this thread is depressing. I just want to go to Nova, nothing more, nothing less.

interviewed 1/22...went really well, got the (mistaken) feeling that i was gonna hear good results really soon after...its making me nervous that my decision is pending other people's non-acceptance of offers...i should NOT have called rachel, cuz now i'm more nervous than i was before

Just wanted to confirm that when they say ~35 seats, that would probably mean that they would accept some more kids than that to make sure they fill up, right? Anyone have any figures on that, how many people do they accept for each seat to make sure the seat is actually filled in the Fall? The approximate numbers I have is that each year 400 are accepted from a class of 200, so that is 2/seat but I'd guess that this late in the admissions cycle that number might go down?!?!

Also, did the administration give any idea on when interviewing is ending? Anyone know? Some people said it would end earlier (like February) but others said that it would continue into March.
The class is larger than 200, more like 230-240. And yes, they overaccept to fill up the class and modify it as time goes by. Also, they put applicants on the waiting list as early as the Fall, so they those applicants to look over again.

Well, what should you do now that you're in the waiting period? Make sure that you sent your thank you cards, and think about sending them a Letter of Intent. It can only help.

I do not know when interviewing is ending. I'm not scheduled to do anymore tours.

I was asked to give a tour in March, but as it turns out its over spring break and I cannot as I will be out of town, but I assume there are still interviews going on.

Hey, just wanted to check if anyone has any recommendations on the letter of intent. I'd be happy to send one in because NSU IS my top choice. Isn't that usually reserved for places where you are wait-listed though?

No, it's not necessarily for wait-listed applicants.

Make sure you convey that Nova is your top choice.
Highlight the reasons why (personal, the pros of the school, etc)

I was the very first person accepted this year (Rachel told me when she called back in Sept).

But dear god...... reading the comments on this thread...... from those of you waiting for a decision-- hope its an acceptance 🙂... is almost making ME nervous again......

I hope to see you all in August! 😀

so I just got a letter saying I was waitlisted. Anybody else? So disappointed 🙁

waitlisted..sucks...so much for not making anymore decisions until the 15th of march...i dont think Rachel has been straightforward or honest in one thing that she has said in the time that I have been dealing with Nova

Guys... hang in there. from the stats it seems like there is reasonably good movement on the wait-list. When did both of you (MikeMD and Cannes) interview? I haven't heard back yet, I interviewed 1/25.

We both interviewed on 2/1. Good luck.

I wanted to know if you (or someone else) can give me Dr. Silvagni's address or tell me how I should address the envelope for a letter to him. I wanted to make sure that the letter of intent was sent to him and not just thrown into my file to be seen later. at least hopefully he'll get it!

I guess everyone is getting waitlisted. I was interviewed on Feb. 6th and got a letter today saying that I am on the List. THis really does suck. Did anyone on Feb. 6th interview get accepted?

Damn. If everyone from Feb 6th interview is getting waitlisted I guess since I had my interview today I will join that list soon.

anybody that interviewed on 2/4 get in yet?

Feb 6th here as well. I haven't heard anything yet though, but my mail is slow, so I'm sure I'll either be joining you on the "the list" or rejected 🙂scared🙂
by the end of the week.

and a new week of waiting has already started!

Guys hang in there, hopefully things will start changing soon enough. Anyone else hear any news? Does the adcom meet again tomorrow?

i believe they do meet tommorrow, atleast that's what rachel said. She said that they'll be meeting every wednesday.

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I'M IN!!!!

HOLY CRAP!!:hardy:

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

HOLY CRAP!!:hardy:

That's awesome! Congratulations!😀

I wish there was less conflicting information going around, when I last spoke to someone I was told that they were holding all potential acceptances....

this appears not to be the case.

gah.

When did you interview?

Congrats laboratory! Great news.

How are we hearing from Nova? Phone call/snail mail/e-mail?? Honestly, it's a little frustrating that we're supposedly being told no decisions until after the 15th or so. I have a deposit due at another school sitting on my desk at work waiting to be mailed. It's due next week, but I really want to hear from Nova first!! Ugh!!

Anyways, back to good thoughts...CONGRATS AGAIN LAB!

I got a phone call from Rachel today!!! 🙂
She said that I'm in!!

I still can't believe it.
Passing on the good :luck: to all who are waiting. Hang in there!

Congrats Scorching! Seems like admissions might not be waiting until March 15th...Best of luck to everyone who is waiting!

Congrats! 🙂 I know that the both of us (and many others from our interview group) were going crazy waiting! And now you can finally relax!

Congrats Scorching! Now things are getting interesting. My LECOM deposit is due, and I want to hear from Nova before I throw 1500 down the drain. I'm calling today.

