How many interviews each of you got so far? What magic number will increase the chance for matching? Any thoughts??

Its done. Interview mails are no more coming. I doubt there'll be any second wave of IV's this year. Too many applicants. TERRIBLE, sad sad day in 2012.

We're talking about IV's for normal candidates and not those who applied to all 160 programs with elite profiles.

@CoPaW16, how many IV's can a normal being possibly attend? What are you doing with all these IV's? hahahaha. Mayo rochester, arizona, florida .... all for you. You can only be at one mayo at the end of the day.

Do you go to a top 10 program? I sense that you've been getting some amazing invites throughout this process.
 
I have my share of rejections too guys. Let's just face it, this is a competitive fellowship to get. And as much as we don't want to admit it, once you've done the research work, a lot of this is subjective (aka luck)
 
the one with the most interviews is Adog. CoPaw16 does not have the most.

GI is so competitive. even the match rate is about %65 for AMGs. a lot of programs are saying record number of applications this year.
 
The match rate is 65-70% for AMGs and 25-30% for IMGs, but like bile duct said most programs have more applications than they are used to. In addition, the new timeline is almost uniformly disliked by everyone. Many programs have said that they have previously scheduled responsibilities like teaching conflicting with the current dates. In addition, having the interviews around the same time as residency programs puts a lot of pressure on the available pool of interviewers. Essentially what some programs did this year was to download the first 300-400 applications and then reject everyone. This is obiously not a perfect system, but it is what it is.
 
Its a tough fellowship to get into, but we need to be more optimistic. I have only 2 interviews and am very unlikely to match, but I am certain, I will match the next year or the following year. So cheers everyone and best of luck.
 
Anyone get 3 rejections today? Missouri kansas, Mayo- Jacksonville, and university of colorado
 
Has anyone heard from Northshore-LIJ, Norwalk or Bridgeport?!
 
Has anyone got an IV from Beth Isreal in NY (i know people have gotten rejections)? OR heard from Pitt, Brooklyn Hosp (curious), Washington Hosp center in DC, SUNY brooklyn, Jefferson in Philly, university of illinois? Sorry if any of these are on the list its hard to toggle back and forth

No basis for this...I think going to 8 is a guarantee match. People will still probably go to as many that is financially reasonable and as scheduling permits. I'll prob end up goin to 10-12. There are still IV's coming in...friend got Penn today.

I contacted the following programs by phone yesterday afternoon and I can shed some light to programs that have sent out interviews and not sent out rejections. I am on night float and couldnt post sooner.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I can only hope that someone cancels their interview for East Tenessee but I know realistically that this is impossible due to the stiff competition.
Lets have some beer and get numb people.
 
I think we should just call the programs and find out, that way we will have closure. Kinda like ripping off a bandaid. Painful pill to swallow but atleast we can look ahead now

Apps at Mayo Arizona still being reviewed and decision by end of the week per PC.

Apps at U Cincinnati also being reviewed currently per PC.

U Alabama has sent out some invites but still reviewing apps per PC.
 
GW started to send out invites last week. Reviewing through Oct 2nd.
