Got my first II today! I was so excited I started involuntarily crying in the hotel lobby!
Congrats, now ace that interview and get that acceptance!
Got my first II today! I was so excited I started involuntarily crying in the hotel lobby!
Setting: Medical school interview in the distant future.
Admissions officer: "So, what have you been doing with your fall/winter?"
Nontrad16: "I continued to gain patient contact experience, shadow physicians, and exposed myself to invisible illnesses to develop a better appreciation of patient conditions. And by that I mean I've been drinking. A lot. I was admitted to the ER after falling down the stairs, an area I didn't get the opportunity to shadow previously. I finally got to experience the annoyance and confusions of patient admissions, and was wheeled around in a chair by one of my volunteering cohorts as I rambled gleefully. All in all, I can say it was a beneficial experience for me, the staff, and the insurance companies."
1 II (IA), 1 hold, 3 rejections, 21 silence, 4 waiting for secondaries, and 5 secondaries not submitted (not sure it's worth it now :/)
Seems really quiet today ..I havent seen any II's at any of my schools..and tomorrow is Friday..and we wait...
This is how I imagine you when you got those rejections: ʕノ•ᴥ•ʔノ ︵ ┻━┻ . Lol sorry, all the silence from the med schools I applied to has me thinking of stupid stuff 😛.
This seems hilarious but can't quite figure it out -- I see the bear, but what is the other part??? "︵ ┻━┻" ?
1 SGU interview, 3 Allo rejections, 2 Allo holds, 7 TBD
What's SGU?
Saint George University ?What's SGU?
caribbean school. the last resort if you can't get into MD/DO after 3 tries.
feels like yesterday that i announced that we made it into october without a single II
Hopefully you won't have to go there.
Just do your homework first. Make sure you understand what you're doing. Its the final option... hell of a lot better than letting the dream die

3rd cycle end of the line,
Its far from where I would like to be, but IM is very possible; if I kill it GS will also be viable. My father went there a decade ago, but the landscape is changing.
A rejection from a lower stat school that's mission identically matches my mission in life and is exactly where I want to live.
Bummer.
After reviewing the threads of the schools I applied to from the last year and in some cases I went back 2 years..alot of them have given invites into November, December & January. Some even beyond..I think we are fine right now. Why dont you review some of the last years threads..If we don't have an interview by November, should we start preparing our apps (secondaries, etc.) for next cycle? I read somewhere that most schools have already given out interviews for January!

I hear what your saying..reading the old threads give me hope ...you will see people completed early getting later invites ..dont lose hope...also when current med students come on and say they didnt get an invite until Jan and were accepted..early on I think the high MCATS get invites..legacies, URM, ect. So I think it depends on your MCAT and GPA as well and the schools you applied to. I completed late due to a late MCAT re-take which stinks for me but I did get one II from a state school. I am hoping for more but who knows. In the meantime I would say work on EC's, shadow a specialist, research, volunteer, work for an MD. Thats what I am doing this GAP year. This is process is tough..if it was easy everyone would be a MD. I may have to go through another cycle as well. It lurks in the back of my mind but its not late YET..!! I feel hopeful this is going to be a good month!! Good Luck!!
I'll apply early this time and continue to work on EC's. I'll also apply DO which I did not do this cycle. Thats all I can do. Not planning on another MCAT re-take. Twice was enough. I completed a masters to raise my GPA so thats out too! You have one invite as well correct? It only takes one!! I do have to say I would be disappointed not to get another in-state invite..but none of this process makes sense. Good Luck!!

Depends on the school. For the people saying they're getting holds, are you getting emails that your application is on hold or just logging in and seeing that?
I think its too early to panic. Is your list top heavy or did you apply lower tier and state schools as well? You seem like your in a good place. Ive seen lower MCAT scores who get invites. Dont give up hope! I think you GPA is fine. A masters is gonna cost you alot of money. I would get a job for the next few months in a doctors office maybe? The most frustrating thing about this is that I don't know what I am supposed to change for the next cycle. Is a 32 too low? Should I take the new MCAT? I thought my GPA was acceptable (3.85). I thought I had really good extracurricular things. My research, volunteering, clinical experience, etc. all seems completely fine! I just simply do not understand what the problem is. I don't know if it's too early to give up hope, I don't know if I should start looking for jobs or Master's programs or anything. God I just want this to end so badly. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

0 II, 5 rejections (losing hope), 1 hold
MCAT 513 from retake 29, GPA 3.7, excellent ECs and letters, ORM
I applied to 8 of those..havent heard anything..I was reading the thread from NYMC..we should get something there..I hope..even Albany maybe? My list is definitely not top heavy! I've said it before, and I'll say it again...I really, truly, from the bottom of my heart, could not care less where I go to medical school. I applied to Albany, Drexel, EVMS, Dartmouth, GW, Indiana, Loyola, Mayo, MCW, NYMC, Quinnipiac Rosalind Franklin, Rush, SLU, Southern Illinois, Vermont, UIC
How many schools do you have to hear back from still?
