I hope so too! Its pretty much my only shot. If I don't get a call, I will likely have to wait another application cycle 🙁

And TT, it does look enticing! This weekend is parents weekend at A&M and I will definitely be bringing up said trips in conversation with my dad... too bad he wants my plan B to be law school... 😕...

My parents are both attorneys and my dad pushed me to take the LSAT until January. I never caved though!

They may be full now, but I expect that will changed as other schools go through their waitlists. People may have accepted KSU, get called of a waitlist at a school they'd prefer and then decline the previously accepted KSU slot. Don't give up yet!

So do you think that this happens every year? The class basically fills up and then eventually K-state ends up going through a lot of their alternate list because people give up their slot for another school?

I'm really surprised to hear that. I was offered a position at KSU and only sent in my response to decline admission the very last day so maybe they haven't fully heard back yet from students declining admission? I also agree with those who said that as students get in off other waiting lists, they will opt out of their KSU spots and more positions on the waitlist will open up...

For anyone waiting to hear from KSU, I received an e-mail today that their class is full. 🙁
I figure other KSU alternates all got the same e-mail, but in case there is a delay for anyone I just thought I'd add the update here. Also feeling a little shocked after hearing so much about them moving so far through the list in previous years.
Hope everyone else will have better news!

I'm sorry in advance for being pessimistic, but here's what I think is going on. KSU planned on having about 60 OOS students, they always send out more acceptances than they have room for because they expect a certain number of declines. As of the photo list on C/O 2014 that I looked at on friday, they have 78 OOS students in the class.
On the threads for the last two years, people were getting calls from KSU on april 15th, so I think this year is different from others in that right now, they still have too many OOS students. I know they only start notifying people on the 15th, but other schools have been calling students for a while, so I think Kansas is comparing to previous years, and there has not been enough changes on their list at this point for them to expect significant changes in the next few weeks.
They do say it is still possible, but I think that by sending out this e-mail what they mean is that they don't expect much movement at this point. I'm not saying no one will get off the alternate list, but from what I've read from previous years, this year is different and the list doesn't look like it is going to move like it has in the past.

Again, I might just be being paronoid and depresssed because of the e-mail, and just thinking worst-case-scenerio. I don't have any real insider info, so maybe I'm completely wrong!

I'm going to cry if this is true. But I'm not sure I believe it. There were like, 13 people on SDN and associated that I know who declined acceptances, and one person on here who said Tufts called HER to see if she was accepting or declining so they could start notifying alternates.
I was planning on calling later this week anyways....

Probably overaccept, but it's such a small class and they typically don't have very many declines.
Also, Tufts is one that doesn't rank, and EVERY person I talked to in admissions has said that they wait until after Apr 15, then re-evaluate all the alternates.

She DID say that they expect a few people to drop off over the summer, and we are welcome to call as often as we like even if it's once a week. So don't give up hope completely...just mostly.

I tried to follow up on this, but wasn't very successful! I was told that they started with 221 OOS alternates, and that the number has gone down (from people removing themselves from the list and from people declining), but she said she had no idea what the new number was.
She said the class is usually pretty set by June, but that people could still be called after that if a position opens up, and that they do not send out any update until classes begin (so in June when they are considering that the class list is solid, they will not be sending out an e-mail like KSU did...the only e-mail will be after classes have started in the fall and they can officially say the class is set).
I also asked if she knew about how many spots were currently available, and she said technically no spots were open and it is just that as a person declines an offer, that spot is then offered to the next person on the list.
I don't think any of that is very helpful info, but its all I could get!

The NC State OOS waitlist is also moving - I was called this morning and was offered a spot from the unranked list. Not sure if I will be taking it or not. It was my first choice during the application process, but I've already started the ball moving with Wisconsin...

I tried to follow up on this, but wasn't very successful! I was told that they started with 221 OOS alternates, and that the number has gone down (from people removing themselves from the list and from people declining), but she said she had no idea what the new number was.
She said the class is usually pretty set by June, but that people could still be called after that if a position opens up, and that they do not send out any update until classes begin (so in June when they are considering that the class list is solid, they will not be sending out an e-mail like KSU did...the only e-mail will be after classes have started in the fall and they can officially say the class is set).
I also asked if she knew about how many spots were currently available, and she said technically no spots were open and it is just that as a person declines an offer, that spot is then offered to the next person on the list.
I don't think any of that is very helpful info, but its all I could get!

thanks so much for posting this! now im just wondering if i should start thinknig of reapplying for the next cycle.. while it would be awesome to be pulled off the waitlist, it would suck to have spent all that money on a second app.. :-/ decisions decisions...!

IMO, you should definitely start preparing to reapply. I'm waitlisted also, and while I've been told that means I have a pretty good chance of being offered a seat before classes start, if I waited around until July or August before working on the VMCAS and reworking my personal statement, I would feel like I was really rushed.

Think about it this way, if you get in, GREAT! That means you don't have to submit the VMCAS again or send off transcripts/GRE scores/etc! Remember that the applications aren't due until the beginning of October so there isn't any pressure to have it submitted before the upcoming fall classes start. However, if you don't get called off the waitlist and you spend June and July thinking that you're going to get a call, you're losing time on perfecting your application.

I hope this all made sense, I just woke up 😴 lol

For those waiting on KSU, their website is down to 126 for c/o 2014! I didn't take the time to calculate IS/OOS numbers, but dwindling class size is a step in the right direction either way.

for those who are waiting on michigan i called today and they said that they called a couple of IS and three OOS.. i couldnt ask how many spots were left because it was pouring like crazy here and i could barely hear what she was saying! if anyone asks how many there are left please post!!

An update for Tufts alternates: I talked to Laura Fuller yesterday, and nothing has changed. I know someone had mentioned that they knew someone declining, but as of right now, no alternates are getting calls.

Sad. Now I seriously have to decide whether to go to Edinburgh or reapply in the states next year. 😱
