Hey, I was accepted into global communicable diseases about two days ago through an e-mail (I also applied for their dual program), but haven't heard back from Epi yet...so we are kind of reversed. I wonder why?
 
For the Michigan self-reflection question, what are they looking for that you did not already answer in the SOP? It just feels very redundant to me.

Totally felt redundant to me, too. I talked about my work with helping minorities, like women and Spanish-speakers. Also, I went into how I would like to continue my work with those historically underrepresented groups in the future. Just try your best to put a little spin on it, but I’ve always felt that essays like this would be very difficult to write if one didn’t do work with diverse populations or didn’t have much diversity to bring to the university or program. Just try to find what makes you unique and how you will add something special and different to the program.

Okay that's not too bad! Though I assume it'll be longer now cause of the holidays. I am so worried about the decision, UT just seems like it works fit so well with what I want to do

I am just wondering what anyone thinks my chances are for any of these schools? I have tried to look up class statistics and have not found much other than minimum requirements. Also, I submitted all of the applications before their priority deadline, but am worried because SOPHAS does not verify the applications until my letters of recommendation have been sent in (only one of my three recommenders have submitted their letters) and I am afraid that by the time my letters of recommendation are sent and SOPHAS has verified my application, it'll be past the priority deadline for the schools I applied to.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think you have a good range of schools! Tulane should be an acceptance, BU and UPenn will likely be acceptances, and Yale is a little more of a reach school!

LORs: 1 from toxicology/air quality professor, 1 from environmental course professor, 1 from internship supervisor, 1 from collegiate sports coach

Interested in: Epidemiology, specifically cancer

I realize my experience is greatly lacking, however during undergrad I was a member of a Division 1 sports team which left very little time to do anything outside of school. I am hoping it doesn’t hurt me too much during the application process

Has anyone heard back for Johns Hopkins MHA Program? if so how long did it take you?
 
I have seen a lot of people posting to ask how long it took others to hear back from various programs. I just want to give everyone a heads up that you should not be worried if your timeline is differing from that of others! Now that priority deadlines are here, schools have a lot of applications in, meaning that admissions has a lot more to go through and will be getting backed up. Somebody who applied earlier in the process may have heard back in a matter of weeks since schools did not have as many applications to go through at once. Schools now have lots of applications; don't stress over how long it took other applicants to hear back as everything changes throughout the process! These comparisons are unlikely to be meaningful during this busy time in the application process.

I've noticed quite a few of the public schools have double application fees. It might have something to do with the application passing through the graduate school as well?

Between GRE, SOPHAS, and double app fees, this application process is draining my bank account!

Hi all! 15 days ago I received an email from an assistant director of admissions at Emory saying I should have a decision within 2 weeks. Last night, when I hadn't heard anything (nor received anything on OPUS) I reached out. I woke up to an email this morning saying I got in! Back to the waiting game, for now!

Hi everyone! I've been in the process of publishing a review article in my current field (liver cancer) and, after some revisions, it was finally accepted! Yay! Should I email schools about it now to let them know, or should I wait until it is actually published? Thanks. 🙂

Congrats !! I also received an acceptance from BU an hour back but it said nothing about the funding. Did they tell you about the funding in the acceptance email??
Mine said you have been academically accepted and a letter will follow next week with no mention about funding

Congratulations! I received the same email on November 30th from Leah Tompkins saying I would hear back within two weeks (which was yesterday). I still have not heard anything and my OPUS has not been updated either. Is this who you reached out to? Do you think I should give them a few more days, or reach out now, considering the two weeks they originally stated has passed?

Previous years' threads have gotten their scholarship info in their hard-copy acceptance package. It seems consistent year-to-year, and the email seems to imply the same for this year! 🙂

It was Leah Tompkins that I emailed. She said the decision was made last Friday and should have posted and she wasn't sure why it didn't. In light of that, I think it makes sense to reach out.
 
Confirmed with BU they confirmed I am getting a merit award but not the amount so will have to wait for the package for another 2-3 weeks

Congrats to everyone getting in to BU! Anxiously waiting over here - I was wondering if anyone knew how their application review goes? I know the email we received said first round of decisions go out in mid-December - are those of the earliest applications, or top percent of applicants, or if it's by program, or?

I think last year BU released their first round of decisions over the course of a few days. And I think being in that first round (no matter which day) had more to do with when people applied than anything else. Perhaps someone from last year's thread could chime in!

Hopefully you'll be hearing from them soon!

Was just accepted to UCI for the MS in epidemiology. I know it’s not an MPH, but just in case anyone is wondering 🙂

I applied to Michigan MPH in Epi on 11/23, but haven't heard back from them. The status on my Wolverine account turned to "you will be receiving an official e-mail within five business days.", but it was 10 days ago... Is anyone in the same place?

Has anyone done the Wash U Scholarship Interview?
 
I'd applied to Emory for their 3-semester Epi program, and I've received an email from them outlining all the benefits of the 4-semester program over the 3-semester; and that they would like to admit me to the 4-semester program. Provided that I'm interested in their doing so.

Is this the norm? I should also mention that it's been less than a week since I applied to Emory. Seriously perplexed by it.
