btw IntriguedStudent I see from your profile that you're from Atlanta. How do you like it down there? I'm from the New England area and have never been to Georgia. Hopefully I'll get to visit Emory before making a decision but I'm not sure yet If i'll be able to.
Nope nothing still! Maybe we're getting the links based on when we submitted? Who knows lolHave either of you gotten the email yet? I still haven't received it.

Seriously, I've been refreshing my email so much! I just wanna know at this point.Ahhh, I knew that Yale was going to start sending out decisions today. It was just a feeling. Been checking my email all day expecting to hear from them prior to checking this board. I'm not too optimistic about my application, though. Seems like folks are more likely to be rejected than accepted there (based off the older threads I've seen).
Rejected or accepted, I just wanna know for peace of mind!
Nope! AgggghhhhhHave either of you gotten the email yet? I still haven't received it.

The weather is sporadic, but we get essentially no snow. However, when we do get snow the whole city shuts down (which you New Englanders would probably get a pretty great laugh from).
Got it!! Thanks!Yes! it took me a while to figure it out. Just click on the link they've put in the e-mail (don't login), and right under the login field there is a link in blue (it's the third one down) that says "Manage your Novell/ My HSPH account" click on that and that'll direct you to the password change form
Nope haven't heard a thing.Has anyone heard back from the Yale health policy & management department regarding a decision? It seems like it's been mostly the Epi department decisions today...

I think more people get rejected because they really want to keep the class size small. I saw a recruiter at a career fair and she said that their class size is one of the smallest of all MPH programs (about 150 across all programs I believe).
Yes!! That guy!! Well, I guess several guys have the vests? sashes? with the oils. Personally haven't had too many strange encounters on the metro, but have had quite a few on buses. 🙄 Anyways, yes - I have the same goals too, so it does really seem like staying here is the best idea!

Ahaha! I used to work at a non-profit off the Southern Avenue stop. Whew. You're guaranteed to see a couple of peculiar stuff over there. Especially when you were on the Green Line going up to Branch Ave. after 3PM (crazy youths)... Happy to know I wasn't the only one noticing the dude selling oils. I kept asking my co-workers if they saw him, but they kept telling me no. I started to think that I was losing my mind! 😳
I think I've had a couple of odd experiences since I look very young for my age. I still get mistaken for a high schooler and I'm in my mid-twenties. Had a kid asking me in DC if I was going to my high school's homecoming
Anyway, if I do decide to go I would love to go sight seeing. I missed out because I was mostly there during the government shutdown. If we both go, we should go sight seeing together!
That pretty much matches up with the small amount of research I've done on Yale. I suppose it creates a more intimate atmosphere.
Gee, thank you. you've really lifted my spirits. MPHers are a lot more supportive of others than pre-meds. it's a breath of fresh air!
I'm glad to have helped! I've been so impressed by how supportive and positive everyone is on this forum!
Honestly, it's very likely you were the first person accepted to the MPH in epi, so that is really something to be proud of. And you might discover you like it better than if you had gone to med school. One of the reasons I'm doing the MPH is because it gives you a broad array of health career opportunities. You might not be making 6 figures out of the MPH, but you're also going to have a much better work/life balance for much longer. There's a lot less stress, too, and no risk of malpractice suits. I've read a lot of personal accounts of people who went to med school, including on this site, and plenty are glad they did and wouldn't have it any other way, but plenty of others wish they would have taken other paths due to the extreme level of commitment on every level (financial, time, emotional, legal, etc.). And, like I said, it can be a gateway to med school if you choose it to be (or really any other potentially related doctoral level program). 🙂
I'm still considering med school, but I've been in another career for so long (one with a very good work/life balance), that I'm not ready to make that commitment. And, for me personally, I enjoy math, research, and writing much more than lab sciences. Especially if you're recently out of undergrad, it might give you an opportunity to become more aware of what you enjoy doing most.
No email for me at this time. I submitted my application through SOPHAS on 12/15/2014. The only email they send to me is the “HSPH: We have received your application" letter. I am a bit worried.....Has anyone else just received the HSPH account information email from HSPH?
I am now addicted to checking my email, but nothing new for me 🙁. (Sometimes I hate smart phones because I refresh my inbox every 5 minutes haha.) Did anyone happen to apply for Global Environmental Health or Environmental Health at Emory? I received an email last month (12/14) notifying me they received my application, but my application hasn't been routed to my department of choice yet.No email for me at this time. Also could depend on which department you've applied to, some may be working faster that othersI wouldn't worry, I think it's a standard e-mail they send to all applicants which they probably send depending on when your app was verified and marked as complete. My app was verified on 11/5/2014, I'm sure they send the e-mails in stages.

