Noobs...in SPAAAAACE - 5th Annual Noob WW Game

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Grebes is very defensive and trying extremely hard to prove she is innocent.

I dunno, I'm inclined to disagree here because when I was a new player I also got very defensive. BUT I also played the noob card pretty hard, not that she is really doing that, but she did make mention of how she didn't realize she was fishing until it was pointed out to her, which is a noob card thing to do, IMO.

It's d1, we might screw up, it happens more often than not. Am I 100% confident that grebes is a wolf? No. But I am most confident in her than I am about anyone else at this point. If she flips village, we will obviously have to take a harder look at others and try to hear from some of the more quieter players.

As for the grebes vote being a bandwagon, I disagree. There have been points made against her. The other [actual] bandwagons were pretty baseless and happened before any real dialogue really occurred (at least, the killerleaf one did. I'm not even sure when the emlady one happened). It's quite different.

Day 1

200.gif

Our intrepid space explorers found themselves in a sticky situation. You see, they weren't sure whether it made more sense to lynch someone based on their name, their favorite color, or the type of dog they liked. It was hard to draw a definitive line between these very important characteristics and wolf DNA.

A few nooblets took out their telescopes and looked toward the stars, hoping to find the answer out there in the universe. A morose groan drew their attention as they piled their votes on another bandwagon.

"This is the worst day 1 ever," said a melancholy, robotic voice.
"Wait a second. This isn't your first game?"
"Oh you sweet summer children. I've played. I've modded. I've spectated. I thought this would be fun, but truly I am too old for these baseless bandwagons. There is no reason for me to stay."
And with that, Marvin started his own self destruct countdown.

Dead is @SkiOtter, who was Marvin the Paranoid Android, destined to take his own life rather than spend any more time in this cruel, useless world.

It is now Night 1. Night deadline is 7am EST.

It sounds like Ski knew that was coming?

wait why do you think ski knew it was coming? (not asking to press you on it, honestly just curious if i missed something while i thought i was dying)

I used to write for a living, and using "he" when you don't know the gender was still really widespread then, so it's a hard habit to break.
:barf:
Yeah what?? sorry but if ya don't know someone's gender, saying "he" is completely inappropriate. "They" should be used. Even saying she is better.

Also sorry for the slow responses, I am in Mexico and went out to dinner. Is my nickname Soggy now?! So confused.

Yet he continues to use he when he doesn't know anyone's gender 😳

I cannot tell you how many doctors submit reports to us with double spaces after each sentence. Once a habit always a habit.
Oh lord I remember learning that! And I also remember it being difficult to quit also :dead:

Eh. She is no more appropriate. It's still not gender neutral. They has been used as gender neutral for several hundred years, but style guides in the 19th century called it incorrect, and professional publications followed suit. A lot of them still go that way, which is why I got into the habit of using he. I wrote over 200 publications over the course of 2 years, all of which would correct the use of "they" as a singular pronoun.

But yeah, I try to use she specifically in situations where I think some female presence is appropriate (like talking about doctors or lawyers or any STEM field really where the gender is unknown--I have 2 girls and want them to think any career is possible), but sometimes that habit kicks in when I'm typing quickly. Sorry if it offended you.

And yes, su nombre es soggy.

Yeah, it's really annoying. I hate it actually. But most of the time I've been typing on my phone in between chores or grabbing my kids off the toilet or whatever, so I'm kind of going on autopilot. I'm not sexist, I swear!

The whole "one space" "two space" after a period caused me grief in my classes. I grew up with the double space...very very very hard habit to break. and I still do it. as long as it is not something formal.

I wss taught this in grade school, when in doubt use he. We might be aging ourselves M###

Sorry @killerleaf , I thought I saw you confirm he

Yeah I’m an old **** lol. Like no internet when I was in grade school old. No such thing as cell phones old. No one I went to school with had a cell phone until I was out of high school.
