I'm filling out my secondary and was wondering if you used full names of the schools you applied to or just the abbreviations? Thanks!

I used abbreviations for DO schools and left out words like "university" and "college of medicine" for MD ones.

Oh and sorry about editing your post. I changed it back. I'm not used to the new button I have... LOL

I knew I could count on you for a quick reply, thanks so much! Did you find NSU's app format a little odd? I'm not a fan... but then again I'm not really a fan of completing applications in general ha.

Yeah I'm not a fan of most, but theirs especially sucks.

(Grrr! I'm used to the QUOTE button being the most left. I'll get the hang of this...)

Haha, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it quickly. Ok so I'm at the point of choosing my activities now and I cannot seem to click on more than one at a time. Yes, I tried holding down the ctrl key and and clicking on other options. Did you have this issue? Any words of advice?

I'm on Safari on a Mac, and I didn't have an issue with multi clicking. I think another part of the app gave me problems, but it's been months since I filled it out.

Try another browser. Netscape, Firefox, IE. You can also try clicking the top choice, then holding down SHIFT, then selecting the last option. This should highlight all of them. Then try CTRL+click to deselect the ones you don't want.

Hmmm that didn't work either. I'm using a PC and shift is working but not ctrl. I use ctrl often so I'm not sure what the issue is. Do you think it would be ok just to select the first choice and then where it asks to elaborate on each one list each one that I participated in? That's what I've done so far but I can change it if need be.

That sounds like a decent alternative. Do you have access to another computer sometime soon? It might work better.

Maybe someone who's filled it out more recently can lend some advice.

I love the bold print comment haha. Well I decided to submit it how I last explained. The info is all there so I don't feel like it will be an issue. I'll let you know if I get an interview or not! Thanks cbear again for all your help!

Yeah if it's not bolded, others are more likely to ignore it. I felt I had reached a point at which I couldn't help any more.

I'm sure it'll be fine. I hope you hear back from them soon!

ChocolateBear, do you know how long it took for your application to say they received your signature page? It's been over a month and they still haven't changed anything on that window on mine.

How long after you were complete did you guys receive an interview decision?

If anyone has any questions about NSU itself I would be happy to answer, I was both an undergrad and graduate student there and am currently applying to NSUCOM.

I'm starting to think NOVA really doesn't like me lol. I was told I was complete on 8/15/08, and I received an interview last year with lower stats so I was expecting a quicker turnaround than last year for an interview invite. I called just now and they say they never got my Signature page, after I have spoken to a different admissions person twice and that person told me it was there and processed and everything. For some reason everytime I have a problem with nsucom and I talk to two different people I get opposite answers. Hahaha it's kinda funny.

Any one have contact numbers for NSU everytime I call no one ever answers and I would like to know if my file is complete.... I mean hell I never even heard back from them last year at all I mean no acceptance or rejection lletter and my file was complete last year

I tend to call the main number on the website where you get that annoying selection thing. Then press 0 for an operator. Keep hounding them. I find all of this odd, but that is because I sent my stuff in and received an email saying it was received within 3 days of mailing. It took about 5 days to be complete for me.

After being complete, it probably took 2 weeks or so. I applied REALLY early. I was complete in July.

After being transferred about 12 times, I finally spoke to someone in admissions. Not that I got real positive answers but at least they got my signature page. I found it interesting that they told me that without knowing my name.😱 :wow:

I began to understand the frustrations when I was calling to find my decision status. If there is one major complaint I've heard over and over again with Nova, it involves the administrative side of things. Everyone has been more than kind, but their promptness has been less than astounding.

Please describe. 🙂

I've never visited Florida.

I applied to NSU and my #1 criteria is babes. #2 is underpants and #3 is the NSU matchlist.

Hey Everyone, if you were one of the PreMeds that Interviewed on Friday October 3rd, I was one of your M2 tour guides (Erik). Just wanted to let you all know my SDN name in-case you need any more help or have any questions. Feel free to PM me anytime, I will do my best to get back to you ASAP. Good Luck!!!

I used the one posted earlier in this thread; but got transferred about 12 times before i got to talk to the right person. You gave me hope with your MCAT score, since mine is the same and I've heard nothing yet, even with a high gpa. When were you complete? i know I'm late with secondaries due to my MCAT retake. 🙁

anyone hear from NSU this month about an interview / date / time etc. ?

Hey Everyone,

I'm sort of new to message boards so my apologies if replied to this thread wrong.

