no idea...im wondering the same thing you are.

I have the email address from the students who gave the tour as well as my student interviewer...i was wondering if i should email them and ask but maybe id be better off just sitting tight and waiting.

*sigh* that included me. i got cut w/o an interview...
haven't gotten an interview from umdnj either. i wanted to call them but i think they're having a snow day T__T

Has anyone from the very competitive category heard anything yet?

It doesn't seem like anyone is receiving any phone calls from Dr. H lately, does that mean they are no longer accepting students who interviewed?

From what I know, they are still accepting.. but they are way behind. If you don't hear in the 4-6 week period... don't be alarmed!!!! That doesn't imply rejection...

I have been waiting 12 weeks... and still nothing. I called today.. and I was told to wait 2 more weeks.... hahaha!

just got the rejection email/letter from RWJ today...bummer. 🙁

i'm sorry about the rejection. Were you waiting to hear from an interview in dec/jan or were either of you in that hold or competitive category that had to wait to hear until feb?

Ok thanks. The waiting is driving me crazy, I interviewed in early October!

Hey guys!

I was wondering if there are any fellow New Jerseyans out there who have interviewed at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and how long they waited for the school's decision letter. I have been waiting for 7 weeks already. They said 4-6 weeks a letter should be arriving. Should I wait another few days or give the school a call sooner rather than later? I really am not stressing over it, but I do find it odd it is taking this long.

Thanks a bunch for all the input you all have been giving me.

I interviewed at NJMS 10 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything. I emailed them last week to find out when to expect a decision, but I haven't received a response. Guess I'll just keep waiting- I'm getting pretty good at it!

hey, Im in that category too..i emailed rwj, and they haven't set a meeting for the people in this category yet, and she said they might in early march

Hey guys, I hear that there is a category such as a hold or competitive category? Does that apply to applicants to UMDNJ Schools such as NJMS and RWJMS and if so, how?

Should I be concerned that I have not received a letter since it has been 7 weeks since I interviewed in January 2008 at NJMS? How long does it take for RWJMS letters to be mailed after an interview, which I had last Thursday?

when did you interview? did your letter say you would hear back in feb?

i really do not want to wait another month. 🙁

So does anyone know what kind of turnaround RWJ has after the interview? They said about a month, but just wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience.
Hi, well I had an interview January 25 and got a letter 23dr saying a was put on a waiting list until June or so, they area very accurate about their dates. My friend got a letter exactly a month a half after. Just like they say.
Do you know what are the chances of getting into med UMDNJ after being put on alternate list. I AM SUFFERING SO MUCH IS CRAZY. I want to take the MCAT again !!!

Hey join the club. If you search NJMS waitlist youll get a few threads on the topic that date back to like 2005-2006. From what I gather there isnt much waitlist movement. Like 2-4 people...but its said to vary from year to year. I know my friend who was accepted to NJMS definitely isnt going so thats hopefully 1 waitlispot opened...maybe. 😕

Hello to all. I am got an interview in NEWARK UMDNJ and then 3 days ago a letter for waiting list. Does anyone know how they list work? what are my chances? I am even thinking of taking the MCAT again before June to send them a new score. I got a 26 first time V11 P7 B8 not that good but I still got an interview so now I do not know what to think in this waiting list thing. SOEM COMMENTS PLEASE 🙂

Hey, pitu. I do not know if you saw my post above but I had my NJMS interview on January 7 and still not have heard from them. How long did it take for you to get a letter? Should I be concerned?

I interviewed in November and yeah the letter said I would hear in early Feb. I emailed them once and they said mid to late feb, and then emailed them again recently and they said most likely early march =/

HEY Pride. I was interviewed Jan 25 and got my letter exactly 23 days after. After my interview I asked them how long will it be the wait they told a month and a half so I think you should be getting one pretty soon. Wait alittel bit more maybe a week and then call if nothing happens.

Pitu, thanks for getting back to me. I was wondering why it is taking so long for NJMS to make a decision on me. Is there a writing on the wall here that I should see? I know a bunch of fellow Jerseyans who handed in their secondaries to either NJMS or RWJMS and about two-three weeks later they got emails that said they were rejected. Does it mean that a longer wait time leads to an acceptance or an alternate list? I would like to get your thoughts on that.

Hey pride, I am really not sure but as I said before my friends who got accepted waitd like a month a half so maybe you still can make. I have looked for others tread for the topic, only found about waiting list and unfortuna. is not that good for me. Give them a call or ask your interviewer maybe next week. Questions are all the people here from New Jersey? B/C I am from Florida!!