Thank you TheLegendofEdel, D-Bone, and olivetofu.
🙂🙂🙂

Congrats Scorching!! I hope I get to join you soon for now I am going crazy waiting.

anyone from the 1/25 group hear anything? i guess they are still accepting a handful of students each week but will probably hold off on most decisions till later.
Congratulations to all those who got in this week!

thanks so much guys...keep the faith...i almost lost mine last week til i got a phonecall yesterday (so much for the registered letter thing)

THE BEST OF LUCK TO ALL!!

...not the news I was looking for. She told me to mail me deposit to other school because no decisions for waitlisters will be made for a few months. Best of luck everyone...I'm going to try to stay off this vice they call SDN!! It's wrecking my head!

Congrats Scorching!! I hope I get to join you soon for now I am going crazy waiting.
Thank you movingfwd867!!
I know how difficult it is to wait, but just hang in there. Looking forward to the day to congratulate you on your acceptance to nova! :luck::luck::luck:

Would they send acceptance/waitlist/rejection notifications via email? I have changed my phone number since submitting my secondary and my mom has a tendency to "misplace" my mail.

From what I know they snail mail all their decisions (incl R and WL), if accepted they also try to call you to let you know. I would definitely update your number with them and maybe call them every week or two weeks to check if there's any change.

All correspondence is done by messenger pigeon. If you happen to own a cat, you might want to keep him locked away for the next few weeks...

They will not email decisions because it is not secure. The snail mail is marked confidential and requires a signature. So, your family should know it's something important and they wont misplace it.

I'm assuming this thread is slowing down because no one is hearing anything. I haven't heard much either. I did, however, mention to a DO I know that graduated from NSU that I hadn't heard anything several weeks post interview. He called on my behalf and was told what everyone else has been told. They are waiting until mid-March to send another "wave" of acceptances. (He was also told my file was on top of the stack to be accepted, which is nice, but I won't totally confident until I have letter in hand.) So for those still waiting, don't be discouraged. Your acceptance is probably in the same stack as mine (hopefully).

Congrats. Now get this guy to call on everyone else's behalf lol

Hahaha. No congrats yet, you might jinx it. But if you know any DOs that went to or have connections at Nova it might not be a bad idea to get them to call. I'm not sure how much political wrangling goes on for the last few seats, but I think it's unlikely a friendly call from one of their own will hurt.

Just wondering... interviews should be ending by the end of this week or next week, right? HOD or anyone else at NSU, did you have any more meetings with the deans... any news on what the situation is like? I called this morning and (as expected) Linda said that my application was with the dean, on hold till after March 14. I asked if there was any chance of hearing back this week or sometime next week and she said not really.

Anyone have any news? Btw Justletme- when did you interview? (sorry, i know that's probably the 20th time you've been asked that)

Good luck to all! 👍👍👍

I interviewed 1/18. They haven't contacted me since, other than replying an e-mail. Pretty frustrating and stressful.

it's unlikely that many, if any, people will get news before March 15th. I talked to both the dean and director of admissions for you guys. (actually for a friend, but let's pretend)

Interviewed 2/25. Mom called and I got letter saying I'm on alternate list. Is that the waitlist or another list altogether? What happened to waiting 3 weeks ?

That's the wait-list, it seems like they are going through each interview group since January just to wait-list people. After that anyone left will be looked at later (in ~2 weeks). Hang in there... things can change in the next few weeks.

Guys... just a thought- is anyone rejected at NSU? I don't get it because it seems like they just wait-list/accept applicants but don't they end up with a large wait-list then? When I was invited for an interview Dev told me that on average they interview about 800 people and accept half of that, so does that really mean that they need the remainder on wait-list to make sure the class is filled?? Just wondering because haven't heard anyone say they were rejected.

Good luck to everyone, the Adcom should be meeting today, hopefully there will be some better news on this thread by the end of the day!

During my interview I thought Rachel said they interview roughly 550 students and accept about 50% of them. Maybe we'll all get lucky and they'll just randomly double their class size and accept the whole waitlist lol.

My guess is those people who are rejected aren't wasting their time logging onto SDN to give us the bad news. I'm currently waitlisted, but if I'm eventually rejected, I'm not sure I'll be logging onto the NSU threads to spread the bad news.

On another note, I'm convinced the waitlist won't move at all until after 3/15. For those who've heard nothing at all post-interview, who knows. Didn't someone get accepted last week? I spoke to Rachel since then and she confirmed that the person most recently accepted was NOT off the waitlist, but a recent interviewee.

So with the lull in activity, I suspect some action post march 15th! That day could not come any sooner!