Anyway, my question is if anyone has heard from Nova that interviewed on or after 9/18. They said on that day that the adm com met in two weeks and I would have a decision shortly after. So I called today and after many attempts finally got though to an admissions counselor who said I would hear back within 2 weeks. This seems kind of strange to me. The only reason I can think of for such a delay is that they didn't have my letters of recommendation when they invited me for an interview but I was pretty sure they made it there by 9/18.

Thanks for the help

Hello to everyone. I am currently a first year student at NSU. I just wanted to encourage everyone to make sure and bug the admin dept about your applications. NSU is a good school with great things going for it, but they seem to have one of the most un-organized opperations in the world when it comes to applications. Just call them up and bug them if you have yet to hear anything. Also, in my experience NSU is bad about lost paperwork and files so be ready to send extra stuff. I had to send in letters of rec twice, and even brought one set with me on interview day just to make sure. I wish you luck with all the mess that is getting into medical school, as it is not fun. If you have any questions about NSU please feel free to ask....

Good luck to everybody 🙂

Well if they claim they got my stuff, should I believe them?😕

They said that they got it; should I think they actually used those few minutes to bring up my file?😕

I've still heard nothing from them despite all my stuff being there in early September.:scared:

Hey has anyone heard anything from Nova about the most recent round of interviews done from 9/25 until now? I called monday and they said they were meeting sometime this week possibly tuesday. Just wondering if anyone else heard anything?

It took me about 3 emails and 3 voicemails to get a hold for my status. I didn't leave a voicemail every time I called either...Its just one of those things.

did you interview after 9/25 mospoh? I just called today and the admissions counselor said they are going to meet on 10/15....2 1/2 weeks after my interview date. If anyone hears different please post. I agree with not leaving voicemails. Its hit or miss...I've been calling for 3 days str8 calling in the early morning to get through using the main line being transferred each time. Good luck to everyone.

Ok so, I have been complete from Nova for at least 2 months. I haven't heard anything. I have tried to call multiple times and every time I either get sent to the wrong place or get someone's voicemail. I don't understand what is going on, are they really unorganized or what? Is there anybody specific that I can call to speak to?

No, I interviewed 9/11. It was a solid two weeks before I knew. They are really hitting their peak with applications and interviews now.

I've been told they are very nice but very disorganized. I've been complete for awhile there too (not as long as you, but still...) and still have heard nothing. :scared:

i was never told i was complete, they never acknowledged the LORs I sent them months ago, but I got an interview invite today, I thought I was getting the cold shoulder from nova, but I there is hope if you have patience!

Thanks to you both.

redrumi - how long were you complete before you got an interview invite?

I finally got through to someone in the admissions office and they checked, they do have everything, but she couldn't tell me how long it would be before I would hear anything.

Congrats! Can you tell me your stats? I was only told I was complete and they received my signature page after i called. My on-line status still does not show they received my signature page.

i wouldn't count on finding out anything through webstar...they don't seem to update it like they say they do.

I just got an email inviting me for an interview today. I only got the answering machine when I called! Does anyone know what the dates are for the interviews this month? I live in Maryland so I have to plan this trip in advance. Thank you.

So, is NSU official now?

I am thinking I'll end up there if FSU falls through.

What would be the least hectictravel wise? Tues, Thurs, or Friday? I haven't really traveled much in my life... never been on a plane...

This school has the worst communication in the history of admission communication. I am talking bout no replys on emails, phone messages etc. They just dont reply back. This says a lot about the school.

And I am damn good applicant too.

Whatever I dont care, I have other interviews and acceptances.

I just had to let it out.

Time is more critical. If you can catch a redeye then you'll save time. Honestly, hectic isn't much of an issue as long as you can read signs and you get there early to get through security.

I am convinced that the problem NSU has with its admission dept’ is that we have too many graduated degrees interviewing at the same time. Seriously, it seems like we offer a million degrees. I know that currently medical students and dental students are interviewing, and I imagine that optometry is gearing up for it if they have not also started. Just those three programs will get more than five thousand applicants and give out more than an thousand interviews. Again, the best advice I can give people is to keep calling and emailing. Ironically, my experience has been that once they actually pen you in for an interview, they are much better about keeping track of you. Also they are pretty good about being flexible for interview dates. I know that is little help for those who have not heard anything, but keep on buggen em’. Good luck to all..

Unless you are used to getting no sleep why would someone want to go for an all day interview program on no sleep?😴 And if I read it correctly he lives in Baltimore. Baltimore to Florida does not require a red eye, nor would they even have one. If you don't want hectic ge tin plenty early the day before; have some leisurely time to check out how to get there and get a good night's sleep. If I had a choice (why don't I have any options? :scared:) I'd pick whatever worked out that I missed the least time from my job.
