Don't worry, you will get the call soon. It seems that they called the people who interviewed till 15th in the first batch. There are only 16 people in the accepted groupme, so about 70-75 more ED acceptance offers will go out in next few weeks...

Wow..so may ED acceptances. When are the RD II sent out

Is there a separate group for Rutgers Newark campus?

Do you know when they stop accepting ED? I feel like the deadline is 8/1 and the idea terrifies me lol

Since EDs are pre-vetted, they know how many applications they are going to get. I guess most of the EDs already have submitted the secondaries and either got the II or will get it very soon. I think all ED decisions should be done by end of August.

I was interviewed before the 15th and still have not heard back. Just wondering if people that got interviewed have gotten deferred yet?

Ok,thats a valuable data point. If there are more people here interviewed before 15th and haven’t heard, they should chime in so we can figure out some statistic. If they plan to reject or defer, they will do it as soon as they can and won’t keep the applicant waiting. So no news is good news, I guess.

I feel like they might be going by Dean’s session groups in each meeting. If so seems like they might get another batch out late this week/early next week since the committee meets on Thursdays.

Just curious, what makes you say they’ll take 70-75 people from ED this year? Last year’s class was only 50-60 people from ED, I believe

That’s interesting, msar says 75 matriculated through early decision but it’s based on 2024 data it seems

I think that figure I got from past years SDN forums.

I know the dean of admissions mentioned an exact number of 69 ppl last cycle. So honestly it can be a range of that number, you never know.

they said that theres no upper limit on how many ppl they plan to take as ED candidates, so if they think you are a good fit, then they will take you

Does anyone know how to answer the question if I don't have any connections to NJ or NJMS? Should I just answer this as a why school question and focus on other aspects of the school like curriculum or research?

Residency Insight:

All applicants receive equal consideration, regardless of state of residency, provided they can offer thoughtful insights into their choice of location. If you are not a NJ resident (determined by your selected “state of legal residence” on the AMCAS application), please briefly describe your interest in NJMS and connections you may have in the area, if any:

Congrats to everyone who has gotten accepted already, what a relief!
Does anyone know if we need to respond to "Reapplicant Reflection: If you are reapplying to medical school, describe the steps you have taken to strengthen your candidacy and reflect on what this process has taught you about your motivation and preparedness for a career in medicine." if we did not previously apply to NJMS but applied elsewhere?

I would think so cause the prompt didn't specify reapplying to Rutgers.

do you guys think it would be ok for me to add this school at this point? I'm not a resident of NJ but I used to live there if that counts for anything (lmk please). Not too sure on if they have bad in state bias.

Describe a significant challenge or failure you have faced. What did you learn about yourself, and how has it shaped your approach to working with others and handling responsibility?

For this question, is it okay to discuss an ethical challenge? I'm not sure if they're looking for something more concrete. I was thinking of writing of an ethical challenge I faced, but it doesn't directly relate to "working" with others and I don't know if that is okay

there’s a fairly strong in-state bias, but as long as you can articulate your connection to the state or the university I think it helps your case.

ethical challenge is probably okay as long as it doesn’t call into question your ability to practice medicine. You 100% have to answer all parts of the question though, so see if you can spin an angle of your response to include working with others or responsibility or
something. And if you make a mistake, show what you learned from it!

thank you so much! would you say the same for Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson, or is their IS bias even higher?

People who had second interviews- was it with a medical student???

Does anyone have any insight on how long the "describe your interest in NJMS" part should be? I know they said brief, and I'm wondering if a couple paragraphs is too much/if we should just list off specific things we are interested in. I'm just trying to figure out the approximate ideal length for this response.
