I totally agree. There are so much materials that you can go into great depth. I have to stop digging at some point. Still, I am feeling very unprepared. Let's see how it goes tomorrow.

Good Luck, everyone!!!

You can't study and know everything, that's just the way it is.

How do you think you did? I think I only got one wrong. Does anyone know when the answer key will be posted?

Glad the quiz is over and now onto a better and more productive week!!! 😀😀
Anyway, does ANYONE know how we check to see if our refund checks have been mailed as of yet?? Other than calling bursar's office?? I really want to see when we can expect a check. I know they said 14 days, but that seems to be a long time. 😡:scared: Besides, has ANYONE GOTTEN their check yet?? Let me know....thanks.

18.

by the way, does anyone know how to configure our webmail to thunderbird? i have it so i can get my incoming email, but for some reason, i can't send outgoing mail from it.

thanks!

Don't get your hopes up too high! We have an exam on Next Tuesday. 😛

The exam are supposed to be a lot tougher. It is nice that they give us time to study for it (over vacation😱).🙄

Guys and Girls chill! As long as you keep up w/ the material you'll all pass.

So does anyone know what is this convocation thing? I got the invitation in the mailbox, but there's no info as to what it actually is. And does anyone else find it amusing that's it's not even being held at NYIT, it's at LIU.

Hey if u guys want to test yourself with anatomy the University of Michigan has a good site with identification and written questions ... http://anatomy.med.umich.edu/

Also for the practical Rohens Color Atlas is golden, they even have copies at the library if u don't want to buy one...

can someone PM me with the password to the movies link....did it change? i had it saved in the autocomplete but its not working for me, and i forgot what it was...thanks

the password is your student ID. not sure if you include the zero or not.

It is a ceremony where a bunch of speakers speak and they introduce all of the health professions students (DO, PA, PT, and RN). That's pretty much it. Then they give you cookies and coffee and send you on your way. Not the most enjoyable evening, but still required, and it does give you an opportunity to chat with some faculty and administrative type people.

Lilzelda2- thanks so much for the link! That's an awesome site with some great resources.

I have a random question for everyone- when people ask you about school or when you first told them where you were going, did you go into detail with breaking down the DO vs. MD thing simply bc people aren't familiar? I find myself having to do that a lot, mostly right before I started when I found out what I was doing, and it's getting old. At first it was just 'I'm going to med school' and then ultimately it became 'Well, a DO is essentially the same blah blah blah' when they would ask what school it is. Just venting😳

I only explain if they ask.

lol yeah the whole DO vs. MD thing is annoying to explain every single time. I stopped caring and simply blurt out nycom. Mainly because people who dont know osteopathic medicine at all will look at u as if youre going to a chiropractic school and passing it on as med school. And those who know osteopathic medicine will suddenly smile and mention that their uncles friends sons painters wifes brothers girl friend is a DO and will, for some odd reason, look at you expecting you to know them.

If i don't kn ow the person and I am really only making small chit chat, I'll just say that I am going to med school. The next question is inevitably which school, so I say NYCOM. Most people ask where that is, and I say on Long Island, and that's usually enough for them. Most people don't know the name of every med school. I'll explain it only if they ask, or I'll explain what a DO is to my friends or family friends. My mom though, she still can't quite seem to grasp what OMM is. She thinks it's one giant orgy.

Its not...thats the reason I chose DO

All this studying and no giant orgy at the end? That Sux!

On a side note, anyone else having strange dreams about names of muscles, nerves, etc...?

I've been having dreams of amino acids and enzymes 🙁 I wish I was having dreams about anatomy...it'd help me remember all that crap better!

my dad already thinks i'm a doctor <high five dad!> haha. um, yeah.

I say the same thing. For people that insist it's not a "real doctor" I usually say that it is the same thing, and we get paid the same money. The money thing seems to sink in. If they really don't believe me, I tell them to go to their doctor's office and read the sign, and almost always, it will turn out that they have gone to a DO and didn't even know it. I even had this problem with coworkers at the hospital! Then I started listing off well know physicians in the hospital, and asking them what they thought of those Drs. After them saying how good they were, I "broke the news" that they were all DOs. This worked too.

Well it's good to know I wasn't the only one feeling the need to make some sort of sign to hang on myself clarifying things for people! I'm going to a wedding this weekend (worst timing in the history of the planet) so I'm preparing myself for my extended family members' favorite game of 21 questions 🙄

Good luck studying, everyone!

oh man... I thought that says DBL lol like Discussion based learning.

hey, does anyone know how to access old tests and what the password is to register for older classes? i forgot it. also, sorry if someone already asked this question. =)

They gave you class on an exam day? 😱 👎

8-10am is the exam. Then we have a 3 hour break till 1pm. Next, we have our 3rd week overview (10 minutes), then Intro to DPR for an hour and DPR: Patient Interview and History Taking (3 hours).

They gave you class after they make you sit for 3 hours doing nothing after an exam? 😱 👎

Thank you Nycom for closing the library on the weekend (yeah I know it's Labor Day - just venting...) before our first exam.😡

you'd drive all the way back to use the library?

why not try a public library or something? :d

I think what they are doing is a hazing...

Never ever did NYCOM have so many hours of class AND having it mandatory. They are trying to bring their baord scores up thats all.

I have a big feeling that once Intro is over, it will all even out.

😱 <~ anyone else like this every night???? LOL