GOOD LUCK

Pride, I'm in the same boat with you. I've seen on this thread that others received their NJMS decisions within the anticipated time (4-6 weeks), but it has now been nearly 11 weeks since my interview. I emailed them to ask what was going on, and they finally replied saying that the adcom is "a little behind schedule" (hah!) and I should hear within the next few weeks. So there's still hope for us!

Dancer125, it is great that you can empathize me with me, yayy!! 🙂
But yes, please be sure to let me know when and how the decision turned out. I assume that you are into dancing. Do you have any experience with ballroom dancing? I had friends who have been urging me to try it out. Anyways, did you also consider RWJMS? I just had my interview a week ago and they were also in the midst of a backlog. Hopefully, education is not like that, but what I have seen so far NJMS and RWJMS are great schools? Do you have a preference if you did apply to both schools? Sorry I am asking so many questions but I feel this is the right time and place to do it.😉

Is NJMS still interviewing - anyone know anything about how many spots might be left?

The dance training I have is mostly all ballet, with some modern. I haven't taken ballroom dancing lessons, though I've always wanted to learn!

I haven't had my interview at RWJ yet...they emailed me a few weeks ago with an invite, but they said since they're behind on scheduling, there aren't any available interview dates at this time.😕 I would prefer RWJ over NJMS based on location alone, but I haven't had a RWJ tour so I don't have any other basis for comparing them. Which did you like better?

I was able to find post dating back to 2004 and 2005 that said the waitlist didnt move much. Does anyone know how much the waitlist moved last application cycle?

Also, is a waitlist from NJMS more like "if we had the room we'd take you" or is it more like "try again later (like a magic 8 ball)"?

Speaking from waitlist experience from last years cycle: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

You can set up a meeting to talk with Dr H about your application and how realistic getting accepted from the waitlist is.

I would've truly considered the NJ Schools before but the disorganization in the admissions process is a HUGE turn-off. If this is indicative of the school as a whole, I'll pass...

Are you in state or out of state?

I'm in-state and I've gotten more love from the SUNY schools that the NJ schools... Don't really know what is up with them but it's not a good way of keeping likely matriculants insterested. Luckily, I'm in a position where I could blow them off but it would really be cruel if I was solely banking on them.

I actually had the opposite experience of MDHowie. I interviewed at 3 of the 4 SUNY schools, and found NJMS and RWJ's admissions process to be faster and easier to follow than any of the SUNYs. The admissions staff (especially the Deans) were exceptionally friendly and available at the UMDNJ schools, whereas the SUNY admissions offices were standoffish except for Downstate.

I only have good things to say about the administration at both schools. They respond to emails quickly and always return phone calls. 👍

Do any of you guys know whether NJMS or RWJ are still accepting? Are they just interviewing for waitlists now; or, what's the story on that?

According to your signature, why do you care?

how bout this crazy NHL playoff race huh? it must be nice to be at NJMS and so close to the prudential center.

This may be the only reason why I'd give NJMS a shot.

I have already been waiting 10 weeks to hear back from them and still nothing! I should be highly competitive for NJMS, my state school, but they do things a bit weird over in Newark.

Really, really irked...

Hey dancer125,

Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you sooner. Anyways, thanks for the info on your dancing expertise. I guess I would call myself a freestyle dancer, lol. But getting back to the subject, I had my interview at RWJ on a Thursday so I didn't get a formal tour or orientation that they have on Mondays and Fridays. However, after my interview in NB, I went to Piscataway and asked several questions to Ms. Porter in admissions. From what I saw, I have to agree that I loved the location of RWJ in a suburban setting. Another thing that I like of RWJ over NJMS is that I have already met with Dr. T in two other occasions. We have this thing up near my school called the New England Health Career Fair at Yale. So in my junior and senior years, I went and I talked to Dr. T at the UMDNJ-RWJMS table. From my conversations with her, she was very helpful and I think she did a good job of telling my chances that I applied. So, in those two respects, I like RWJ.

Hi all,

I got a call from Dean Heinrich today...unfortunately, I didn't check my messages until just now. They're closed! My heart is racing...I So hope I got in! Did everyone who got accepted get a call from him? Did anyone get called today? pm me if you can.

-bella

speaking from experience as a njms waitlister from last year, the list did not move or barely moved at all. I got my final rejection a week before i started at umdnj-som last july.

make that two spots 👍

i know one of my friends who got accepted is withdrawing also.

I recently got a waitlist at NJMS, called to find out what third I am on and the lady said that they don't rank them yet, they are all just in a pile. That first week of June is when they establish the rankings, thought that might help some of you who are wondering about that.

You guys..

I got in yesterday! I am so happy! Dean H is ridiculously nice, we were playing phone tag for a couple of days when he finally called me from his cell. Good luck to everyone. I am almost certain that I am going to NJMS.
