Hey guys, I have been complete at Nova since the middle of August. I was curious, I read somewhere earlier that they are not interviewing people with an MCAT lower than 27 right now. Has anyone on here interviewed with less than that?

I've heard great things about NOVA, and would really, really love an interview. Thanks a lot!

We are both not getting any love from Nova!! Ugggh :scared:. I have been complete since the beginning of september. I have called a few times to check the status, nothing new they never really know much when you call. Still praying for us to get those interviews! 😎

I know what ya mean. I'm thinking about sending them some kind of letter of interest. I have five interviews and one acceptance (which is requiring a deposit soon). Is it okay to send them something saying "I need to make a decision at this school regarding a deposit, but would really like to consider NOVA, is there a possibility of letting me know about an interview soon?" I dunno, something along those lines.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

What address did you guys send your DO letter to? They seem like they have quite a few addresses and a PO box too... confusion!

If you use interfolio the school is part of the delivery service so you do not need the mailing address.

I don't. I need a mailing address so the doctor can send it directly. I'm not that slow 😉

This should have been in one of the emails they send you (how to check your status)

"Please be advised that all admission requirements need to be met prior to the interview process. Please send all documents and letters of reference to the address listed below:

Nova Southeastern University
Enrollment Processing Services (EPS)
3301 College Avenue
P.O. Box 299000
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33329-9905 "

Congrats on the acceptance!! 😀 My first interview is in 2 weeks, hoping to get an acceptance from them more than I can even describe!

I wouldn't word the letter that way- it seems as if you are pressuring them. I'd leave out the deposit information completely. I would say something along the lines of "while I am extremely honored to have gotten an acceptance into medical school, I feel like I am still trying to find the best fit for me. For this very reason I am extremely interested in seeing what Nova has to offer...after eagerly waiting to have the chance to do so."

Something along those lines? 🙄 I love to write and have a lot of experience reviewing and editing for others. Hope it helps somewhat!

Does anyone know what the "Application Preference" on the "Application Data" page means? Mine says "not entered." Thanks!

My interviewer started texting on his phone while I was talking to him. I was like...really man?! Very rude.

Interviewed Sept 10th got accepted Oct 5th!
3.05 sci
27O MCAT
lots of extra-curricular and great interview skills?

I don't think it means anything, mine also says that. It's probably just an unused field in their application program or something.

Congrats!! I interviewed on the 24th and am anxiously waiting to hear back, I loved Nova.

I got an interview invite for December 1st!!! Nova looks awesome, I'm very happy about it. 😀

Yeah, I've been complete since the middle of September too and the girl I talked to (I have a 26 MCAT - BAGH!) was like, "Well, the competitive score right now for interview is a 27, so, your file is still under review." Boo! I have a 4.0GPA, give me an interview already!

Sad face. 🙁

Hang in there. Is that a 4.0 from completed bachelor's degree? What's your break-down of the 26?

And you figured this out before you go on the interview?
🙂

I do a lot of research on schools and I have a friend in Fort Lauderdale who has been to the school. My impression, pre-interview, is very good. I only applied to schools that I was enthusiastic about.

Interviewing 10/29! Anyone else going to be there?

Anyone who has interviewed: What were your interviews like?

😀 Glad it helped. My first interview is at LECOM- Bradenton...yay for getting away from the already too cold NY weather for a few days!

26 here too with good gpa's...our time will come eventually!! I have other interviews to keep me busy so I guess I can relax about Nova..for a bit😎 I'm rooting for us haha

Amen to that! I'm from Indiana, and my AZCOM hotel had a pool open year-round. It was beautiful. Keep me posted on how it goes!

Yeah, I'm a senior this year, so I'll be graduating with a Bachelor's from Virginia Tech in the spring.

Here's my raunchy MCAT score:

BS 11 (Woot!)
VR 9 (Not too bad...)
WS N (Seriously? Must have been left over lament from the PS section)
.
.
.
.
PS 6 - Yeah baby! Haha, I didn't finish it! Booo. I got half way through time wise and was on like question 20. Not so good seeing as there were 52 questions...

I just wish I could get an interview soon. I would like to be able to make my own decision about medical schools instead of being forced into making a decision before I've had the chance to see all my options. But I guess we'll see what happens. Only time will tell I suppose.

Sweet! My first interview is at LECOM-B too! When is yours? Mine is October 30th.

Similar breakdown- 11PS, VR6😛, 9BS, WS:T . My LECOM-B interview is October 23rd. I agree with you about wanting to know early enough, I have a house to sell and a fiance who needs to know where and when to transfer (stressfulllll!) 😎 Keep me updated if you hear anything from Nova, hopefully we both will see something besides "decision pending" ASAP!!!

