how's the interview's atmosphere? Intense or relaxed? I will be in Glendale next week so can someone share their opinion?

I heard it is relaxed. While they ask general questions because it's a group interview, but I think you still should be prepared. Are you interviewing on the 11th or 12th?

my interview is on 12th.

Hello everyone, i was trying to get some information on tuition for midwestern and i was wondering is tuition for the 3rd year rotations cheaper than the first 2 years of school? Thanks for your time.

I believe tuition actually goes up about 8% every year. Don't quote me on the exact number but tuition will only be increasing. 🙁

I got an interview invite, but the only date that they gave me was in the middle of my finals week. So what choice do I have? If I just don't choose that date, will they give me more dates later? Their instructions are really vague

I would contact the school and ask them what other interview dates. I believe Dec 12th are the last ones. Then January would be the following.

I seeee.. thanks! I got the email about the interview at around 1am friday night/saturday morning, so I can't call them until monday. I thought that timing was strange. But yeah the Dec 12th interview is the day before my most extreme final. and to get into pharmacy school i should probably try to pass all my classes first.

When did you receive supplemental after application is mailed?

If you mean you sent in the application via pharmcas, you have to wait till the process it (it takes 2-4 weeks). Then once they confirm your GPA, they send it to the schools, which after 3 days, the school should have received your application and then they should have sent out the supplemental. That was the case in mine.

Haha, do you go to ASU? Cause I do and the 12th is the reading day, which worked out for me cause I didn't have to miss school 😀

But for you, I would weigh your options. If you think you could get by without having to study for your test the day before, I would sign up for the Dec 12th interview. cause, if there are no more one's in December, and then you would have to wait till January. But definitely call them to ask first if they have any more dates.

I wanted to ask, do alot of pharmacy students choose to live in the dorms for their first year? If so how are the dorms on campus? I looked into in the website but couldn't find much information about the cost or the room styles.

Hi Haro123,

I am not a current student at MWU-Glendale. I was recently accepted for Class of 2016 and planning to attend. I applied for on campus housing a few days ago. I don't have the exact prices but a one person studio with dish washer & washer/dryer was about $715. I believe it is much cheaper if you get the 2 bedroom with a shared bathroom, it comes out to around $300ish. However, I think I'm going to live by myself for the first year and then find roommates the next year. Hope this helps!

Oh I forgot to add...once you are accepted, your portal will have a tab for "Student Services". When you click on "Housing", you will see the available floor plans and their prices. They do not have actual pictures of the apartments and stuff, so make sure you check it out on your interview day 🙂 Good luck!

I would never go to ASU. I go to UofA haha. We already had our reading day and our finals week is this week. I really need to study for my final. I don't mind waiting until January, I'm just unsure when the dates are.

This school is very understanding and will be more than willing to move your date. I postponed mine due to exams as well when I had to interview 😀

Thank you so much for clearing that up! 🙂 I got the invite Friday night so I couldn't call them all weekend..

If I got a one bedroom apartment on campus, would the school let me rent out the living room to another student or is that not allowed? 🙁 I really want a 2 bedroom, but like the website says, space is limited so I just wanted to know my options.

Probably not allowed. But you could email Jose Ponce, the main housing guy.

I was reading a page or so back about how to handle working and studying. It's definitely possible to juggle both. I find that only working on the weekends in the mornings keeps me sane. I know Walgreens will allow weekend shifts since that is how my housemate is managing work and study. I am not so sure about CVS because when I interviewed for the intern position there the intern coordinator made it seem like weekdays were the only option.

My own personal suggestions...Dont live on campus! 😀

You can find much better/cheaper apartments within 2 miles of school (even across the street I think a 2bd/2bth is cheaper than being on campus....plus you wont go crazy being on campus 24/7)....but yeah, pretty sure they do not allow anyone crashing in the living room.

does it mean you're accepted if you have an accepted student checklist but "Your information is currently being processed. Please check back tomorrow." in the Matriculation/Payment tab?

