Yaaay! Glad to see a good review for Dexter!
Yeah, they do have a pretty hefty deposit you have to pay, including a pet deposit per pet, but I plan on being here all four years, so it wasn't too hard to stomach. I know another vet student who lives in the same duplex as me, and the woman next door works at the VMTH (we have totally opposite schedules though so I don't think I'd even recognize her

I live at Parks Edge which is right across the street from a middle school AND a city park, so it is super convenient to go out for walks and stuff. Most everyone here has pets, and there is a dog park about 2 miles down the road, and you can actually walk to it from the park that is across from our duplex.
I'm about 10-15 minutes from school depending on traffic, and it is easy to get to/from school, two grocery stores, and a few restaurants. As their website says, the backyards vary in size because some of the duplexes sit on a cul de sac, but they are still of sufficient size. We do have to mow our own lawns, but there are kids in the neighborhood, so you could probably pay one of them to do it lol. UPS is comfortable leaving packages, which is convenient for Purina's free food program. I have classmates who live in places where the delivery people won't leave the food, so they have to go pick it up.
Really, the only bad things I've had happen is our foundation has settled a bit (we told management and they elected not to do anything which is fine because the doors and windows still shut) and a middle-school-aged-kid ding-dong-ditched my house and left a burning bag of dog poop on my front porch. I poured water on it, put it in the trash, and then later a boy came up to tell me that he was sorry that happened and he tried to talk is friend out of it 🙄 We have enough nice/cute kiddos in the neighborhood to make up for it though lol. Halloween is especially fun! I got to see Thor, Batman AND Spiderman this year.
It is also a very quiet neighborhood, which is nice for me. I can't speak for their other housing developments though.
Hmmm... I think that about covers it. Let me know if you have any other questions about Columbia or the school though!
