MPH 2020: Applied, Accepted, Rejected, Waitlisted

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Where did Columbia say they’d send decisions by the end of the week? And was this for a specific department?

But yea end of this week for sure means at the last second, maybe even next week.
Someone called or emailed (earlier in the thread) and admissions told them people who applied by the priority date would know by the end of this week! I think it goes for any program/department.

Oops must have missed that one...thanks!

But is there anyone who emailed/called them this week? Because the “end of January” story is what we’ve been told a few weeks ago (or at least that’s what they told me on 1/9). Last week however they have told someone on this thread already early Feb...

so was just wondering if we have any recent updates about their timeline 🙂

keeping my fingers crossed though for this week. Too nervous and excited...

Even though I'm sure last year's decision patterns mean nothing now...last year Columbia was sent on a Wednesday...so maybe tomorrow 🙄

Called Columbia again because I’m so anxious. They said we will know late this week-early next week. Expecting like a Friday-Tuesday situation. This is for all departments, and they didn’t ask if I met priority this time so maybe even folks who applied a bit later too?

first round was on a Wednesday but all the other rounds were on different days, so honestly i don't think that there is a pattern, we're all trying to find one just to keep ourselves sane 🙂)

For all of you obsessing over bad GRE scores, I think my application is a testament to how holistic this application process is. I’ve talked with a few program representatives, and they mostly want to see that you are committed to the field of public health and want to make a difference!

At this point, I feel like Columbia is doing this on purpose so that when the decisions come out we are all excited that we have gotten accepted to Columbia and go there LMAO

My SOPHAS GPA was only a 3.24 (My last 60 hours were totally bombed due to personal hardships that I explained in my personal essay).

GRE: Verbal- 166 Quant- 152

I was terrified that I would not be accepted anywhere due to my GPA (My last 60 hours were only a 2.60!), but I have so far been accepted to 7 of the 9 programs I applied to, with scholarships. So, don’t give up! You never know what can happen.

Applied: Harvard, BU, GWU, NYU, U Pitt, Drexel, Hofstra, Emory, Tulane

Accepted: NYU, Tulane, BU, GWU, U Pitt, Drexel, Hofstra. Still waiting on Emory and Harvard.

random q. Is anyone applying for the Oxford MSc in global health? I saw on their website interviews are supposed to start this week, but I haven't gotten an email. Are they not extended to everyone?

Yes, I am! So interviews are only for shortlisted candidates and when I emailed them last week they said: "the shortlisted applicants for interviews will hear back from us by the end of this month and interviews will take place in the first week of February."

Hi everyone. Good morning. I didn't get an official email yet but my JHU portal says I got accepted to the full time accelerated MPH. I can't believe this. I am very happy 🙂 good luck to everyone who is waiting. Grateful for this kind and supportive community.

For anyone who applied to UNC, is the portal supposed to say anything about your application being under review? Everything for my application was received/accepted on their end on 1/13 and I can't tell if anything is happening from the portal.

I don't think it has any indication that it's under review, other than the "application proof"

Hi y'all I have a few questions regarding the Columbia MPH application. I keep seeing something about a "priority deadline," however I didn't see that on their website. Is that just the rolling admissions deadline of January 15th? Additionally, I applied on the 14th and my GRE scores arrived a little late. Admissions told me that my application will still be considered so does anybody know if my decision will be released at the same time as everyone else who applied by the 15th? Admissions wasn't super helpful in answering these questions and I know it is a weird circumstance so any insight would be appreciated!

The priority and scholarship consideration deadline was the beginning of December (I think Dec 1), I’m not sure why that’s no longer on the website. I think Jan 15 is the final deadline, and even if your scores are a bit late, as long as you applied by that day you should be good.

I don’t know what that means for decisions timelines but It at least sounds like you will be considered. Sorry that info wasn’t more helpful, but good luck!

Congratulations!! Where on the portal did it give you your decision!!??

It said at the top of the portal "An update to your application was last posted January 29, 2020." and the link opened a congratulatory video.
