another wednesday coming up....

DUN DUN DUN :scared:

I hope to be complete by next Wednesday.. waiting on one more evaluation form. Does this mean I can get a response by 10/3 (next wed) or is that jumping the gun? Do they still use that top 20% or so to review policy?

I think that's what they use the whole cycle. Good luck to you, I don't think that's jumping the gun!

Btw, I just saw that MUSCOM is pass and fail but I know some schools still put your grades down. Does anyone know if on your transcripts at MSUCOM, it simply say F/P for all courses? wouldn't that make it hard to compete with students who didn't go to a P/F schools especially for Canadians wanting to go back to Canada for residency...(I know board scores and LORs are more important but still it would help)

I'm a Canadian applicant and I got in today too! 🙂

It is pass fail but we do have percentiles. Also, if the residency requests your class rank MSUCOM will give it to them. Dr. Falls has stated that he doesn't remember a DO residency ever requesting it but some MDs have.

I'll be there!!! Any suggestions on what to bring? Is it pretty laid back?

Its pretty laid back. Casual dress is fine. I think I wore jeans last year. Probably won't see many first years because we have UNIT 2 exam monday.

Looking forward to meeting everyone 👍

Congrats to everyone accepted so far!!!

Question for anyone who knows: How many "piles" of applications are they working from? I'm not sure if we've been speculating, but it seems that one week it was high GPA's that got in, the other week it seemed to be high MCAT, and another was high EC's. Today seemed to be OOS/Canadian day!
So, my question is: how many piles are there? That has to be it, seemingly--so now do they start back at pile #1?

It really makes no difference....it's just that just my anxious side must know!! :scared:

Wish I knew this answer. When I talked to admissions, I know there is a GPA pile, MCAT pile, letters pile, and volunteer hours pile. Idk if it was a Canadian pile today or if today was just the first day they included Canadians. Again these are just my own thoughts/speculation 🙁

Yea I'm Canadian so I can only apply for MD residencies. So if you do have percentiles, will it show on your transcripts if you request it?

I wonder if there is much hope for the Canadians that did not hear today. The stats of the deserving accepted candidates make me feel doubtful.....Let's see what happens next Wednesday...

does anyone know if after your secondaries are sent in do they base your acceptance solely on the essay and letters provided since they looked at gpa and mcat from the primary app?

E-mails.

I was a little bummed at first (who am I kidding, I nearly pissed my pants with excitement) because I really wanted an "official" acceptance letter on letterhead and everything. However, they ask for your mailing address so they can send you an official acceptance letter.

Can't wait to visit!
I know what you mean now. Just got the email yesterday. Have you received the packet yet? How long did it take? I hope it was much more 'official' than the email 😛 In any case, I'm content.

Any idea when the mandatory deadline is to accept the offer?

Received the packet within 3 days of requesting it.

It takes about 10 minutes to fill out.

Deadline is at the beginning of December (I think 1st or 2nd).

There is an official acceptance letter included in the packet. It's on nice MSUCOM letterhead with an MSUCOM watermark. Very nice.

Congrats and see you in October!

i was very doubtful with my MCAT, but i guess my gpa made up for it and then my research and extracurriculars stood out to them... so keep your fingers crossed, and most of all be persistent, slowly but surely 👍👍

Does anyone know how many months we get off after year 1 since we start so early like in June? and what those dates are (approx) I'm trying to set a wedding date after I'm done first year in 2014...

I'm guessing it's from June to August (back to school in Sept) based on the fee schedule. Maybe current students can confirm and give more details.

I think after first year we get three weeks off in May and three weeks off in August. That's what I'm gathering from my future calender. Hard to tell though since class schedules aren't finalized that far in the future yet.