*Drooling* haha just kidding, I go to AZCOM next month so I am looking forward to the heat as well. I will keep the updates coming... let us all know if you hear anything with or without the LOI!🙂

Totally agree on the "making own decision" part.

I suspect it's the 6 in PS. If you could move 2 point from your verbal your chance would be better -my speculation. But anyhow a 4.0 is commendable and I felt Nova does take a holistic approach in their screening. Good luck.

You know the building downtown with "HSBC" sign? A colleague used to joke it's acronym for "Holly **** Buffalo Cold". 😀

I sure do (and I couldn't agree more!!). I go to school a few blocks away...Plus the Sabres play right by it😀 Are you from the area?

Anyone who interviewed on Sept 24 hear back yet? I thought they told us we would know within two weeks, I've been obsessively checking webstar all day today haha.

wow, so i just recieve horrible news today from NSU. apparently, I recieved NO emails that my application was complete, NO emails or mail that I need to call to set up an interview, and now i just go a letter from admissions off saying that since I did not call to schedule an interview, they are officially withdrawing my file. WTF?!?! I dont get this at all, am I missing something here?

sorry to hear that, call the office and explain your situation

hey guys!

i had scored a 24Q (8-8-8) on my most previous MCAT (Sept. 2008), yet still got an interview offer from NOVA about a week ago. So I'm not sure if they're only looking at 27+ MCAT scores at this point. Anyhow, I have a 3.81 cGPA, 3.80 sGPA, and tons of volunteer/work/extracurricular stuff and some research/publication... so maybe that did it? or maybe because I shadowed the president of the OMA (osteopathic medical association) and member of AOA (American Osteopathic Association)....anyways interview is set for Nov. 10th and i'm thrilled to head away from chilly philly and down to FL!

A lot of the people on here have tons of clinical/volunteer/research experiences/ high gpa's- it's only our best guess as to how the select who gets interviews...when, and for what reasons since there seems to be no set criteria/rule. Congrats on the interview, hope it goes well!:luck:

just called the admissions office, seems that the emails never got to me even though they sent them. it was fixed and now i'm interviewing dec 1!

Awesome! I guess I'll be seeing you there. ^.^

I'm a current M2 and more than willing to answer specific questions about Nova 🙂

I'm never on SDN, so PM is the way to go.

fwiw, there is an informal network of folks who will put you up when you come to interview if you'd like to save a few bucks. It's also nice to meet a few current students and get a guided tour. Depending upon timing, it may also save you a few cab rides or a car rental. If you plan to stay in a hotel or live in the area, you can at least get a dinner invitation out of the deal. I did that a couple of times while interviewing and it really gave me a better sense for the schools than you'll get on interview day. That said, schools tell you a lot about themselves by how they deal with you and your application! Can't stress that last part enough.

Good luck to all who are applying, wherever you end up!

anyone else not heard anything from Nova? I've been complete for almost 2 months and have heard nothing...Nova is one of my top choices so its a little frustrating.

I've been complete since the middle of August (I think) and still have not heard. Don't worry!

If one gets accepted to this school in Aug/Sept ... is December 14th the deadline to let them know you are attending and turn in the deposit/paperwork or do you have to inform NOVA that you intend to attend before then and then the deposit is due the 14th of Dec?????

December 14th is the deadline for the first deposit and couple of other required things, which are stated in the acceptance letter. I do not think mine says anything about telling them that I am committing to them

Nova is very generous in this regard. Some stingy schools require $2k despot within 2 weeks of acceptance.

There's an accept/decline form which accompanies the first deposit of $950 by 12/14.

I know it's a little premature, but has anyone been heard anything back yet from the 29th session. If anyone was there that day and is reading this, let me hear how you are doing if you have time. It was so great to meet everyone.

What is everyone doing when they are not obsessing over their decisions? I'd like to know b/c it's a little like Christmas Eve when I was 8 (or substitute something else if you're parents didn't trick you with an imaginary man who likes cookies and milk and makes the same stuff sold at Toys R Us). Totally bouncing off the walls!

there are several posts like this on this forum and no one really has a answer about what stats they are looking for. People keep saying that, you should have 27 to get a interview but someone with a 21 on this forum got a interview. So at this point, I would just say be patient and hope that you get a interview and you rock it. I know one of my friends who got a interview had to pick a date all the way in November and I am pretty sure they fill in many of the seats by December. So, just be patient and hopefully you will get one, good luck.

They told me that the earliest they could possibly give me was December 1st... I wished it could have been sooner, but NSU was a school I couldn't add until later for financial reasons.
