NC State University c/o 2030 Applicants

Good Afternoon! I have two questions
1. We received an email earlier in July stating if we are a NC resident, we have the opportunity to apply with less than a 3.0 GPA in one category (in my case, it would be last 45 hours). However, I do not see an area on VMCAS or the supplemental application built into VMCAS where I can find the alternate GPA section. Is there another place I can find this? I addressed this in the 'Other Information' tab, but I would like to know if there is someplace else I need to look as I do not want my application thrown out because of this.
2. The physics requirement only needs 4 hours now as opposed to 8 hours. Can I put my grade for Physics II as it is better than my grade for Physics I, or does it have to be recorded as the first class in a series?
Thank you!

In response to your questions,

1. there is no alternate GPA section in the application. We will consider all North Carolina resident applicants who meet or exceed the 3.0 minimum OR have less than a 3.0 GPA in one of the categories (Cumulative, Required Course, Last 45 Hour).

2. applicants may designate either Physics I or Physics II. We recommend selecting the course with the better grade.

DEADLINE REMINDER - 2 WEEKS AWAY
The final VMCAS application deadline for the 2025-2026 application cycle is September 15, 2025, by 11:59 PM Eastern Time. You should submit your application and ensure all supporting materials, such as transcripts and letters of recommendation, are received by their respective deadlines to avoid processing delays.

For one of my recommendation letters, I put the title as owner of the vet hospital we work at, is that okay or should I have put DVM?

I took an accelerated general chemistry course that is the equivalent of two gen chem courses at my university. When designating prerequisite course on the VMCAs, should I mark that course twice?

Quick question, my undergrad university offered only 1 type of orgo lab but it encompasses topics covered in both orgo 1 and 2. Is it alright to just put the same orgo lab under both pre-reqs since I only have the 1 lab taken? I have all the other pre-reqs but I would like some clarification on this.
if anyone knows the answer please let me know!! Thanks and best of luck to all this cycle! 🙂

The NC State DVM Program requires eight (8) credits of general chemistry and eight (8) credits of organic chemistry. You will need to submit a letter from the Registrar's Office or College Dean explaining how the course meets the content of two separate courses for the subject matter. We will take this into consideration when evaluating the application.

When organic chemistry follows a 3-3-2 course sequence, we ask that the applicant only list the lab ONCE, under Organic Chemistry 2. If an applicant lists the lab twice, we have to delete the second entry in order to calculate the proper number of credits and quality points.

This takes additional time and slows the process for application preparation for the committee.

The individual writing the letter typically includes their title and academic credentials so we will likely see the DVM on the letter.

When should I expect an email to pay the supplemental application fee once I have submitted my VMCAS?
Upon submission of the VMCAS/supplemental application and its download into the NC State admissions software, applicants will receive information on completing payment for the required supplemental application fee.

This process usually takes 48-72 hours after VMCAS verification and is emailed around 2pmET.

I submitted VMCAS mid-August and haven't received anything from NCSU. Is there someone at NCSU I should contact? Please advise. Thanks.

Thank you. I just did that. I hadn't wanted to email because I'm sure y'all are getting inundated with applications and emails, but I also don't want mine to get thrown out for an avoidable reason. Thanks again!
We appreciate your consideration. Hope it is resolved now.

Have any applicants received any update or general response emails since submission? I haven't been able to locate much on NCSU's typical timeline or communication style.

Their timeline is on the website- out of state is usually December and in state is end of January 😭

I haven’t heard anything tho!
I am curious to see if it’s earlier for in state people because they’re not doing interviews but who knows!!

The timeline will remain the same.

VMCAS gives itself until mid-October to verify all applications. As a point of reference, roughly 70% of applicants wait until the three days preceding and including the deadline to submit the application. It takes some time to work through this amount of data.

We will communicate with applicants as needed before "pool wide" communication begins later in the cycle.

If you have received the email concerning the NC State supplemental application fee, NC State has received your application from VMCAS.

We appreciate your patience with this process.
