Officially or not, I know for a fact i am beyond obsessed with SDN. I too, feel like i must be in a parallel universe where all talk of acceptances, declines has been banned. I kept thinking I must have a computer virus that was obliterating any discussion or giving any hope.

I think the only way I will survive this week is if I fill my bathtub up with Tequila and put a straw in it and just slurp till thursday.....

If anyone wants to join, just bring a jug or two so we can refill! 😛

So I've been very frustrated lately because I am a first year grad student and second time applicant. I have been locked away almost all semester because of studying and having a puppy so now when I go out into the daylight (or night time, etc), I hear, "You're still here!?! What are you doing these days?" I can't tell you how many convos I've had with people about alternate lists and then they follow up like a week later, "OMG have you heard from Kansas State!?!?!" Ugh. If I knew, so would all of facebook. lol

The worst is when I get, "So, how's vet school?" UGH. I didn't get in. I haven't gotten in. I'm still waiting to hear. I have a vague idea of plan B.

I would stay inside for the next few days and turn off my phone... but I have class and I don't want to miss any phone calls!

Here's hoping that I can put an end to long, drawn-out life plan answers!

P.S. - Sorry for the rant. This is probably more suitable for a blog, but I already typed it... so enjoy.

I hope so too! Its pretty much my only shot. If I don't get a call, I will likely have to wait another application cycle 🙁

And TT, it does look enticing! This weekend is parents weekend at A&M and I will definitely be bringing up said trips in conversation with my dad... too bad he wants my plan B to be law school... 😕...

So I've been trying to take a nap, and I can't fall asleep because all I can think about is this stupid April 15th day. I've been dreaming about not getting the call for the past week. This is torture. I feel like I get my hopes up because out of the 3 schools i'm waitlisted for, I keep telling myself that the chances are really high I'll get called. I don't want to get my hopes up because there is still a chance I won't! I just want to know already gosh!

I'm sorry luplodw. If it helps you aren't alone - I had a nervous breakdown yesterday and started crying. Then I had a drink with dinner and felt a bit better! I decided, what will be will be and everything would be fine either way.
I know that probably doesn't help, but at least you aren't alone. Best of luck to you and everyone on waitlists - I've been waiting for a total of almost four months and it has sucked, especially with all the research I've done I found out that my school will call previously rejected OOS candidates rather than their own IS alternates. Oh well.

So, in addition to stalking SDN, I have also been stalking KSU's website. I just figured out that for 2012, 70% of OOS students that were interviewed were offered a spot. No specifics on this page about # of alternates, but I'm thinking its still good info because not everyone that is interviewed is accepted or waitlisted, so if we've made it this far then things are looking good, right?
I think last week was more stressful, and this week I'm either in shock or denial, anticipating not getting the call but still checking my phone every thirty seconds for the next four months. I've been counting down to April 15th, but thats really just when the waiting officially starts!
Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! every success story I hear gives me hope...even if it means hoping for next year!

Fast forward a couple of months, and almost everyone I run into knows alllll about it!

I am so excited about April 15 that I have to remind myself what it really means and that I am probably in for more waiting and possibly (probably?) no spot at all this year. But really, I am about to explode!

I spoke to Karen Nelson, dir. of admissions, yesterday to get a sense of how the process was going and while she was very nice, she couldn't give me any solid numbers. Apparently, the statistics of wait listing over the past 2 years has been all over the board (1 yr they went through the whole OOS waitlist and 1 yr they only took a handful of people). She did, however, say that I could call early next week for a more solid update, after they've officially tallied up the numbers of admitted students who accepted admission and final wait list rankings.

Oh, and to correct an earlier posting I made: Karen Nelson confirmed that yes, MN does offer admission to more students than they have spots for (100 total spots, 45 OOS), but she wouldn't disclose the actual number...

does anyone know if KSU limits the number of OOS acceptances per state? The current list of class of 2014 has 5 students from my state…does that mean I’m less likely to get of the waitlist because they’ll be looking for more diversity among the class?
Also, for anyone interested, since I can’t focus on anything else, I actually went through the list on KSU for this year, and right now the class is made up of 44 IS, 6 contract, and 78 OOS.

I figure other KSU alternates all got the same e-mail, but in case there is a delay for anyone I just thought I'd add the update here. Also feeling a little shocked after hearing so much about them moving so far through the list in previous years.

They may be full now, but I expect that will changed as other schools go through their waitlists. People may have accepted KSU, get called of a waitlist at a school they'd prefer and then decline the previously accepted KSU slot. Don't give up yet!
