This thread is for discussing applications to Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine in the 2024-2025 (class of 2029 hopefuls) cycle.
I know that VMCAS is not due until 9-16-24 - you have to have all your transcripts into VMCAS if you want everything verified. I submitted my VMCAS on 6-23-24 (I was applying to LMU that had a soft due date of 6-30-24 for VMCAS for entry into the Silver/Spring class) and my application by VMCAS was verified within 3-4 days (quick!)- Even though my VMCAS is completed and verified- I can still add experiences- LOR- and even additional schools to apply to (once you make changes there is a blue 'button' near the top to update your application and send it to the schools you have applied to)- but you cannot add additional classes- nor have transcripts verified (because VMCAS- during verification- computes your GPAs)- so if you have 1-2 outstanding classes that you will have completed in time to have the transcripts sent to VMCAS before the deadline of 9/16- I would go that route- because it shows you have completed all your required prerequisite classes (and if you got good grades in those classes it can help your GPA)- however, if you will not have those classes completed by 9/16 (for transcripts to be sent- etc.)- I would then go ahead and submit (as long as you are not missing more than the allowed prerequisite classes- I am not sure what it is for Midwestern- I have found most schools allow for 2 outstanding classes- some more...Also- don't forget that if you are missing a prereq. class- enter in where/when you are taking that prereq- some programs will reject you automatically if you are missing any prereqs and do not put in VMCAS when/where you plan to take those classes). I do not know if you have a better chance of submitting early- as VMCAS is not due until 9/16 so I do not think they can penalize you for meeting the deadline- but I am not sure.Does midwestern need for everything to be verified before submission? I have 2 classes that I'm waiting on but if it's beneficial to submit sooner than later (rolling admissions), I will do it!
From my understanding, it is rolling admissions but I haven't heard anything and I submitted my application 8/13/24How quick does midwestern let you know whether you got an interview or not?
I haven't heard back yet. Submitted everything by July 28th.Has anyone heard anything from Midwestern? This time last year interviews were already sent out. Thanks - and good luck to everyone applying!
Hopefully we'll hear something soon regarding interviews! I'm just so surprised since it's technically rolling admissions.I haven't heard back yet. Submitted everything by July 28th.
Okay! Definitely makes me feel better! I hope we hear something next week!Chiming in to say I also haven’t heard anything about an interview yet. I applied in early July. Portal still says “awaiting decision.” Fingers crossed we hear something soon!
This is my first application cycle, so I am not entirely sure but I would think that because it is still early in the cycle, you still have a chance of getting an interview! Do you mind sharing when you submitted your application?Hi guys i got an update in my application today! It says i got waitlisted for an interview, does anyone know how likely it would be for me to get one?
I also just got waitlisted for an interview! wondering the same thingHi guys i got an update in my application today! It says i got waitlisted for an interview, does anyone know how likely it would be for me to get one?
Same, I wonder if anyones gotten an interview for Midwestern?also waitlisted for interview! I wonder if this is the first step before interviews or if some people will get immediate interview invites
Were the people waitlisted offered interviews or was it the people who haven't heard anything?Last year I was looking and people were sent interview in their portals two days after the waitlist email was out

Anyone who got an application update, did you get an email or happen to check the page?
Not yet - my applicant portal still says "status: awaiting decision". Did you receive a status update on your portal before getting interview waitlisted?I got an email, and then checked the portal (which was also updated). Has anybody not been placed on the waitlist after application review/received an interview invite?
I submitted mine on 9/2! Hoping that since they have rolling admissions we will fly off the waitlistThis is my first application cycle, so I am not entirely sure but I would think that because it is still early in the cycle, you still have a chance of getting an interview! I've also not received anything as of yet. Still 'awaiting decision'Not yet - my applicant portal still says "status: awaiting decision". Did you receive a status update on your portal before getting interview waitlisted?
I believe you can do virtually or in-person.Are interviews conducted virtually, in-person, or is there a choice?
I haven't gotten any updates.I believe you can do virtually or in-person.
I'm anxiously refreshing my applicant portal since interview waitlists were sent out. Has anyone heard anything since then?
I haven’t heard anything from them at all, but my VMCAS was only verified today.I believe you can do virtually or in-person.

Same here. I’ve been a bit surprised because this was one of the first schools I expected to hear something from and my VMCAS was verified back in July. I guess their timeline is just different this year!I believe you can do virtually or in-person.

Will they email us or should we regularly check our portal?I haven't gotten any updates.
From past forums it seems like it's more of a traditional waitlist, but it also seems like they have changed their admissions timeline this year because last year, they released interview invites early September. So honestly who knows! I also think that since its early in the cycle, everyone on interview waitlist has a great chance of getting an invite!Does anybody know if every person offered an interview is first placed on the interview waitlist (like UoA) or if it is more of like a traditional waitlist where you only get a spot if another applicant declines? I’m hoping the first option, but not sure!

So does being interview waitlisted mean a bad thing? Like does that mean you are not the first to be picked for interviews? I am confused, if someone could clarify.
Yeah I am surprised as well! Last year it seemed like they had their first interviews in mid-September. Im worried that I haven't gotten an update yet (i.e., no interview waitlist yet). It makes me feel like either im just rejected or there are delays in the application process this year that are preventing us from hearing back interview invites. Trying to stay positive!Same here. The only email I’ve gotten from them was to log in to my applicant portal. Since then, I’ve just had one update in the portal (currently awaiting decision) and that update was solely in the portal—it didn’t come with an accompanying email. I’ll be checking both email and portal just to make sure I see anything, but it seems like the portal is definitely a necessary part. Will they email us or should we regularly check our portal?
I am also a low gpa applicant but wasn’t placed on the interview waitlist, which makes me nervous I won’t get an interview.I didn’t ask when interviews were held specifically, but when I called I received confirmation that the interview waitlist is like a traditional waitlist where we won’t be offered an interview unless others decline theirs. If you haven’t been placed on the interview waitlist, I would not be concerned. My guess is that the interview waitlist is for people who did not meet the GPA cutoff, and I say that solely because I am a low GPA applicant and I was placed on the waitlist the day after the VMCAS deadline. I could totally be wrong in my way of thinking, but thats my best guess at the moment.

Yeah you're totally right. I submitted and was verified by August 13th! This time last year, interview invites were already released though.. Let's just hope for the best!I could be wrong then, or maybe the cutoff could be lower than your gpa, or it could be that they review applications before placing people on the interview waitlist. My sci gpa is a 3.01, so I barely made the cutoff. My app was also verified 8/29, so it’s possible that they simply just looked through my application and decided to put me on the waitlist, but have not gotten to others that submitted later on. There are a ton of reasons why you might not have an update, and it is hard to say anything for certain. All we can really do at this point is wait and see what happens.
