Huge congrats! How nice to know so early! I may have missed this, but are you IS or OOS, Seadertree?

Does anyone know how many points the adcoms play with when designating for the eLors, research, vet/animal experience?

Thanks! Yeah it is nice to know early. I am OOS I live in PA!

I think my SIS was only about 830, but I do have an interesting background that probably made up for it.

Congrats to all so far!! I know there will more over the next few (grueling) months!

My numbers don't say much for me, but my background does (I think!). PhD in biochem and 3 years in translational medicine/gene therapy really showed me how much I want to be in there with my first true love...vet school. Hoping to do some animal welfare work too, make sure all us scientist are doing what we can do in vitro first!

Congrats to those who have been accepted! I still haven't heard anything yet 🙁. So far I've gotten one rejection and haven't heard anything from the other two schools. I'm praying that I get some form of good news soon! :xf:

Come on Michigan, send out more acceptances before this year is over please! That way I can be a bit more selecive about my interviews in January, instead of worrying that that I'll regret turning down any of them. SIS 876-910 ish. I should be hearing back soon right? :<

Was bored enough to hunt down last year's thread and it seems like they just keep sending acceptances every few weeks in small batches. Augh the suspense.

Does anyone know offhand if you can defer a year at MSU? I have emailed them, but I haven't heard anything yet. I know all schools are different and I didn't see anything on their website or in previous threads for them specifically. . .

MSU ATA Program on Feb 15th, woop woop! Who's going?

I'm also going to the ATA Program Feb 15th! How in the world I got that who knows!! Sometimes I still think MSU confused me with someone else and they're going to take back my acceptance haha. Quick question, if you're going to the ATA are you still planing on going to one of the welcome days?

I have another question for all the MSU peeps- I've been trying to look for more info on the school but there's not much out there. Any current students can give some opinions on how you like it there? 🙂 If you're OOS even better 😀 that OOS tuition is scarrrry

I was wondering the same thing about welcome days... If I find out the answer I'll let you know!

Can anyone recommend good areas to look at for housing near MSU? I am hoping to find property to rent so I can bring my horses with me, but I might have to do with a small house/apt and board! Any info would be great!!

I am IS and attend MSU for undergrad. I don't know much about housing, however there are some great apartment close to campus like Glenwood and Berrytree which allow dogs and cats. I know that they have already started leasing for next August (all apartments in East Lansing start leasing for the next cycle around Sept/Oct.) I hope this helps a little! Good luck!

Hello everyone, I'm sorry this might be a dumb questions but if you don't mind answering I would really appreciate it. What does SIS stand for exactly? And how do you calculate SIS?

I'm about to email admissions, but does anyone know if they're done sending out acceptances for this cycle (other than for filling spots from withdrawn applicants)?
I'm OOS-Indiana

No idea! But I hope not! Could you keep us updated on their response if they write back to you? I'm oos and wondering as well!

I'll definitely post what I get back!

I'm getting so anxious nowadays. I've got three schools left to hear from and two of them I know for sure I find out about this week, so Michigan is the only one left in the air.

Hello, can anyone give me a list of some nice apartments that are close to the vet school. Also, ones that allow in a cat and/or a large dog.
Thanks!!

Hey,

I'm not applying to MSU vet school (hoping for Illinois!), BUT I did just graduate there from undergrad! The vet school is in kind of a weird location of campus but it is on the main campus. Any apartments on Hagadorn south of Grand River are reasonably close to the vet school. But one of the really nice things about MSU is the CATA bus, it makes living anywhere easy to get to. The 26 is the line that goes all the way down Abbott road and I know there are several apartments on Abbott that allow animals. The bus runs every 6 to 10 minutes and takes you all the way to Shaw right across from the Chemistry building which is 1.5 blocks from the vet school! I lived in the Village at Chandler (furthest stop on Abbott) one year and they allow animals. If you have any questions about MSU feel free to message me! It's amazing, I miss East Lansing so much!

Thank you! I wanted to start looking for apartments over winter break before my classes start up again. Good luck to you GrizzlyBear11!

Here is the response I got back from admissions this morning. Not incredibly helpful, but it gives me a little bit of hope! ...I think?

"We have sent some notificaitons out, however at this time we cannot give you a specific date you should expect to hear from us. We are expecting to mail and e-mail more notifications between now and February."

Housing:

DTN management is the biggest housing company around here. You can check out their website to see prices/locations. http://www.dtnmgt.com

I lived at Abbot Place during undergrad and loved it. It's a little pricey, but the rooms are furnished and they paid for my bus pass, but not pet friendly. http://abbottpl.com/

I live in a DTN community right now and will next year, too. A lot of cvm students live in College Towne, which is a 10 minute drive from the school and pet friendly. My apartment is $326/month including cable and internet, and I live with 3 other people. http://www.dtnmgt.com/lansing/college-towne-east/

Chandler Crossings is also a big complex and some of the buildings are pet friendly.
