Official 2016-2017: Oh no, I don't have a single Interview Invite thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I have similar rejection #s and only one more II than you.
I think you're doing ok! Plus its early and you already have an II so time is on your side!
Thank you for the reassurance! I think I got myself into the overthinking pattern and started to think it was a fluke lol. Thanks again, though! Perspective is so helpful right now

Sammie, I can't answer foolish questions. I am beginning to wonder if we need to start screening out neurotic people.

@Goro, sorry for the neuroses, but if i have more rejections than others seem to have (6 or 7 don't feel the need to recount lol) but i also have an II can I rest easy that I don't have a glaring red flag?

I'm a non-trad with a low gpa, but good applicaiton otherwise (including 90+% mcat score), so I came into the cycle recognizing I might be a polarizing candidate.

Perhaps I didn't do a great job picking schools whose mission I may match, as well?

🤣🤣🤣 This has made me settle my butt down more than anything else could have. Thanks!

Everyone is going to be all right!

I'm not sure if this is the right thread but I got rejected from my state school post-II. I don't even know what to feel right now......🙁
Have someone evaluate your interviewing skills.

Look at the 2016/17 applicant sticky and read all the posts on Interview tips.
@Goro Has a great one. As does @PugsAndHugs.

Most importantly, don't give up hope!

Most likely your application is good (since you received an interview!)

You just have to refine your interviewing skills and you'll be in!

Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions or just want to vent. I'm always around!

Thanks banana, I've actually read all those threads already and I think I might know what went wrong (see my post history) but I'm not entirely sure if it was because of that since Goro commented on it, too. Do you have anything to add on that?

interesting choice but I think you are okay. I would try something a little more recent and focus on taking responsibility and showing you learned from your mistakes.

Thanks everyone for the support, I appreciate it a lot, have read all the comments here. Good luck to everyone else as well! No point in quitting without applying at least a few times.

lets be honest, what are the odds that at this point someone with 0 ii's is gonna get anything. do we really need to wait until thanksgiving?

N=1 and my experience is from a few years ago, but when I applied I got my first II in mid-November, second II in mid-December, and then two more IIs in January. I was ultimately accepted by one of my January invites. Good luck to everyone!

still sitting at a big fat 0. 4 rejections. 1 hold. re-applicant. Avg GPA/lower MCAT. Complete with all secondaries (save for 2 DOs I'm in the process of submitting now) by mid-late August.
in the "every new email gives me a heart attack" club.

Okay I'm joining this thread cause well, October is almost over. I should be more excited for Halloween. 0 ll, 6 rejections, couple holds. Complete all MD in July/Aug and all DO in late Aug/early Sept. I've given up on checking portals. I hate when Netflix emails me saying they just added a new movie, that used to be an exciting time.

Got a call from an unknown number today and was elated when there was an actual person on the other line vs automated message.. wrong number... still sitting on 0 II's..

I'll join the thread. Non trad ORM, LizzyM ~70. Complete in late July - early August. 2 holds, 2 rejections, 0 II. Fingers crossed for the upcoming weeks. Hang in there everybody!

Hey don't such a downer. Hang in there buddy, let's try to be positive here.

I'll go ahead and join this thread. LizzyM 65-70. 3 holds. 2 rejections. 0 II. I'm active duty military and I haven't even heard anything from USUHS. I was really hoping for some love from them.

I've already started looking for ways to improve my app for next year!

Not you in particular, but why do people in general add an additional layer or what I guess is anonymity to LizzyM scores, why not just list the exact "score" instead of range?
I don't think it is necessarily an anonymity thing. For some people it can be because they have MCAT retakes and their LizzyM can be calculated differently depending on how those are viewed. Others have a range because grade replacement is a thing for DO applicants and so their cGPA might differ between AMCAS and AACOMAS.

Didn't think about the differences in applications, thanks for the insight.

I'm starting to become neurotic waiting for II. 😱 3 rejections already, I'm hoping waiting for Thanksgiving/January comes true.

I....I.....

I didn't get an interview this week.
I am rooting for you! You are smart and inquisitive , and I am sure a school is going to see that in your app and choose you! Hang in there!

Thanks - congrats on your cycle!

I'm in it for the long haul - but I'm determined to have some, at times, self-deprecating fun along the way!

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it! I do recognize your point and completely agree that applying OOS generally is very tough and simply unrealistic for most schools. I'm simply saying, if I had been realistic, I would still be going to bed every night worrying about whether or not I would ever get in somewhere.
My first acceptance was also OOS from a state school in Texas. I'm glad I decided to apply :cat:

So... Everyone says not to stress till after Thanksgiving.
Thinking ahead a couple of weeks, what am I supposed to do if I still haven't heard anything (good or bad) from the places I applied?

You should be improving you application if you dont hear back by thanksgiving.

Congrats to all that heard back last week... I still have yet to receive an interview or rejection, 11 Apps, wide range, secondaries by Aug 20th, LizzyM 74, Asian.

I. Am. Losing it. Should I apply to DO asap?

What state are you in? What schools did you apply to ?
