NSU-COM Discussion Thread 2009-2010

What exactly is the Enrollment Processing Service at Nova? Is it some kind of central place that handles processing of all transcripts, LORs, etc for the entire school? I ask this because I noticed the address to send things is not the same address as the Medical School and it is a PO Box.

I know some schools do this and have a central service that scans everything so adcoms can just pull it up and print it out.

Just curious.

Yea it is some sort of centralized service like you hypothesized. Thankfully you don't deal with it anymore once you start. 🙂

First anatomy test tomorrow for us M1's! :scared:

We have a test tommorrow? AHHHH!!

Anyone hate the feet more than me right now??? Ugh so happy to have this test over tomorrow.

I hope you guys rocked the anatomy test. Has anyone from the august interview heard back yet.

And if someone could tell me how long did it take for you to hear back from them after the interview, it has been little bit over 2 weeks so I am just feeling antsy and I would love to find out before I go into my next interview.

I interviewed on Sept 3rd...the admissions office told us 1 month...I was really hoping August would hear back by now...

Browsing through last year's thread it seems no one had to wait as long as a month. It looks like most were 2-2.5 weeks and some heard as soon as 1 week.

Anyone know when the adcom meets?

all of us that interviewed in august were told two weeks, so I was really hoping for something by today... I really don't understand as to why the admissions committee seems to give so many inconsistent answers

When I asked them during my interview, they said every monday

I just shot Ellen an e-mail. I too interviewed in august and I am getting a little antsy. I will let you guys know what she says.

That is just a general email that tells you that you are in the system and you can sign into your webstar to check your status (as you have). Keep an eye on it because if you get an interview it will change to Decision:invited for interview. I wouldnt worry about the timing, we have seen only a couple interview groups walking around.

Best of luck
Damn that anatomy test was hard

back for the attack

Yeah I agree with IamAriDO and you'll get an e-mail inviting you to schedule your interview. I know your antsy because you've been complete for a month, but remember it's still very early in the interview season.

I called in today and asked about the status. The lady who answered the phone looked at my file and told me the admissions people have not left any notes in there.

I was told it could be another two weeks, because our files are still pending. I am not sure if anyone has been accepted yet. They may be waiting for a larger applicant pool to choose from - the admissions comittee may not have met yet.

you would think around 4-5 interview groups, with around 13 people each, would be a large enough pool. Oh well, if I dont hear by middle of next week I have made arrangements to get a partial loan from a family member to put down for LECOM-erie deposit, because I cant afford a full $1500 now but also cant afford to let an acceptance slip because of waiting.

Worked too many years to get to this point.

I talked to the admissions counselor today and she said there are two processes after the interview. My file has gone through one of the processes and is in the process of going through the next. She said it can take anywhere from another week to two weeks and would not give me a exact time line.

I think it goes to the adcom then has to go to the dean for final approval if the adcom recommends acceptance.

I dont see what other "process" an application can go through after all it has already! LOL!!!

yea she said something about that, so i think first is the approval of adcom and second is the final approval of dean. Considering that the dean is never there, this might take some time.

hmm "all admission requirements must be met prior to the interview process"

i wonder if the fact that AACOMAS has taken over 1 month to update my transcripts to schools with my last pre-req is why i havent heard a peep from this school even though ive been complete for over a month.

the aacomas took about a month for my application to be verified and this was back in july

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Since he is like the head of the Florida Medical Association or something. He did mention that to us.

Yep, I would say he is a busy man then!!!

i've been verified since july. nova has had my secondary for over a month. i'm talking about aacomas sending updated transcripts to schools.

anyone receive an interview without nova having proof of you completing all the pre-reqs?

i'll probably just send nova my transcripts directly to speed up the process. i figure even if my updated transcripts have nothing to do with the lack of word from nova, it won't hurt.

eh, well, they interviewed me last year without me having met all the requirements. they accepted me as well, but wouldn't send me my official letter until they had everything (mostly missing LORs).

they might be slow...definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

I received the same exact e-mail under the same exact circumstance. I called a week after I sent my secondary and was told I was complete (~ August 13th ). Strange.....

ha I think we have all received strange things from NOVA, I received financial aid information after I scheduled my interview.

Now THAT is weird!!

Maybe they just want you that bad.....

Heh. I dunno if that's it. Checking my old mail, I just found that same financial aid email that they apparently sent out to me with their secondary.

So...yeah. Technically pre-secondary financial aid info, and I'm definitely no rockstar applicant 🙄

haha I act got that financial aid e-mail too back in August before I had completed my secondary. I remember thinking it was weird at the time. lol

I called them about that. they said so many people had issues with that, that they just decided to overlook it. the lady told me not to worry about it.

My Webstar status says "alternate status." Does anyone know what this means? I am not sure if it is similar to a waitlist or means they haven't decided yet.

they said they dont have a waitlist and that if you go on the alternate list it means that they just don't know whether they want to accept or reject you and they are thinking about it.

Provisionally Accepted!!!

Yeah Baby!!

I am running around the starbucks giving high-fives to random people.

BTW, what do they mean provisionally?

Provisionally means you have to process paperwork and such. They will let you know what you have to complete so just sit back and enjoy. It means you are accepted though so super congrats!!!!

Also provisionally accepted. I could not believe it since I had what I would consider as a disastrous interview. I almost scratched the school from my wishlist completely after the interview. Guess anything could happen in the process.

Congrats!! Why did you think your interview was disastrous, btw? Were you nervous or did the interviewers grill you, etc?

Hi, Gocatgo,

Thank you. It was disastrous because I was extremely nervous, rambling in my answers to quite a few questions during the interview. In all fairness, the questions were fair and not out-of-the-ordinary, but I could have answered them a lot more concisely. I am very surprised that I was accepted but in retrospect, it might be that unless one came off as arrogant or jerky, the chance of admissions after an interview at Nova this early in the game would be pretty high.
