Mt. Sinai adcom meetings

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
No, they said they hadn't made a decision about me but I would hear shortly? Anyone else get an acceptance?

*sigh* I guess the next question is: Does Sinai post-interview reject? If so, what percentage? ie. should I be bracing myself when I check my mailbox?

Do you think that's it? Do most acceptances come out in such short a period of time?

I think they said on my interview day that they waitlist most and reject only a small number of people post-interview.

The data on MDApps show this as well.

This thread is a perfect example of why I should not allow myself to frequent SDN, since the next few days will be agony waiting to see if I am snail mailed a waitlist/rejection. Oh well...desire for instant gratification is definitely one of my flaws.

Futurelegend - congratulations!

Interview: 1/23, Acceptance e-mail TODAY 🙂

Do they send all the e-mails in one day? Do they spread them out over a week or something??

<----- interviewed 2/8...waiting for an e-mail 🙁

I received the acceptance email too (I interviewed on 1/18)! It's my first acceptance. Hooray!!!

Thanks. It's making my decision even harder though!

They sent all of their acceptances out yesterday - called to confirm. Sorry, in case anyone else was holding out hope. Hey FutureLegend, stop taking my spots! 😛

Of course then there's the question of whether those of us who interviewed more recently made it to committee.:scared:

anyone know if they are still issuing interviews?

hey,

i dont think they are issuing any more interviews unless ppl currently scheduled cancel...this is what i was told by the interview coordinator - cross ur fingers that ppl cancel!

Which do you want more, NYU or Sinai? I'm bound to give up one of them. You know that you wanted me to have first dibs.

Just for fun, thought I'd pass along what the lady at the office just told me -- they're still issuing invites, but they don't expect to give out any more after Friday. 🙁

What was the name of the young woman in admissions who talked on interview day?

2/12 interview, waitlist letter received today dated 2/27.

Anyone else receive a waitlist letter that interviewed AFTER 02/12?

I interviewed in January and still haven't received anything.

I live in the city and got it Saturday, so I bet a lot more people will get mail today and tomorrow. (Unless I am the only person that didn't get accepted outright 😳 ) :luck:

Got the letter from Sinai, saying I am put on the alternate list and I have to reply with response via mail to say if I want to stay on their alternate list.

Question: Did everyone get a letter saying that you are "highly" regarded applicant and we are placing all "highly" regarded applicants on the alternate list? Just want to see if this is standard waitlist letter, or if there are two different waitlist letters being sent out by Sinai.

Got mine today.

It says my name is on the "Alternate List, consisting of highly qualified applicants who will be considered for admission after May 15th"

Yeah, that's what my letter says. I think it's the form letter for the waitlist. But to be on the waitlist, you have to be a highly regarded applicant. Waitlist means they'd take you if they had the space, but they don't right now. Waitlists are disappointing, but they shouldn't be looked at as a problem on your part, but rather a necessity of the application system that leads to everyone getting a fair shot at a space in a med school. Good luck to you!

If you received a waitlist letter, please post when you interviewed.

Yeah we are all "highly" regarded...I wonder if they would have a two-tiered system where there's a "highly" regarded applicant pool and a "lowly" pool...or just _____ (fill in the blank) pool....

anyone know how many ppl mt.sinai interview?

i interviewed 1.25, still haven't heard anything [but resigned to the ol' waitlist/rejection] 🙁

edit: got the rejection today. WHY, mountsinai?!?!?! *sniffle*

What Scott Barnett (Dean of Admissions) told us on my interview day was that everyone that they invited to interview is something they think is a great candidate and someone that they think would fit well at Sinai. He said that rejections are rarely given and only to people who really mess up their interviews. He said that everyone else that is not accepted after their interview will be waitlisted and that if you want to stay on the waitlist to be reviewed for a spot at the shcool that you should send them letters of update/interest and to let them know what you have done since the interview day and how much you are interested in the school. He said that these letters are really important iin their decision making process for the waitlist, so if you were waitlisted after your interview I would definitely recommend sending one...

Has anyone that interviewed AFTER 02/12 received a waitlist letter?

How do you know that the last adcom meeting is 3/19?
(not trying to be malicious, just would like to know)

So, you still haven't received the official paper version?

Because that's what Dr. Barnett told us. I figure he's a pretty good source.

Today is supposed to be the day. Has anybody heard yet? Good luck to everyone.
