yeah 25 here too with 3.6/3.5 and i've been complete since 7/22.... soo frustrating
Don't give up hope! I had a 25 mcat too. I actually talked to admissions about that and they told me that if the rest of your application is good then a 25 is fine. Personally, I don't think MCAT is weighted that heavily, but thats just my opinion. If your EC's and volunteer hours are good, then stay positive!
I second this...I was actually told by two advisors at msucom that they are mostly concerned with the bio section. I really struggled with the PS section on test day and only scored a 7. I was planning on retaking the MCAT to improve that score and wasn't even going to apply last cycle. One of the advisors actually said "Oh I'm not worried about that, we can at least tell you've taken Physical Science classes."
If your BS score is strong, and your application is otherwise solid, then there's reason to stay confident 🙂
my application was released to msu on 10/6, and ive received secondaries from every other school I have applied to other than here and one more
i was wondering if i had a a chance of receiving a secondary from them.. and how long does that usually take? its been 2 weeks since they received my primary
i think i have okay extra curriculars, but im worried about my gpa and mcat score which i think may be preventing me from receiving a secondary application
cumm GPA: 3.6
sGPA: 3.37
MCAT: 26P (7V 10B 9P)
i volunteer at an osteopathic hospital.. and currently im working on my masters and working in a lab. i also have a primary authorship publication that was published in 2010
i would really appreciate any advice from anyone about this.. and also am i late in the application process for msu?

Describe a personal experience or ethical challenge you have faced that has influenced the development of your character. How has this experience helped you to develop specific skills and/or abilities that are essential to practicing osteopathic medicine? (1 pg. essay)Does anyone know what the secondary questions are? I would like to start on them now to submit as soon as i get them. Just wondering as the Allopathic schools have them listed and I could not find them here.
Thanks.
Hi all,
I wrote the MCAT in September and received the score on October 11th.
My app was on hold for awhile waiting for the most recent MCAT score to be sent to MSUCOM, and now that it's released I am anxiously waiting everyday for the secondary! I am seriously going insane, and I know i have to be patient but I am curious how long it would take me to get the secondary, if at all.
My score was not good and it's what worries me too. i got 22N (9P,8B,5V😳..WN), 3.7 cGPA, 3.6sGPA and 600+extra curricular activities.
Do you think I have a chance to get a secondary? I know they set the minimum for all sections- I passed the minimums but knowing that it doesn't guarantee that one will actually receive the secondary so I'd like some kind of feedback from previous acceptance or anyone at all.
Any insights will be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance!!
To those fretting over lower MCAT scores:
I had a meeting with MSUCOM advising this summer before I retook the MCAT. I had a 26. I asked what I can do to strengthen my app, and they told me "nothing, why don't you go do something fun, like travel!"
Accepted this cycle.
FFW six months and I retook the MCAT and found myself in an MS program....
So, don't completely freak over lower MCAT scores. It's definitely still possible to get in.
please pleaseeeee todayyyy MSU!!![]()
hey guys!
is msucom like slow in responding emails nowadays..??
i've sent them two emails, one early last week and then again late last week, but no response :S
anywayz, could someone clarify something:
for the english requirement: would two courses that include extensive essay writing and critical analyses be counted as english, even if they aren't offered by the eng department..?? because i know kcumb accepted my religions course (which had essay exams and assignment) as an english course.. so wondering if it's the same case with msucom?
and another question: how accurate is this MSUCOM prerequisite chart that they send us?? :$ lol, why i ask is because i was thinking of taking a couple of courses which i THOUGHT i needed to take for msu (for example, english), and do need to definitely take for another school..but msu doesn't have them listed as "deficient"... so now i m not sure if i shud just go ahead and take those courses to be on safe side, or not take them...
it's a wierd situation, but has anyone else been in such a scenario??i am going to be contacting the adcom about this anywayz... but thought of asking here as well..
me neither. CanadianNothing here
Adcom isn't who you should be contacting, which is probably why they haven't responded--they're pretty busy this time of year. Email one of the advisors listed on the MSUCOM website. Katie Molina is the best and will get back to you quickly. Lori is great too though.
I didn't personally experience any errors. I hadn't yet taken a genetics class when I applied. After my acceptance, they emailed me saying I needed to take it before matriculation. It was pretty straightforward. Just ask one of the advisors about your situation.
nope. no more wednesdays.
Hopefully that means you've heard from the school of your choice, MSU or otherwise 🙂
So anyone else heard anything
So do they email decisions every Wednesday?
Yep, usually between 11a-2p! There have been a few outliers though.