From my own experience, yes. I checked my portal and saw that I had an accepted student checklist. I called the admissions and they confirmed that I was accepted. When I tried clicking the Matriculation/Payment tab, I had the same message. It wasn't until the next few days did I see the Matriculation statement. You can always call the admissions to confirm, they are very friendly and understanding 🙂

They said decisions will be out NEXT friday when the admissions committee meets. I'm doubting the acceptance since I totally messed up on one of the interview questions. haha. I guess I'll just wait.

Hrmm, I don't understand then. But anywhooos, I hope it will be good news for you. Don't forget to update us 🙂 Good luck!

hey thanks a lot. I just called them and I'm ACCEPTED! So i guess you can get accepted even if you go off topic during the interview! 😀

I interviewed on Tuesday, Dec 11 and got a call yesterday congratulating me. Yay, class of 2016! Good luck to everyone!

FWIW, most schools are this way. Would you rather they front-load the "expensive" part of the education (the first 2 years you're actually in a classroom)? In that case, you'd be paying more interest on the extra expense in the first two years for an entire extra year before you get to payin' with a job. I'd rather them evenly spread it out.

Can't say I told you so Ms. Szeto 😉

Congrats to everyone on their acceptance!
😀

Hi, do you know if the interview is closed or open file? Thank you in advance for your help!

I've been looking for this thread. I have an interview at MWU on 9/28 as well. Also from California. There's going to be a lot of Californians probably.

I'm not ready for the interview though..

This thread is hard to find because of the title. There's no midwestern in it.=/

Can someone change it?

Does everyone get interviews here or something? I just received an interview like two days after turning in my supplemental. My overall is only a 2.7 and science 2.5... :| Multiple dates to choose in january

if you don't mind I'm asking, when was your interview? Mine was 12/12 and I felt I didn't do well 🙁

I'm from Southern Cali.. I'm thinking of driving to the interview.. I dunno if it's a good idea. It's about a 5 and half hour drive. my car gets like 34 mpg highway gas is relatively cheap right now. Plane tickets are around 180 or so... Hmmmm... Anyone up for road trip to January interview?

Some of you guys are in the wrong forum. You want to be in the class of 2017

Is mwu cpg a good 3 year program? Compared to like uop or mcphs, lecom etc

I don't know how it compares to other schools, but it is a good school as it has been accredited since 1996, I believe. It has done well to maintain its accreditation and its a competitive program because you're able to get your PharmD in 3 years.

Hi, i understand your a second year student at the pharmacy college. I was just curious, what book did you use for the class "Pcol 835A - Immunology and Hematology?"

I was accepted to the college of pharmacy and was interested in the subject/getting a hard start. I was hoping you direct me towards the book you used so that I could be studying the right material 🙂

Thank you!

You can also get a Master's in Public Health at the same time. So in a matter of three years you get two degrees (and your undergrade if you didn't come into it with that completed).

Placed on alternate list 🙁

Keep your chin up! Midwestern's Dean of Pharmacy said in a pre-pharmacy meeting at a local community college that 2/3 of the alternative list gets accepted because of the way things work out. Many students put down multiple down payments and then go somewhere else and they call the next person on the list. Last year I was on the alternative list, and lost all hope. They called me April 20th and told me I was accepted. Unfortunately I had to decline due to medical problems, but even then they were amazing. I was granted a deferment and I start this June 2013, so I will be there with all of you that are accepted (and I didn't have to reapply). 🙂

That is really cool and understanding of them.

I was just wondering how the weather is like there in Glendale during the winter around this time? I know it gets pretty hot for the summer.

Haha, lol i love how everyone thinks arizona is the hottest place on earth 😀

Actually, arizona is kind of cold in the winter. High is like 61-66F, and lows are 40F. If you have a interview scheduled in the morning at 7:30am, it is FREEZING, so i recommend some warm clothes, but towards the afternoon, your jacket should be just fine.
