NC State University c/o 2030 Applicants

Good Afternoon! I have two questions
1. We received an email earlier in July stating if we are a NC resident, we have the opportunity to apply with less than a 3.0 GPA in one category (in my case, it would be last 45 hours). However, I do not see an area on VMCAS or the supplemental application built into VMCAS where I can find the alternate GPA section. Is there another place I can find this? I addressed this in the 'Other Information' tab, but I would like to know if there is someplace else I need to look as I do not want my application thrown out because of this.
2. The physics requirement only needs 4 hours now as opposed to 8 hours. Can I put my grade for Physics II as it is better than my grade for Physics I, or does it have to be recorded as the first class in a series?
Thank you!

In response to your questions,

1. there is no alternate GPA section in the application. We will consider all North Carolina resident applicants who meet or exceed the 3.0 minimum OR have less than a 3.0 GPA in one of the categories (Cumulative, Required Course, Last 45 Hour).

2. applicants may designate either Physics I or Physics II. We recommend selecting the course with the better grade.

DEADLINE REMINDER - 2 WEEKS AWAY
The final VMCAS application deadline for the 2025-2026 application cycle is September 15, 2025, by 11:59 PM Eastern Time. You should submit your application and ensure all supporting materials, such as transcripts and letters of recommendation, are received by their respective deadlines to avoid processing delays.

For one of my recommendation letters, I put the title as owner of the vet hospital we work at, is that okay or should I have put DVM?

I took an accelerated general chemistry course that is the equivalent of two gen chem courses at my university. When designating prerequisite course on the VMCAs, should I mark that course twice?

Quick question, my undergrad university offered only 1 type of orgo lab but it encompasses topics covered in both orgo 1 and 2. Is it alright to just put the same orgo lab under both pre-reqs since I only have the 1 lab taken? I have all the other pre-reqs but I would like some clarification on this.
if anyone knows the answer please let me know!! Thanks and best of luck to all this cycle! 🙂

The NC State DVM Program requires eight (8) credits of general chemistry and eight (8) credits of organic chemistry. You will need to submit a letter from the Registrar's Office or College Dean explaining how the course meets the content of two separate courses for the subject matter. We will take this into consideration when evaluating the application.

When organic chemistry follows a 3-3-2 course sequence, we ask that the applicant only list the lab ONCE, under Organic Chemistry 2. If an applicant lists the lab twice, we have to delete the second entry in order to calculate the proper number of credits and quality points.

This takes additional time and slows the process for application preparation for the committee.

The individual writing the letter typically includes their title and academic credentials so we will likely see the DVM on the letter.