My friend lives in Savannah and said there was a 2 hr school delay because it was 39 degrees... It was 11 degrees this morning when I left my house... You southerners are hilarious
Thanks for the inside scoop on ATL though!
Uh-oh this is wierd

Hey I need some help for those who've applied to UIC. I submitted my supplemental application this past week (yesh, I know). However, when I logged back on their application system to check my status, it says my application is incomplete. I submitted everything else (transcripts, LoR, and SoP) way back in late November via SOPHAS. Are they expecting to have those items sent again, but this time directly to them?
ahhh gotta love that IKEA. have u had any contact with them? Its not a popular school for public health so I have absolutely no idea when they send out their decisions. I know the deadline is approaching so I guess I'll call in the weeks following to ask a rough estimate. but the wait is killing me !! and cant u take the green line in to college park, or is that the commute u were talking about that you hated lol

Thanks for letting me know! I can't wait to get itJust received the e-mail with my account info. You should get yours soon!
I finally logged on to OPUS (I had login already as I've taken a class there as a Special Standing student). I saw that my application was complete but no other information. I now realize that I can check status of application on Opus....could be hard to stay away!Same here! Can't stop checking OPUS haha
I've been trying to limit my checking Opus to once a day. I'm not doing too well with that!I finally logged on to OPUS (I had login already as I've taken a class there as a Special Standing student). Okay
Apparently there will be a decision letter posted there when the time comes? They're supposed to email you to check when they have it posted. Elsewhere it says a decision will be announced 1-2 weeks after it is made, which doesn't really help with when the decision will be made! 😛 I'm confused by the whole "Your application is incomplete" bit but underneath it shows I submitted an application specifically to the School of Public Health, which appears to be fully complete. I guess it says incomplete since some people use the portal for the entire application and it's for other grad programs too.

Health Policy + Management must be carefully rummaging through applications.Yeah mine looks the exact same, its listed as incomplete like u said because its used for other grad programs. and we applied via SOPHAS and only had to complete the supplemental. Idk man. where did u see about the 1-2 weeks? that doesnt even help smh. lol

Aghhhhh I'm still bitter about having to pay an extra $75!!!! Since I'm not a MD resident, most of the forms were not applicable to me and I had to request an official transcript from my college...just so I could scan it and upload it??? No, I couldn't have my school send it to them, and I couldn't upload an unofficial one - nevermind that SOPHAS has my official one and has verified it. Nooo, sirr. Sorry, I'm being dumb and probably have been spoiled by SOPHAS, which, while not perfect, is extremely convenient (usually) for the applicant.
So, this site says decisions should be handed out by March - but it's for all grad programs:

Shoot, maybe I misspoke about the 1-2 weeks thing. I'll keep looking for it!
I actually called them not too long ago. @nblues and @IntriguedStudent were right about them being backed up. Calming down.

This is stressing me out. I was sure I would hear SOMETHING this week. Nope. It's just been silence. Now we will likely just have to sit around and wait until Monday (fingers crossed that we hear something in the next four hours!).Whew, not exactly in the same boat with the same schools, but I'm freaking out because it's Friday and that means TWO DAYS with no real possibility of decisions being issued. 😱

Also, I'm antsy because GW has said they're backed up with sending admit packages and I guess they could arrive to us any day now.
Rational me says that I shouldn't check opus until I hear that some of you guys in glepi/epi have heard back but irrational me is saying to refresh opus a billion times a day![]()
Thanks for letting me know! I can't wait to get it
Have you received the email from HSPH with the account info yet? I still haven't received it and just want to make sure I'm not the only one!!
😱 What exactly did GW say about this? I'm so antsy to hear back from them.

I submitted my application on 12/9 and had a complete application on 12/30. I received an email from GW on 12/30 stating that they received my application and that I'd be hearing back in 8-10 weeks. Anyone know if it's a true 8-10 week turnaround? I'm getting anxious seeing that some have already heard back from them, but I know I applied later in the year. Thanks and good luck to all!!![]()
I applied in early-mid November and heard back in roughly 6 weeks. I'm not sure what the turnaround time has been recently, but I would assume 8-10 weeks is probably a pretty accurate estimate. Good luck!
Thanks so much for the quick reply! I will (try to) sit here patiently. Did they notify you via email or snail mail?
No problem! Waiting is the hardest part. I received my notification via e-mail.
