahhhh gotcha

My situation isn’t good if I haven’t been accepted anywhere and I’m old as hell.
Well, Meharry is a non-traditional student friendly med school. So, you'll just have to feel good about their expressed interest in your application at this point. Also, one good thing about medicine is that there is no mandatory retirement age for doctors. I'm 46 and actually believe that being older is an advantage in psychiatry.

Lemme tell you. The undergraduate library at HU closed years ago and was supposed been renovated. It's still closed. It probably will be open in 25 years lol Not the same thing nor is there any good excuse for it but hey. Once we're in, get through the program and do well we'll look back and just laugh and be proud of how far we came.
Founders Library is closed! I'm a '94 alum of H.U. I agree with your sentiments about looking back and laughing about this tedious experience.

Lol Howard is so close to me as well but I have no love for them since they rejected me flat out ! Meharry at least told me about this program so I’m thankful!
You know something, that's precisely why I'm partial to Meharry over Howard too, although I'm a Bison. If I'm accepted to MHS and subsequently accepted into Meharry, then I'm going to Meharry. Also, I like that Meharry is comprised of students solely devoted to healthcare and there aren't immature undergraduate students around.

I can respect that but I don’t feel the same. Meharry makes a huge impact on the community and actually walks according to their mission statement unlike a lot of schools I know. It’s a historic school that has made a way for black people to become doctors where few others have and given even those on the lower spectrum of the academic scale a chance to compete for a spot in medical school where other schools write them off. I have a lot of respect for meharry despite the aggravation of this process.
I couldn't express my agreement with your comment any better than you have. This is a minor inconvenience in the big picture of things. The person to whom you replied to may want to take the path that most medical students (non-urm students) take and attend a PWI. Then do residency in PWI run hospital, then become a doctor in a middle-upper middle class area with mostly white patients. When you deal with black people, nothing is easy and/or ideal. The medicaid reombursements won't be as lucrative as the insurance payments our white counterparts will receive either.

It happens. I don't think Howard has a program like this. I mean I didn't do a secondary because because my 493 meat was way below their minimum. It's why I'm going to take 6 months to study and reapply in June 2020
I got a 493 too, but they e-mailed me informing that if I didn't have at least a 494 on the mcat, not to bother completing their secondary application. I don't know why your thinking that we are way below their minimum.

You're allowed to complete a secondary with 493 of you plan on retaking the mcat in January and scoring higher. Unfortunately I ended up getting the same score

I think it's safe to say that the email isn't coming today

I'm not stressing about it but I'm not expecting it to come today given how late it is.

That’s some great insight ! I definitely agree with you there ! If everyone in here is in the class it’s about to be AMAZING! I love diversity and different perspectives and experiences being able to come together to achieve the same goal !

It's 6pm EST since they are 1 hour behind us on the east coast. But my rejection later for the med program was at 10:54pm EST so anything is possible lol

I’ve had interview invites and rejections come in the middle of the night 12am-4am EST.

I thought it was a 495 or 496. Regardless, I have to get the score to at least a 500 to even play the game.
