I have letters through interfolio and not the letters that NSU provides through the secondary, do i need to get my evaluators to do the letters provided through the secondary or will my letters through interfolio work???????

Ive tried calling the office and emails but no responses...

Hey guys, I was just wondering what the interview:acceptance ratio is like. I read somewhere earlier in the thread that it was like 70%. The reason I was asking is because I was interviewed very early in the interview process for an MD school and then was put at the bottom of the waitlist (My undergrad science is really low). It was as if it was a mistake that I was even interviewed because when I called they said my interview went really well but my grades were too low. I'd hate to go through all that again and even though NSU is definitely my top choice, I don't want to get my hopes up. I've heard people say that if they asked you for an interview then they've already gotten passed your numbers, is there any validity to this? Is a post-interview waitlist/hold common?

I don't know that anybody will be able to answer this question with absolute validity as we're all in the same boat as you ; know that the interview is open file, so they will call you out on any low points of your profile. If you make the best of them, so will they (at least this worked for me). Maybe I'm just too hopeful, but I give myself the benefit of the doubt at any school where I'm interviewed; they already know your numbers and have read what you can write about yourself. Now they just want to get to know you.

I didn't use their letters just had letters sent through interfolio and I was accepted. Just use interfolio its fine.

Correct... I mailed the letters on professional letter head via Interfolio (3 day) after calling to see if it would be alright.

The only way these forms make any sense is if you only apply to one school. Which nobody does. Ridiculous forms. I got in without them; furthermore I had no problems with other DO schools that used similar ridiculous forms (that I ignored).

Interfolio works fine for letters.


Also, I forget what book I got these stats from, but I'm pretty sure they were about the 2008 class:

~1,650 applicants
~17% of applicants interviewed
~14% of applicants matriculated (class size=230)

So keep in mind that the 14% is talking about the people who ended up going there, not all of the people they gave acceptances to. That means that if you have an interview with Nova, your chances are pretty good for getting accepted.

In general, if you have been offered an interview by a school, it means that you already meet their criteria for acceptance on paper. As a general interview tip- you should always know the weaker areas of your application and be ready to explain them if they call you out on it. This doesn't mean you have to make up an excuse, but maybe talk about what you learned from the experience, and how it helped you to improve or change your study habits to become successful in other classes. I cannot WAIT to start school. I'm getting married in May, moving to Davie in June or July and then starting NSU in August!!! I feel like the next six months are going to be painfully slow!! I think I saw on here a post about people moving down a month or so before school starts.. it would be really fun to have people meet up even before orientation.. i'm just rambling..

Also try email, I've only had to contact them to schedule my interview, did it through email and had it all finalized and confirmed within 30 minutes of sending my initial email. I guess I got lucky, everyone seems to have such problems getting in touch with the admissions office.

It depends on the day and the person for me. I sent emails to the recommended addressed for questions about some of the other degree programs and the DO/DMD thing and got crickets. I then emailed Dr. Whitehead back after his season's greetings thing and got an email with all the information within 15 minutes.

Both above comments were helpful, as I have yet to receive a chirp since my status was updated two weeks ago. I sent Ellen an email, but we'll see how that goes.

I remember the guy you are talking about. But I also met a girl from MI. I asked her why she was not going to MSU or some thing to that effect.

Is there any one who interviewed on the 25th and still have not received the packet? I think I will put down the deposit anyways. What does the packet have in it?

It's on the page where you submit your secondary application.... you scroll down and go to processed applications, then select the one with your secondary. On the next page you'll get your secondary application, and in the grid there should be a spot that has the status of your application. PM if you have any more problems 🙂

I still have not received the acceptance packet yet. I call and the admissions dept is of no use, either they pick up quickly redirect me to voice mail or it just rings endlessly. What other options do I have? I am at a loss, not sure what to do. I have an acceptance deadline on 12/14 with LECOM-B.

You will get it. Is your status changed to "provisionally accepted"? I am sure it is just a matter of time now. Don't stress too much, they are not going to lose you after all that effort.

Yes. "Provisionally accepted" since 11/24.

I read somewhere in this thread that most people's status changed the Monday or Tuesday after their interview... which proved correct for me. Hang in there🙂

Thanks so much for the response. I'm also a little concerned because she said she was emailing people right away who were accepted, but wouldn't email those who were waitlisted/rejected... so now I'm wondering if that was my fate... 😕 Ahhhh if only I were a more laid back person lol.

She said the same thing to our interview group. I never received an E-mail. But my status changed the Tuesday after the committee met. I believe that once a decision is made it has to be singed off the the dean.
