Hi I heard back from Pittsburgh ( rejection) within 3 weeks of applying ( I applied to their community and behavioral sciences program ).
Also Boston university wrote an email that said they've received my application and will inform me of a decision by the end of December.
Waiting just like you to hear back from Michigan ( though I did receive a materials accepted email ).
No idea about Yale.

I received an email saying that Michigan received my application on 11/30. I got accepted on 12/10 (for Global Health Epidemiology).

I'm not too sure how Temple ranks compared to Drexel but I know Temple's MPH is a program of public health versus a school of public health. I think ranking surveys usually just include/look at schools...

I submitted to SOPHAS on 11/2, was verified on 11/16, and received the "application received" email from Michigan on the 23rd. I wasn't complete until 12/2 (GRE scores). I applied to Health Behavior/Education.

Other update of interest: I applied to WUSTL on 11/29 and on 12/4 received the email that I was complete and under review.

Have you received your OPUS login info yet? I received an email from Emory more than a week ago that my application had been received and confirmed as complete. I still have not seen any updates about accessing the Emory OPUS system, however -- based on Emory's website, as well as this forum thread and 2015's, accessing OPUS seems to be integral to not only obsessively checking application status, but also finalizing some application details (second choice program, etc.)

Application received on 11/30 for Michigan. Got acceptance letter on 12/10. I think BU should be sending out decisions by the end of December. Looks like Yale might be taking their sweet time though.
 
For anyone who may have applied to UPenn - they've finally confirmed the receipt of my app. A little over a month after I submitted. They'll move slow but at least they are moving!

BU is rolling admissions, right? Their deadline is listed as Jan. 5.

I also applied to Yale. Their website says it's a rolling admissions and they will start to send out notifications in mid Dec. So anytime now really!

When did you hear from pitt/submit your application if you don't mind me asking? I submitted on 10/27 to epi and still haven't heard back so I'm getting really nervous
 
Anyone gotten verified recently and could share their submitted>verified dates? My app is finally complete and I hope the verification times are as quick as they were a few weeks ago and that SOPHAS isn't backlogged!

My application was "complete" (last ref letters in) on 12.11, and my application was verified this morning (12.15)! Quick turnaround 🙂

Hi everyone! I just recently decided I want to pursue a career in Global Health and although it's late I'm filling out SOPHAS now and getting everything done.

I have 2 questions. I have a low GPA compared to most of you (2.9) and was wondering what schools you think might be good to apply to with this low GPA. Also, I am interested in NYU's MPH, why haven't many people applied there?
 
Anyone have an insight as to why Emory asks about religious preference on SOPHAS?

You can actually just email [email protected] and give any secondary or tertiary programs of choice via email

**I am a MSN/MPH applicant at Emory. I sent my choices via email and was told that this program was added to my application**
 
For those of you who applied to UMich, how long did it take them to let you know they received your application? I'm stressing way too much haha

I can't speak to everyones experience but I think a lot of people don't apply there on this thread because it is a program rather than a school of public health, and therefore its not ranked on world news (which most people use when they start looking at public health degrees naturally). BUT it is really important to note that while rankings may carry some weight, they should not be a factor for what programs you apply/attend. Almost every single professor I have ever talked to has always made it a point to stress that picking a graduate school is about picking a right fit where you can develop your research interests. Apply to NYU if you like what work they are doing, if you can see yourself gaining valuable experiences there, etc.

On the other hand, and this is totally up for debate, some people say that being in a school of public health rather than a program that is in a school of medicine such as NYU is better because you have more of a community, stronger alumni networking, and a more interdisciplinary view of public health.

But remember that these are just peoples opinions at the end of the day, you should apply to where you think you will be the most happy and benefit the most from your experiences/education.

I know Tulane has a pretty good program, especially for global health, and they seem to be more lenient with GPA and other scores. Just present your case well with your SOPs and you should be good!

Submitted Dec 8, received a notice on Dec 11. They're pretty good about letting you know if there is anything missing in your application.

same for me as it was for @montreux. I received a notice within a couple days of submission! And they told me to keep checking wolverine access, as it would say whether our application was complete or not (not SOPHAS).

I'm not particularly sweating it because none of my classes this semester are really related to public health (I finished my requirements early) and I don't anticipate any changes to my GPA. Also because profs at my school don't have a deadline for the fall semester to get grades in there is nothing I can really do. I'm not sure how SOPHAS deals with submitting new grades, though I do know the non-SOPHAS PhD programs I applied to want them e-mailed to admissions as soon as I have my grades. I definitely think it is worth checking out if they will take them, especially if it will help you.

Your profile is excellent....I can assure you that you will be accepted atleast from UAB and GWU. I am not sure about Harvard, UMich and Emory because I don't know much about them (as I didn't apply there). Hope you will get positive result from them too.

Seems to me from their website that Harvard doesn't accept students straight from undergrad. Anyone know more about this?

MPH likes some work experience, but the MSPH (they call it SM program), depending on the actual program, may accept undergrads. I applied to SM 80 credit global health program with little to no experience.

Also, when I last emailed HSPS, they said that besides the health management program within the MPH program (where they do require 2 years(?) of work experience), the other programs within the MPH program do not require but recommend you to have work experience. As far as I know, that's a very recent change they have made too.
